Just put a hangun in a drawer next to your bed. Buy this only if you think running across the room and crouching down to fiddle with this thing in the middle of the night is a good idea. Also, prepare to do contractors working get it in and get use to looking at it for the rest of your life

Think a little beyond your limited scenario and appreciate options for other situations. Not all us of only have night stand guns. Many have multiple guns and uses. Some might want to hide a gun in an office where a burgler wouldn't look, for instance. I don't own this product, but have a few concealment storage concepts I appreciate, in addition to the gun holster connected to my bed frame. (When I go away on vacation, that home defense gun gets stowed where a burger wouldn't get it easily, like he would in a nightstand).

I bought a old refrigerator @ Goodwill for $5. Took it home, hollowed it out & cut off the bottom. I then slipped it over an existing safe. Thinking about converting a junker Chevy Chevette into an ammo locker using job site boxes.

My problem with this is there is almost zero overhang from the hole cut into the drywall and the outside of the grill. There is zero margin of error if you make a mistake. Don't even mention the fact drywall loves to crack and tear when being cut. If you mount too far from the wall anything but a perfect install will draw attention to the grill and either way there will be an unnatural gap. If you mount too far inside the inward facing edge of the grill will mark up the drywall when opening / closing also bringing attention to the grill. There is a reason real grills are larger than the hole they cover. I bet this product has created a many angry wives ;)

Cool idea. Not good enough though. The offset screws on the face would catch my eye. The fact there are four screws instead of two would catch my eye. The grill would have to be tight to the wall or it would catch my eye. This type of vent is what you would find on a water heater door, nowhere else in the house. People with an eye for such details would take a closer look, anyone who does construction would notice this. Just do the behind the picture gig and don't put it down near the floor where children can reach it.

Could easily, and more cost effective, make your own by cutting the dryway as if to install a vent and just put a 2x4 in the bottom and top. Caulk for deal if you'd like. The mount a standard grill using magnetic attachments. You could make it look 100% real!!

Sorry for the lack of proofreading but you get it I'm sure.

Good point. The average person maybe not, but a cop or a burglar would likely spot this inside a minute of searching a room. Maybe painting the screws white to match the vent could help make it less noticeable?

Would work in a household without children.

lol... is this a real thing? if you were going to hide stuff behind vents, why not just use the existing vents in your home.

Hiding in a real vent (supply or return) would cake everything with dust. Also need to remove screws to open.
