Gen 2 G17 was the first firearm I ever purchased.
The excitement waned after holding it.

Stop - the First thing to do is go find one and HOLD it, or rather try to hold on to it. The only way they could have made this gun's grip any slicker is to give you a bottle of KY along with the extra mags. No seriously, I went to the LGS to buy this gun - because they finely had one on stock and gave me a call. After handling it for a few minutes I totally changed my mind because of the exceptionally bad grip texture - or lack thereof. May be "authentic" but ........... Anyway it saved me a lot of $$ to meet this gun "in person". Glad I didn't buy it online. Oh, and $815 for this from Guns.com is a total rip-off!!!
This is definitely not a deal. My local academy has the same gun on display with three more in the safe for $599.99 . On top of the gun being $200 cheaper, Academy is also running 10% off until the end of June for military and first responders.
