Held one a few days ago. Feels much better in my hand then the gen 4. Nice changes made and with the new springs seems like it may cycle faster then the gen 4 also. Imo.....
Its a good reliable gun, just get one and move on with life.
I know many people disagree, and it largely depends on hand and finger size, but the removal of the finger grooves really pisses me off.
Even after a grip reduction/rework, it isn't anywhere near as comfortable/ergonomic as my gen 3s and gen 4s. Feels like a brick, and I'm pretty good at making glocks fit my hand very well.
Preferences aside, finger grooves (that fit!) are better, they allow for more recoil control, better grip and better grip repeatability, which leads to better and faster shooting. I do change mine a bit to fit me, but I can't add them to my gen 5, and with the 20% (!!!??) parts compatibility with the gen 3 and 4, I will be selling it.
Just like Apple, it's just another glock, with some improvements and some removed features. More of a half step to the side instead of a step forward.
Get a gen 3 or 4, and shoot the hell out of it.
I have a G19 gen 4. My first and only pistol (so far). With that said, I paid $80 less than this. Gen 4 is very reliable, so why spend $80 more for the same gun with very minor modifications?
Breaking news! Glock is working on the all new gen 6. They are adding iron sights replacing polymer sights...lol

So stupid! Glock fanboys are retarded! Yes, I own pretty much every Glock there is. I get them basically for $400 with my blue line discount. There is no reason to spend all the extra money for a Gen 5. My favorite is the Gen 4 and I'll shoot it all day over A gen 5. Either way, I'll still stick to my Sig's or FN as my every day carry. You dip-shits will do the same thing when a Gen 6 comes out. They can make the grip out of hard dog shit and the fanboy group will still go crazy thinking it's the greatest thing ever bc it's a new Glock. SMH!!!

If he did the same with the Gen 4, why would he have bought one? You are not very smart.
They will put even more finger grips on the mod 6. They will claim 'less slippage'. Mod 7 will have a horizontal pistol butt...like a Mossberg 590 12 ga Shockwave pistol. The Mod 8 will be such a horrible design that they will skip Mod 9 (Microsoft) and go straight to Mod 10 (identical to the Mod 4 with a title 'back by popular demand'). And these Glock fans will need to upgrade every time.

I'm glad the finger grooves are gone! Gen 5 is a number of mods and improvements made to the gun based on user feedback. No radical changes were needed still tops it all!

Gen 3 was perfection. Gen 4-5 are Gastons last attempt to make more $$$ before he dies.
Gen 3 had the worst ergonomics and grip texture of any glock. Thick in the grip as well ....and a tiny mag release.....gen 4 corrected these shortcommings and the gen 5s perfected them...add the more accurate barrels and superior triggers and youve got a surefire winner....everything glock says it is and more......
Another sucker. Go ahead and trade your Glock in. The grip on the 5 sucks. I would take the 4 over it any day. Hell, the Taurus PT111G2 has a better grip. Maybe they will copy it on the next generation...

You are full of $hit. My Glock 21/4's grip is much better than this. Next they will have the popular GRIP ZONE© on its mod 6 in a few years. I will take my Springfield grip or my mod 4 grip any day over this .

Yes sir. You buy whatever type of weapon you want and can afford. You earned you cash, you should have that decision. From a Hi Point, to a $3K 1911. I have a Glock 21, 3 Springfield pistols, 2 Taurus pistols, and 2 Ruger pistols and love them all. Anyone (like maersk) who says any one pistol is better than the rest just has his head up his ass and/or is talking crap. If people really like this style over their mod 2-4, or if your old Glock is worn out, then trade it in and get it. I just don't think it is worth the extra $100-$300 (depending on what you get for the older model) for a few bells and whistles. The Ruger LCP 2 upgrade is quite different from the regular LCP. THAT is worth the trade-in.
What about "Glock Perfection"? Why does there even need to be a Gen 5? Shouldn't the Gen 1 have been perfect enough, handed down from Heaven by The Lord God to Gaston himself? How does one improve upon perfection?

Lame. I've never owned a glock but have shot a rental 19. I can't tell the difference between this gen5 to the other gens. I see glocks like iPhone, they change one minor thing and the legion of followers flock to buy them. I chose the CZ P07 urban model, I'm also an Android user.

But there are those with a few hundred dollars and an older Glock that works perfectly who will just have to have this. Those brainwashing ads and commercials do their job.

I already have two Glocks (Gen-4 17 and 42). Was looking for an excuse to buy a 19. I hope they've made some additional changes to the grip other than just the flared magwell and removal of the grooves. The HK VP9 and the Walther PPQ both feel so much better in my hand than a Glock. I'm not comparing their performance mind you. Just the feel. Both of my Glocks run flawlessly with great accuracy and minimal recoil. I just love the way the VP9 fits in my hand, especially, around the thumb. It's big, though, and I don't need another full-size striker fired polymer frame 9mm. If the Gen-5 19 feels right, I'll pick one up. If not, I'll pass.
Somebody bought into the hype of the gen5, and swallowed the bait hook, line and sinker. I'll wait until summer special 2018 when they release the front serrations gen5's. Glock is a marketing genius, they make small changes to the same handguns they've had for years and people eat it up. There's literally like 10 different glock 17's now lol
More marketing hype,make gun with no grooves gen 1,2,2.5, put grooves back on 3&4, take off grooves on 5. Maybe on 6 there will be 1 groove. The trigger bar on the gen 4, 19, sucked so I hope they went back to no nipple on the 5. I swapped out my gen 4 trigger bars with gen 3.
For those old enough to remember, Coke pissed a lot of people off with that 'classic' move. I love my Glock 21/4 just the way it is.
so stick with the one you have, no ones forcing you to buy anything. Id guess 99.9% of the shittalkers have never laid hands on a gen 5.
all of the internals have been reworked, the trigger is so much better than gen 4. the internals have almost no backwards compatibility, gen 5 has all new guts. they shoot sooo well, very smooth, both 17 and 19. the frame is back to a 2 pin, so no more 40 cal according to my sources.
also the grooves are like New Coke (New Glock), now we have Glock Classic, only better. the gun will take all previous gen mags, but gen 5 mags won't work in old guns. the orange follower is for a quick visual inspection that the magazine is empty.
