This is a lady's purse gun. Why would this be marketed to LE? I've NEVER heard of any officer carrying a .380acp.

Discriminating against civilians with glock "LE discount guns" is a shitty way to run a business. Procurement is a departments responsibility, not the officers.

I'm grateful to the LEO's that protect and serve. Respect to you.

Google is your friend instead of spewing ignorant misinformation..... Yes hosebeater, you qualify. Yes civies will be able to purchase these as they are made in the US and are not excluded from importation. This dealer just had a batch of LE discount guns and he posted them to move them out. He can only sell the LE guns in Ohio anyway as the LE dealers can only sell in certain geographical areas based upon the glock agreement to provide all dealers with territory.

GLOCK is proud to offer the exclusive Blue Label program to support those who protect and serve communities across the U.S. and around the world. Those who qualify will receive a discount on any GLOCK pistol of their choice.

Those who qualify include:

Sworn Law Enforcement officers, including Federal, State, County, & City (Includes retired L.E. officers with "retired" credentials)
EMT’s, Fire Fighters, Volunteer Fire Fighters, and Paramedics
Military personnel including Reservists and National Guard with I.D. (Includes retired Military with "retired" credentials)
Corrections Officers, including Parole and Probation Officers
State Licensed Security Companies (Loomis, RAM, etc.)
State Licensed Armed Security Officers
Court Judges, District Attorneys and Deputy District Attorneys
LE Academy Cadets with enrollment documentation from the Academy

What do I know, just brainstorming here. This isn't a deal just for LE rather LE is the only one that can legally have this gun.. If I remember in my memory.. IS this a Manual safety thing?. As glock won't go there?? IDK I could be way off but I only know that ,380 Glock moedels have been illegal accept for LE..

That is incorrect this is not a LE only model. You are thinking of the g28 and g25. They are manufactured outside the US and are illegal for import except for LE...

They restrict these to LEOs first to help work out the bugs. Don't expect wide spread availability until the summer.

Most departments do not require our back up guns to be the same caliber as carry. But most do require you to qualify with your backup weapon on the range. Lots of guys have an extra pocket sewn into their front pants pocket to put something like this into.

First, I would never want one of these, but...

Why on planet earth would anyone "restrict" this to LEOs?! It's not an NFA or Mil-Spec item. Anyone can buy one of these for their grandmother on Valentine's Day.

WTH am I missing?

I work in Law Enforcement and have several LEO friends in different departments. Bottom-line - NONE of us is allowed to carry this as a back-up gun because we're required to carry a gun of the same caliber as our duty gun, and no department that I've ever heard of issues .380's.

Some departments won't even let you carry a back-up unless the mags are interchangeable with your duty gun. (So we can carry a G27 in addition to our G22, for example.)

Leo doesnt mean your department only it means you can add it to your personal collection while idk why anyone would when the shield is available at this price for leo also, i dont understand why .380 first if they wanted to compete with the shield and xds but id expect .40 and 9 very soon

Lol five people are mad because they dont have credentials. Im all for giving respect to those who serve.

Sophie, I'm with you on giving respect to those who serve, but my idea of serving pertains to the military rather than law enforcement or DHS. For that matter, if employment as a law enforcement officer counts as "service," presumably due to the personal risk involved, why wouldn't firefighters be included as well? Firefighters face almost the same public safety mortality rate as do policemen (and both of these face a much lower rate than certain blue collar professions).

The figures below are the number of on-the-job deaths annually per 100,000 workers, by occupation:

Policemen: 16.8
Firefighters: 16.6
Farmers and Ranchers: 37.2
Grounds Maintenance Workers: 13.5
Fishers and related Fishing Workers: 147.2
Construction Laborers: 21.4
Roofers: 33.5
Structural Iron and Steel Workers: 61
Operating Engineers and other Equipment Operators: 18.2
Aircraft Pilots and Flight Engineers: 90.4
Refuse and Recyclable Material Collectors: 40.7
Logging: 87.4
Mining: 28.1
Taxi and limousine drivers: 22.1
Truck Transportation: 27.2

Wow, very intersting.. We pay so much attetion to the lives lost within law enforcement which it truely horrible, but what about the people risking their lives to pay for that law enforcement.

Im certain that military is included in this deal and i think firefighters are also, so when i say respect im speaking more for the military than anyone because my brother serves, but all public service providers who arent in it for the money or perks deserve respect, the occupations you listed are just a job to most while most who i know that serve are in it for that to serve, while im sure their are some who want the fame and power it shouldnt take away anything from those who are not.

Sophie, I merely listed the other professions to show that being a policeman (or a firefighter) isn't a particularly dangerous occupation. Consequently, I don't see how law enforcement officers deserve the same degree of respect that our military servicemen and veterans do.

And i merely said that the job related deaths are different in the sense that one is for a paycheck and the other is saving someones life. Also i agreed the military deserves more respect but that doeant mean le shouldnt receive any....

if not for the paycheck none would serve. this from a truckdriver that does for a paycheck and to serve safely.

I appreciate our law enforcement. So much so, I hope none of them buy a big, giant 6 shot 380. Sorry, but Glock missed the mark with this one.

I think they'll release a 9 very soon idk why they didnt start with a 9 but leo has a wide range from military to security all the way to radio control operators and they could be buying it for their girlfriend or daughter or someone not comfortable with a bigger caliber. A 380 is better than no gun at all, better have some nasty expanding self defense bullets.

Good price for a Glock, but I wonder how many LEOs want a .380 for Christmas - probably a very few of those very few that don't know about the G27 & G26

NOT A DEAL IF YOU CAN"T ACTUALLY BUY ONE. This is also possibly the largest 380 available.

I agree, that's a big 380. You can carry a 9mm Shield, get more power, and an extra round (or two) in the same size gun.
