FEATURES
Palmetto State Armory is proud to announce the long-awaited release of the JAKL! This platform is built around a 6105 monolithic upper receiver designed to be compatible with any Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receiver. The PSA JAKL offers a buffer system that is fully captured in the upper receiver, shortening the overall length of the firearm. Completed with a rear Picatinny stock adapter, which allows for a side-folding brace to be securely attached to the firearm.
The PSA JAKL features a long-stroke piston design with a Carpenter 158 bolt and 4340 carrier that are an AK/AR hybrid. Our side charging handle is ambidextrous, allowing the user to change positions to the left or right side of the receiver without the use of tools. Equipped with a toolless 4-position gas block, this feature offers the ability to quickly adjust your gas block by hand when needed. Field stripping and removal of the JAKL carrier, recoil assembly, and sled assembly can all be done without tools for effortless cleaning.

Hopefully PSA will release just the upper soon at a reasonable price since it's compatible with any Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receiver!

Is there anyone on here who has bought one of these? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts, experience and opinion about this rifle. Looking at getting one.

Unless I’ve missed something, nobody has bought one yet, they’re just teasing it at this point.

Pretty sure I remember reading the original M16 was made of 6000 series aluminum. I did not hold up well in Vietnam jungles, so it was switched to 7000 series. Not a strength issue, just 7000 series was better with humidity, sweat,etc... Shouldn't really matter for this rifle unless you are taking it to a jungle.

Agreed. Posted this further down, but here’s another so folks can read up before freaking out and posting internet echo-chamber drivel.

I'm surprised the upper is made from 6061 and not 7075. I thought all ar uppers and lowers are made from 7075 except the polymer lowers that nobody wants.

FN SCAR receivers are made of 6061. All AR handguards are made of 6061 too. Too costly to machine monolithic upper with 7075 with very limited benefit.

Umm, 7075 machines exactly the same as 6061.
The material just costs like 2% more.

If you would look it up it does not machine exactly the same. 6061 does machine better than the 7075 probably because it’s a softer alloy.

Agree with woohoo2you,i’ve looked it up a couple different places and the 6061 is more corrosion resistant than 7075,

No offense intended but a single article with no references is internet "edumacation" at its finest.

The fact that a web search of "6061 vs 7075 aluminum corrosion resistance" has little relevant results makes me wonder how true this might be. And even if it is true, how much of a factor is it in the real world? Especially being everything is anodized.

For example this article states the complete opposite:
"6061 aluminum alloy is more resistant to corrosion than 7075. The reason for this is not far-fetched. There is a much higher amount of copper in the 7075 alloy than in 6061. Since copper reacts more with the environment, corrosion is bound to occur."

https://www.rapiddirect.com/blog/6061-vs-7075-aluminum/#:~:text=6061%20aluminum%20alloy%20is%20more,corrosion%20is%20bound%20to%20occur....

Again, no offense intended and I have no idea which is true but random links from the internet do not prove anything. Ask my friend who went to a Rolling Stones concert to see JFK Jr ;)

Sure. Fair enough point.

I’m not a metallurgist, but it seems to me you could easily take the now four specific sources I’ve cited and take the average information that shows up in all of these as your answer.

I get what you’re saying, though, and appreciate the call out. There’s too much misinformation spread out on forums these days. Take it from the pros and do your own research so you know what you’re talking about (said to everyone, including me).

Edit: Just realized that you may be thinking I’m defending the position that 7075 is superior over 6061. That’s not at all what I’m saying. Neither is “better” until an application of the material and the manufacturing method are both defined. With an AR receiver, either is fine.

Oh man PSA keeps knocking it out of the park with all their deals and now full line of in house built firearms! Someone is doing something right within that company. Keep up the good work and great deals and I will certainly be a long term customer. Just hope they don't start getting overly greedy and end up imploding like many others have.

PSA has been killing it for almost 20 years. This isn’t a new development.

Of course, I am very aware of all the smashing deals they've had for years. I've probably purchased at least a couple dozen firearms and probably a couple grand in ammo and accessories from them over the past 15-16 years.
Just saying that some companies for whatever reason, even ones that are successful and killing it, end up getting too greedy and it goes downhill. It could be as simple as new management or the value of their company stocks, etc. Many different factors with the same results ..raise prices, stop selling with very little profit margins, then you start losing customers and sales tank...it's just my opinion and a scenario. I respect your thoughts and opinion. Good day

JJE Capital Holdings aka PSA et al may be both greedy and well organized. They own so many firearms companies and former companies tooling and equipment that I'm sure they can make just about any component. Whatever they're doing I hope they can keep it up.
