Bought a Lee universal decapping die last week. Wish I would have seen this first.

I paid about $10 more for mine. I have only used it on pistol brass - so no fighting crimped primers in military rifle brass, but it works like a champ. Put on a ballgame, sit in the recliner, and process a bucket of brass without thinking about it. Once you get a rhythm you can go by feel. Keep a pair of pliers handy for the ones with tight flash holes that don't want to let go of the decapping pin.

Do you have to make sure the depriming pin is in the primer flash hole before you squeeze?

I purchased a Lee Breech Lock Hand Press with a Lee universal decapping die, also the Lee universal shell holder set to deprime my brass. Before I had the shell holders I was putting the brass on and making sure the pin was in the flash hole before it would deprime. So I didn't need the shell holders, but having them now makes it much easier and quicker. Granted, this setup was more expensive, but not having the ensure the pin is in the perfect spot saves a ton of time.

If the case is in properly the pin will want to go there. The entire case holder swivels up on the FA unit...and once the sleeve & nut are close to the case size you are doing, will sort of flip into place. You build a 'flow' with it...or rather, I do. The FA unit comes with 3 plastic insert sleeves that compress/expand to fit the cases you are running. Once that is set, it's pretty simple and intuitive. The only glitch I've run into is once in awhile range pick ups have foreign matter in them (i.e. sand, mud, pebbles, etc.) that you'll know instantly if you missed it. I don't think it gets any easier than this tool for hand decapping. I am very pleased with mine anyway (own 2 of them)...and they don't care if it's large/small primer pockets but obviously don't work on the dual holed steel cases. I just do brass & nickel, I'm sure they'd work on any single flash hole primer though. And like the prior poster, I think regular price is a decent value...don't see these on sale every day. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply! I'll probably end up getting one of these then to try out. My setup works, but it never hurts to have a backup or something different.
