I bought this gun at the same price from Eurooptic about 8 months ago and I really like it. Very accurate and a good value with the night sights and 3 mags. The mags are very stiff so I recommend keeping them loaded for a while to work them in and definitely get a mag loader or you'll tear your thumbs up. They break in fairly quickly after that.
The only bad thing about the FN is the lack of accessories. Extra mags are expensive and good luck finding a new trigger. The trigger on this gun is not good. The reset is decent but the trigger weight is pretty bad for what this gun is supposed to be.
Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore has the FNS-40 Longslide for $299.99 shipped for regular sights, and for $329.99 for night sights.
You should buy it from Sportsman Outdoor Superstore. They have the one with night sights right now for $399.99 and free shipping. Just a thought if you're interested.
These FNS pistols are simply amazing, I own a duty sized FNS in 40 cal stainless and it's great. I haven't shot the 9 long slide but I'd love to and I bet it's equally if not more amazing. At any price these are high quality performers, the fact they regularly go for under 400 bucks in ridiculous, they're made in Fredricksburg VA so I don't really know how they do it for the price. Sold my Glock 23 for my FNS 40 and never looked back. The only thing I like more on the Glocks in the mag lockup and the polymer seems a bit more dense, which admittedly is a pretty big deal. You can tell at the front rail extension when the slide is removed, the FN just feels like it would break sooner then on the glock. When the slide is on however the two guns seem comparable. Also, with the mag out, the mag well and handle just seem like the polymer would be more brittle, but I have no way to confirm this scientifically. A lot of people to grip reductions on their Glocks anyways which I feel would definitely negate any difference. And once again, that difference is only my perception, I haven't seen any instances, thou there is always the exception even with Glock, of issues with FN's polymer. Given FN's history of manufacturing military weapons it gives me a bit more confidence that they know exactly what they are doing and that they pistols have been thoroughly tested. Mine has preformed perfectly and the mags are high quality as well. Barrel profile is thinner than on a Glock but to my recollection FN manufactures very high quality barrels. Take if for what it's worth but these pistols are very good and highly underrated. Tritium night sights on that come standard on the duty version are fantastic as well. For me, this FNS ticks all the right boxes.
Just bought one of these 2 weeks ago. Eurooptic was a pleasure to work with! Awesome customer service. Extremely fast shipping. As for the gun. Out of the box zero jams. Put 100 rounds through it. Came with 3 mags! Also, a huge plus, the comes with NIGHT SIGHTS. Even though it says white sights. When you add to cart, it comes with night sights. The ONLY negative about the gun, the mags are EXTREMELY stiff. You need hulk thumbs to load all 17. Will buy from again! Not disappointed!
these have been on sale for over yr. Oh yeah 7lb trigger pull no thanks
Don’t buy. These have been on the recall list for well over a year.
Which recall are you referring to? The only recall I know of was for a limited amount of pistols manufactured before February 12, 2017. The issue has been since fixed on all gun manufactured after that date. Is there some other bulletin I'm not aware of you're referring to?
As per the FN service bulletin "FN recently became aware of a condition found within the FNS family of pistols that, under a very limited and unlikely set of circumstances, could cause the pistol to delay fire after the trigger is initially pulled. This condition can only be replicated in FNS pistols manufactured before February 12, 2017.
To our knowledge, this delayed-fire condition has only occurred in controlled testing environments; FN has not received any reports of delayed fire in the field under these unusual circumstances.
The condition may result after the FNS pistol slide is forced out of battery at a very small and specific distance, such as what might occur if the muzzle end of the slide is pressed against an object, and the trigger is pulled. The pistol functions as designed and does not fire. However, if the condition occurs, one of two scenarios may result: (1) if the trigger is held to the rear, the pistol could delay firing until the time when the slide moves back into battery, or (2) if force is removed from the trigger and the slide moves back into battery, the pistol could fire if jarred. In the unlikely event that scenario (2) occurs, keep the pistol pointed in a safe direction and rack the slide to the rear to reset the pistol. Avoid a “tap, rack, bang” clearing sequence.
While this condition is highly unlikely to occur in the normal course of operation, out of an abundance of caution FN is offering to substitute the striker in affected FNS-9, FNS-9 Longslide, FNS‑9 Compact, FNS-40, FNS-40 Longslide, and FNS-40 Compact pistols free of charge. Once the striker is replaced, the condition no longer occurs. Not all FNS serial numbers are affected by this condition. Therefore, FNS owners are asked to please use the serial number lookup found below. If the pistol is affected, further instruction on returning the FNS for service will be provided. Note: Please do not ship any affected product to FN until a FedEx label has been generated and sent. If the firearm is not affected, a message stating such will be displayed.
For questions about this service bulletin or assistance in returning an FNS pistol for a substitute striker, contact the FNS support team at 1-800-635-1321, extension 145, or by email at [email protected]. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday."
I ordered the model 66738 listed here, and it has 3-dot night sights.
I'm still debating on this purchase... It does seem like a good deal, made by good company, good overall package.
I have a S&W SD9VE that's 4". I was thinking of a smaller gun for conceal carry. But this deal right now is too good to pass up. I think it's a good entry level competition gun. Any flaws you can point out about the gun so far?
Did anyone who recently ordered this gun know if they still ship them out with the night sights?
Mine was $19.99 shipping and same sales price but it is the LE model with night sights. It's a really nice firearm.
They lowered the price but raised shipping...
I ordered the one with 3 dot White sights and got the night sights. These people are legit and are offering this gun for a great price. I picked mine up today. Seems great!
