The 17s is great. I’d rather have a 20s for a few hundred more though.
You will end up spending more on a super scar trigger anyway. Why not just get the 20s

Why bother buying a SCAR if it's not the 50 Shades Of FDE version?

Overpriced for sure. But in a different league compared to my AR10 in terms of recoil, accuracy, and ease of suppression. I don’t have the NRCH version, but can’t say I would have ever noticed the charging handle if Internet forum commandos hadn’t told me it was supposed to bother me. It’s really a nothingburger.

With AR10’s and 308 bullpups becoming more and more common and higher end, does the SCAR still really have a place? I used to drool over them 5 years ago but now they just seem overpriced. Also FN took decades to change to a non reciprocated charging handle.

You’re comparing apples and oranges.
It’s a completely different system. That’s what you’re paying for. Are they worth it? Yes they are. If you have a dream and the means to own one. There were several guns I wanted but my dream gun was the Scar. I didn’t buy the cheaper guns and just put money away. One day a friend messaged me they had a Scar new in box for 2800. It was mine. That was 5-6 years ago. It’s a great rifle and it’s only gone up in value.

I can respect that! Maybe one day I’ll do the same and make the plunge. Happy shooting sir :)
