how effective is this round? is it worth investing in?

It's an awesome round, and I love it. It has almost no recoil so you can do follow up shots very accurately. However the handgun is very large, and ammo is expensive. I would only really invest in it if you have extra money to throw around. I'd say you get way more for your money with a 9mm. Also the guns that use this caliber are very expensive. The handguns (five seven) are around $1100+. $1100 though is a great price for one, and during panics they go for over $1500 to $2000.

Has anyone else out there placed a backorder for this ammo for more than 15 boxes? I ordered 40 boxes, which went through successfully. However, I later got an email from them saying that due to demand they were going to limit orders to 15 boxes and wanted to know if I would like to keep my order, but reduced to 15 boxes.

I think it's BS since they didn't have the 15 box limit disclaimer posted on their website(and they still don't). I imagine the truth of the situation is that I got too good of a deal, because I am a new customer and clicked around until I got the best 2nd offer to join the Buyer's Club which doubled the discount on my ammo order to 10% with free shipping, stacked on an $11 off coupon AND used the fatwallet portal to get an additional 5% off as well. This brought my final price to $702.06(738.59 paid to them before fatwallet credit estimate) shipped for 2000 rounds and it was all completely legit.

So, has anyone else ordered more than 15 boxes without getting their order cancelled?

Thanks for the reply.

Well, it turns out, when I finally got around to calling them to find out what the updated price would be and/or if they were going to try to remove any of my discounts/free shipping etc, the girl I spoke with said that she was just going to let me keep my order, because if she dropped it I would lose it at this point since the backorders are maxed out now.

So, I'll apparently be able to keep my order even though they sent me that email, which is good. I did ask her why they sent me the email about a 15 box limit since this wasn't stated in the item listing on the site. She said that a lot of people miss it and that it is hard to see, but that it is stated there. I checked the site again after I got off the phone and she's right...it must be very hard to see because I sure don't see it.

Anyways, all good.

So, it turns out, after all that I went through with them, I got an email from FatWallet this morning(NO email from SG) stating my cashback bonus had changed with a minus credit for the exact amount of my SG order credit. So I logged into SG to check out my order status and the fuckers had flat out cancelled it now, 2 weeks after everything was "resolved."

Absolute pathetic customer service and I'm guessing it was entirely because of the deal i managed to put together with my order. I WAS a first-time customer to their site and had planned to buy a lot more from them since I would finally be enrolled in their ridiculous buyer's program, but at this point I will never order from them again. I am frequent purchaser of firearms/ammo and SG will get none of my future business.

backordered... blah... I have a case of 223 ammo from these guys on backorder. Been on backorder since September.... of 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was way before the real ammo crap started so I blame them. I get an email every couple of weeks asking if I still want it to stay on backorder. Sure do... It's my reminder that these guys can't plan.

Heh, I order from SPG expecting to get the 'backorder' email. I've had 8 cases of various ammo on back order from SPG since last year. Some started trickling in around March, then April, 3 cases in June, then August, just a case of Silver Bear 308 and Golden Bear 7.62x39 still outstanding now. All my 223 backorder has come in over the months (PMC Bronze and PMC XTac). It can be a pain, but it all came with pre-madness pricing so I'm happy about that. :D
