I picked one up today. Had some gift cards and was waiting for something that I couldn't beat the price on from Cabelas. I own a few CZ pistols and really enjoy them. Have been waiting for a good entry over under with ejectors. This checked all the boxes and after reading reviews about the manufacturer CZ-Usa imports for, Huglu, I learned it's basically a no frills browning action with beretta style barrels. Pretty good starting points if you aren't going to be trying to create your own design.

Out of the box impressions were good. The designs on the frame are simple, but there. Internals have a lot of milling marks, but they are symmetrical and no burrs. Overall the feel and fit and finish is very good. The action is tight, but I have read it will loosen after the first 100 shots. The weight and balance feel great. The trigger is a little heavy (5.5lb), but has a very small travel with a solid wall and short reset. Overall really happy with the feel and can't wait to take it out.

"I learned it's basically a no frills browning action with beretta style barrels"

From where/who did you learn this?

I am not retracing my steps. I watched some YouTube videos and read google reviews of the Huglu over under line. This Teal version is a Cabelas exclusive. But it's basically the same as another version with a black finish instead of nickel. Researched that model, because Cabelas version doesn't have a lot. Found nothing but good things. So I went with it. Took it out and had no problems shooting . I think my only complaint on the design is the butt plate doesn't cover the enter back. The very top of it is hard, not rubber like the rest. A few times when I pulled up quickly to shoot, I had the hard part against my shoulder and felt it. Otherwise, can't beat the gun for the money as far as I am concerned.

No one asked to retrace steps but to cite your source(s) for the comment about it being a knock-off of a Browning action. Youtube videos? There are two on the Teal, both are very short, and neither reference the action or make any Browning comparisions. The other version you are referring to which the Teal is a clone of is the Redhead Premier and that info comes directly from CZ's Marketing Dept. Cabelas' website has roughly two dozen reviews on the Teal for anyone looking for user reviews of the Teal itself. (Thank you redder1.) One can also look up reviews for the Redhead Premier on various sites including CZ's own where the public can post reviews. These should serve as a guide to the Teal's quality as well as one is a copy of the other minus the receiver's color. Note for future buyers: it's NOT a Drake clone. To make this deal even better go over to raise.com and buy a bunch discounted gift cards. Cheers!

I just wrote a summary. I did my research and bought one. I rattled off what I learned from off the top of my head. I didn't create a bibliography before I post of Gun.deals. Sorry buddy. the information is there if you want to go find it yourself. It wasn't a user review, it was a blogger that shoots sporting clays and trap. Knew way more than anyone else I had ready reviews of. Also, you actually get a better deal going through Ebay for gift cards that are 20 off 100 up to 3 per order at a time. They are physical cards, so you have to wait for shipping, but only take about a week.

Summary wasn't needed, just the source to back up the one statement. The rest wasn't relevant. The opinion of a blogger who owns or has used a Teal isn't also a user review? Interesting. In any case it sounds like "this is a Browning clone" is the view of a blogger which is fine. In speaking to CZ at length about the gun at no point was Browning mentioned which would be an incentive to buy it especially considering an actual Browning would have a MSRP that's about double the Teal at least. Yeah, the cards are good too but the site with the better deal varies and you run the risk of having them stolen in the mail. Also, when Cabela's has a flash sale as they do throughout the year waiting for cards to arrive just doesn't work and with raise you can use the ecards immediately.

Any good as a starter gun for trap?

I have shot this CZ Teal for a few months. So far so good. If you read the Q&As on Cabela’s webpage, this OU is actually the Cabela’s version of CZ Redhead Premier with black receiver.

I have owned a CZ Redhead 12 GA for about a dozen years and it's been a stellar performer. Since this Teal is also available in 20 GA I picked up one in 20 GA for the wife, women and children in my family so they can enjoy some trap shooting at the farm with less recoil. I think I will also enjoy shooting it.

Picked my 20 GA up today. Very nice shotgun. Hope to put some shells through it at the farm range this weekend. Cabelas is a pain in the rear when it comes to picking up guns. What takes 5 mins or less at my preferred FFL takes 30+ minutes at Cabelas.

Picked this up over Black Friday only shot about 100 rounds so far. I don’t think there is a better field over under at this price point. It’s very similar to the cz’s drake but the teal has ejectors instead of extractors. Here is a good review on the drake.

Anyone have any good intel on this shotgun? I’m looking for an over/under for some seriously part time skeet. Any good picks out there that won’t kill the bank??
