CZ-USA® Bren 2S 7.62x39mm Semi-automatic Pistol Introducing the next generation of the legendary Bren. Whereas the 805 Bren was designed to a specific set of requirements set out by the Czech military, the Bren 2 is a clean-sheet design. With a bevy of changes, the most noticeable is sure to be the strict weight-loss regimen that the Bren 2 has undergone. With a trimmed-down aluminum receiver and a lower made from carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, the result is a robust but substantially lighter gun. Gone is the reciprocating charging handle, replaced with one that stays stowed in the forward position until it is needed. Swap-able from side to side, it does double duty as a forward assist. Also added is an AR-style bolt catch/release system, as well as a catch/release nestled into the front of the trigger guard. The Bren 2S Pistol comes with a flush rear plate that can accept an AR-style buffer tube for the installation of an arm brace, cheek rest, or similar stabilizing device. For those who wish to SBR, a carbine buffer tube and stock can be installed, or the entire rear plate can be removed and replaced with a factory folding/adjustable stock. In short, CZ thought of just about everything when creating the Bren 2S, delivering a modern, soft-shooting 7.62 Pistol that performs superbly and is a hoot to shoot. The 2S vs. the 2 Ms For those of you wondering about the differences between the 2S and the 2 Ms, they're very similar. The 2S is essentially a "pre-production" early release of the 2 Ms. The biggest difference is the upper receiver: the 2S features relief cuts that helps reduce the weight by 5 ounces compared to the 2 Ms. The 2S also features a different handguard with (2) M-LOK® slots per side, as opposed to the single M-LOK slot found on each side of the 2 Ms. The 2S also features a standard Picatinny rail where the 2 Ms features a dished Picatinny rail.
