Is this another version of the Tanfoglio imported by EAA? Would the Tangfoglion really be worth the $30 more? Only dif is the rail on the T. I have a T and it rocks solid. No dremel. I guess I got lucky or the $30 was just worth it. But I was thinking of getting this one too and the $30 off would pay for shipping, transfer, and a box of ammo.

The SAR B6P has a squarish polymer block in the back just reaer of the safety. On the new Wtness Polymer this has been smoothed out.

The Witness and B6P are two different guns made by two different manufacturers. They are both copies of the CZ design.

The full size Witness has a rail, different rear sight, and a slightly different grip and texturing.

You can get them for around $10-$20 more than this would be.

If you look at the magazine face-on, (as if the bullet tips were facing you), you can see the slot on the left is a little lower than the slot on the right. (If you're looking at the back of the magazine, this would be the slot on the right).

So I went to Home Depot and bought the diamond tip for my Dremel. I took a little less than 1/32" off the top of just the slot on the right and the mag goes in easily now, but still fits in tight and releases fine.

Purchased the 19rd Mec-Gar CZ75B magazine for this - MGCZ7519AFC, Sportsman's Guide actually had them cheaper than anywhere else. It fits but not smoothly, I really have to slap that mag in there otherwise it doesn't click in.

I'd advise checking the mag too - to make sure it is fully seated.

This will be the mag that is in the gun, I'll use the the magazine that came with the SAR B6P as the spare - I wouldn't want to use this 19 round mag during a stress reload.

Every company is going to have a % of defects . plus its cheap because the labor is cheaper than here that's all. I own the same gun with 0 issues .

I bought one, had a buldge in the poly frame, after 100 rounds the trigger pin started walking out, the barrel crown was scarred up. You want cheap, you pay cheap you get cheap and good luck getting parts. If you do have to send it in for warranty work I wish you better luck than I had.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The Good:

Well kind of an executive summary here – the price and the value are pretty good . Two hundred and forty two bucks for a CZ clone that works – is a pretty good deal.

The fit and finish is good, I don't see tool marks on this pistol – even in places where it doesn't matter like the inside of the slide.

The pistol was fairly clean when I received it. It had been test fired and cleaned, and there was a tiny amount of carbon in the barrel and on the breach face – but no big deal. There wasn't excessive oil, gobs of grease or gook in the gun, no dust, debris or plastic or metal shavings.

The gun is shootable, not too much recoil with various 9mm ammo, but its what you'd expect with a full-sized nine.

The gun is accurate - not 25 yard competition accurate, but it is generally accurate. I know rating a trigger is subjective and I don't think the SA trigger is as good as some of the reviewers have led me to believe, but I am able to create 3” groups at 10 yards standing, shooting offhand and that’s good enough for me for a gun that I basically have for a truck gun.

The gun seems reliable – so far. I shot a little over 350 rounds and the gun cycled everything I fed it – 115gr Winchester White box FMJ, 124gr Blazer Brass FMJ, 147gr bonded Golden Saber, 147gr Winchester Ranger “T” Series, 147gr Federal HST, 124gr Lawman TMJ, 115gr Federal “Champion” FMJ. 124gr Gold Dots and a box of 115gr Perfecta FMJ. It also fed 123gr ZQI "NATO", Federal 115gr Aluminum, and Wolf 115gr steel-cased ammo. I also mixed different cartridges within the same mag. I didn't experience any problems. I even put some cartridges in there that had experiences light strikes from other guns and the B6P fired them off with no problems.

The gun comes in a really nice case. I know this isn't very high on people's list of priorities but I've paid 3 times more for a gun from S&W and it came in a cardboard box. Getting a nice case is a pleasant bonus when you're buying a budget gun.

The Bad:

The manual safety is very stiff. I can flick it off, but I can't engage the safety while gripping the gun normally, I have to change my grip to get my thumb pad totally under the lever to push it up. I can't just flick it up with the inside of my thumb.

The slide is hard to rack. Other people have noted that the slide is hard to rack. I work out with Captains of Crush grippers 3 times a week and I have to admit, the slide is not easy to rack. The slide rides inside the frame and there just isn't a whole lot of slide sticking out to get a good purchase.

If anyone ever needs to send this pistol in for warranty work – they're going to have to pay both ways. EAA won't issue an airway bill and the instruction for sending it in says to be sure to include $20 for return shipping.

Also there is only a 1 year warranty and only for the original owner. I guess I'm spoiled by lifetime warranties.

The trigger gives your finger a little thwack with every shot. I started to notice it after 50 rounds and the trigger slap really gets annoying if you’re going to try to spend a day at the range shooting the B6P

The Ugly:

Whatever coating they use on the manual safety and the slide stop lever is already showing signs of wear and I can see the sheen of bare metal starting to show through.

The double-action trigger is very heavy. I've heard it improves quite a bit with firing but right now it is barely usable.

The Mediocre and Miscellaneous:

I heard where so many people thought the single-action trigger was good, but I don't think it is. There is IMO, a lot of take up, about a 1/16th of an inch, and then maybe 1/8th of an inch of travel before the trigger breaks, just seems like a lot of travel for an SA trigger and the SA trigger is fairly heavy, at least for an SA trigger. My trigger also wiggles from side to side, there seems to be too much play - left to right movement on the trigger.

The sights are just so-so. They're a narrow affair and I would prefer a little bit more daylight between the front post and the rear notches, its just personal preference I suppose. They're three dot sights so you really don't need the daylight bordering the front sight. They're good enough for combat accuracy. I was able to create 3” 5-shot groups so they're not horrible sights.

The gun only comes with 1 magazine. I guess I can't complain about it though I wanted cheap and getting only 1 magazine is part of cheap.

General comments:

I realize that most of the comments are negative but if I think of it in terms of other options for a truck gun given that I wanted to go cheap, the B6P seemed the best option when I compare the B6P to the other cheapish guns out there. My criticism of the SA trigger is just speaking about an SA trigger in general. If I compare the SA trigger on the B6P to the trigger on guns in this similar price range, the SAR B6P wins hands down – so I guess it is all relative.

My gun came with a 15-round magazine and it really is a 15-round magazine. There was some talk on forums that the magazines might say 15 but would hold 16 or 17 and I can tell you that the magazine I received will only hold 15 rounds. Yes I know the product description says "SAR 4.5" 16+1 polymer-framed, SA/DA B6P" but 16 rounds are not going in the magazine I received. Mec-Gar does make 17rd and 19rd magazines for this gun.

I purchased the pistol for a total of $241.43 from Sportsman Guide. Sportsman's Guide really plays around with prices and different numbers. They advertised a price of $237.49 but that is with membership to their buyer's club which is $29.99 per year and the regular price is $249.99 plus $9.99 shipping but then I received an offer to join the buyers club for 6 months free and as part of that they would waive shipping fees but then they add a $9.99 fee for firearms period – so when you are dealing with Sportsman Guide you really have to get out your calculator and start adding and subtracting all of their different prices, deals, discounts, offers, fees and everything to see if the gun really is a good deal or not. When all the adding and subtracting was done, I ended up spending $241.43 for the B6P.

Personally I would be hesitant to buy a firearm from Sportsman Guide, they are legit but on the shady side IMHO. They advertise magazines by the OEM name but ship aftermarket stuff.

Update #1. 8-14

Looks like the dremmel did the trick using the Diamond Point 5/64 . I will take it to the range tomorrow for testing.

Update #2 8-15

I got this gun and a 16-rd 9mm CZ75B Mec-Gar mag yesterday. You need to slam the Mec-Gar hard for it to seat fully , but not with slide open.

Not sure if this trick will work

"This mag will work in a SAR B6P 4.5 inch if you raise the slot on the right side about 1/16 inch with a dremmel tool..Don't waste your time with a file because the steel is too hard"

I ordered 2 19rd mags for $53.maybe that will solve the issue

I don't see 16-rd Mec-Gar mags, for CZ75B, I see they make a 17-rd mag for CZ75B

Also - according to Kirk Kramer, the Mec-Gar magazines for the CZ 75B fit the SAR B6P

I see people complain about this on every deal. Just find a screaming deal, and use it to jump off into the membership.

I got 1,000 rounds of 9x18 shipped for $160. Even with the 29.99 membership, it would be a great deal. But they also gave me two $15 off coupons, with no minimum order. I just paid shipping, and literally got $30 of merchandise for free (that's the cost of the membership! ).

They frequently offer free shipping, many times with no minimum order, and double your discount specials. The only reason not to be a member is stubbornness. If you're deal savvy, you can make more than your money back.

In fact, during their "members exclusive sales" I have routinely bought items that are a third of their retail price. I got an 8 person tent for $45, shipped, that was $150 everywhere else online (I flipped it for a very healthy and profit).

Don't get put off by the membership, because it's like a gym membership. They make money off the guys that DON'T use it. If you take advantage of it, you'll be the one saving (and even making) money. I highly suggest you also sign up for their emails.

I scooped up one of these from CDNN when they had them on sale for $250 and $20 something for shipping. It came with a nice case but only one mag. They had extra mags for around $20 ea, I got an extra two. A great bargain for this high capacity copy of a CZ75. Dependable and affordable, the CDNN folks were great. They also offer a .40 S&W version for about the same price. Good value!

I got my pistol about a week ago and finally had a chance to take it out shooting yesterday. This pitol did not disappoint. 60 rounds of accurate, flawless shooting. When I first got it in person I found the grip on the slide to be a little small for my hands but after a little practice it's not really that big of a deal. All and all it was a good buy.

bulldogman that sucks, it really does sound like you got a lemon. Because I seriously could not be more happy with mine. In fact I just back from camping his weekend and I took my two SARs and left the Glocks at home. Now with that being said my Glock G27 is my EDC. So I guess I'm a walking contradiction. But I really hope you can find some solutions for your issues.

I must have got one built on Friday afternoon, the rails are not right, the trigger pin backs out and the barrel crown was terrible and it is no tack driver but is reliable no jams etc..

Ok you want it, here is my commentary. First SAR produces unbelievable handguns, you would not believe the quality packed into this weapons internals. How about feed ramps polished to a jewel quality shine. Mine feeds everything, factory rounds, cheap ass Tula, reloads, everything. I own three Glocks and while I cannot crank off rounds as fast out of these I am actually more accurate with the B6P, I call it my tack driver. Now with that said, I am not 100% thrilled with the ergonomics of the B6P, I actually prefer it's little brother the B6Pc the 13 round compact, that's actually my go to gun. Oh and I have the witness too, also a great gun, almost identical to the B6P. But it has a rail. Do you plan on mounting a light or laser? Then the witness is the way to go, if not, you will search the planet trying to find a better deal on a better gun and it just doesn't exist in my opinion.

Can someone please tell me which is the better handgun! Is it the Witness or the Sar B6P! I am finding it hard to make a decision!

I have one of these, paid $300 shipped with 2 mags mid 'crisis' in 2013. My cheapest pistol and one of my fav. I couldn't believe the level of work when I opened the box.

I was going to trade it off to in-law for a G22 as he wanted 9mm only; nope, sorry, I like it too much. Maybe at this price I'll buy another and sell his Glock.

Bang for the buck it's the sar. Your really having a hard time trying to pick a cz clone.
Take a moment and google if the sar takes cz mags. Then go to gregcote llc and compare prices on cz vs witness mags. For your last exercise in google fu visit your favorite online retailers and find out which is the more available mag.

It sucks when you get a great price on a weapon only to see the savings evaporate when it comes to adding extra mags.

I have the EAA Witness P-S, the CZ75B Omega, and the SAR B6PC

The Witness mags will function in all of the above. The CZ mags will function in all of the above. Of course, the SAR mags will work in the SAR only because they are the short 13 rounders, but every other mag is interchangeable between all 3, whether it's a 19 round Mec Gar for the CZ, or a 16 round E-lander for the Witness, or the factory for either one.

Don't care much for CDNN, but the freakin Turkish piece is good well beyond its price. They're imported with 1 mag only, but a 2nd one should be under $30, and the pistol is sooo inexpensive but so well finished. Try one, and you'll understand.

You do realize that it says right in the description 1-17 round magazine, not 2. I have purchased this handgun plus two other EAA SARarms handguns before and all of them only came with the one magazine. That's just how they package them they are all that way. But again it's warns you of that in the description so it shouldn't be a surprise. Also by the way these are incredible guns for the price, I love mine!

I realize it comes with 1 mag. The additional mag i paid extra for was never shipped. cdnn refuses to believe it was not in the package. So i have to eat the purchase because they screwed up. im sure the weapon is great. But CDNN integrity and customer service is not.

That sucks. They sent me a Beretta 92 mag instead of a Taurus 92 I ordered. I just modified it and lived with it...

I purchased this gun from cdnn along with an extra mag. The box only came with the gun and no extra mag. Cdnn refuses to believe they screwed up and won't send the mag. They want me to pay 24+tax+s/h again for another. Thumbs down to cdnn and "Owen" the cocky shipping manager.

Hello toolness1,
So if you were going to by one which would you buy? The poly or steel frame? Also what do you think of the Canik line?

0 votes
0 votes

That's a hard one because I only have the SAR compact, and not this full size one. And I have the Witness P-S which is basically the same as the full size SAR B6P, except has a rail.

I like having the rail, and I like the large floorplate on the Witness magazines, BUT the SAR's are made a little better. They have nicer triggers, better machine work, etc. It's not a huge difference, but you do notice it when you look at the two side by side.

You can't go wrong with either one. I think if you don't care about the rail, go with the SAR. If you want a rail, you won't be disappointed in the Witness.

I've only held a Canik TP-9 (the poly one) and I was hugely turned off by it. The thing was just terrible, it had extra poly hanging off it from where the mold filled out and wasn't trimmed, the sights looked like they were painted with a wicker broom, the action was gritty as heck, and the trigger was worse than a Hi Point.

I really wanted to like it, I like the affordable guns that are often overlooked. But, that thing was junk. I can't say they are all that way, maybe my friend just got a bad one.

I think the CZ clones made by Canik look real nice, and I've heard good things about them. Hopefully my friend just got a poor example of the TP-9. I know I've seen good reviews for those as well. But IMO my SAR B6P9C makes the TP-9 look like absolute junk, and the SAR was cheaper!

To my mind, one of the best CZ clones is the Tristar Canik55 C-100. (OK, OK, I admit that I like pretty much all of the CZ clones.)

Anyway, the precision-made C-100 has an alloy body, so it is lightweight (1.5 lbs. unloaded). This model makes an excellent CCW.

An honorable mention goes to the duty size L-120, as well as to the versions seemingly styled with Buck Rogers in mind: the T-100 and T-120.

(BTW, DOMINATOR ARMS, I personally prefer an alloy pistol body over both steel and polymer.)

I don't own a B6P, yet. I do have two Canik 55 pistols, a t-120 and c-100. Both have been 100% reliable, both use common CZ75 magazines and both shoot to POA. I am seriously considering working the c-100 into my daily carry rotation. That is saying something as I've only ever carried Sig pistols.

I would buy this one for $269. I spent a few hours last night reading all over the internet about this gun, and it's an unbelievable deal. I'm extremely tempted to pick one up.

The Caniks look to be $330+, and I haven't read much about them.

These are a crazy good deal.

I started with the CZ75 type pistols 3 years ago with an EAA (Tanfoglio) Witness-P and was very impressed with the quality for a sub $300 gun. I've got 2K rounds through that and no problems. Then I got the SAR B6P compact and it was even nicer than the Witness.

Finally, I went for the real deal and got a CZ75B Omega a week ago. Now, the CZ is the nicest, but I can honestly say the SAR is not that far off quality wise... If you don't mind the poly frame vs all steel. I see SAR makes a steel framed B6P, but it's only ~10-20 bucks cheaper than a 75B Omega.

Every time I see these posted I am compelled to let people know this gun is an absolute STEAL. The Witness-P is great, too. But the SAR is a little nicer and has a better (lighter, smoother) trigger.

What He Said.. Absolute Steal. Got the compact when GAB had them for 249. Amazing to buy a pistol that the manufacture knows will work right out of the box.

I love the ergonomics on the compact. It's probably the pistol that fits THE best in my hand out of everything I've held. The safety was real stiff and took some breaking in (not that I really use it) but that's my only complaint.

I want to try the all steel B6. http://www.vizardsgunsandammo.com/product-p/gun-400.htm...

300 bucks...
