A Little About This Unique 9mm AR9!

Why spend hundreds of dollars to shoot 9mm through an AR platform? Using a simple, easy to install magazine insert, Mean Endomag 9mm PMAG insert has revolutionized the way you shoot small caliber ammunition from any 5.56 AR15 platform. We here at 22Mods4All have personally ran over 1,000 rounds of 9mm through the Endomag insert and have found it to be extremely reliable and easy to install and use. It was this quality, and the desire to give our customers a better, cheaper option, that made us pull the trigger on this product...literally.

How does it work?

Mean Arms, the company known for making the AR-15/AR-10 magazine loaders, has introduced a new product called EndoMag. This is basically a 9mm conversion kit for 5.56/.223 Gen2 and Gen3 30 round Magpul PMAGs. The converted PMAGs will work with standard AR-15 lower receivers and Glock or Colt magazine compatible 9mm bolts.

The advantages of this product are that you can use an unmodified (no magazine well inserts or adapters) AR-15 lower receivers and turn your PMAGs into 9mm magazines. The disadvantage is that your 9mm magazine will have the dimensions of a 5.56 one. On the other hand, these magazines will fit in standard AR-15 magazine pouches and the magazine manipulations will feel the same as with standard AR-15 magazines.

Mean Arms EndoMag retains the last round hold open capability and also has a built-in ejector. According to the company, their magazine conversion works with 9x19mm ammunition loaded with all kinds of projectiles including hollow points. The EndoMag comes with a follower extension that limits the magazine capacity to 10 rounds to make it legal in the states with restrictive legislation. However, it can be easily modified to become a magazine of 15, 20 or 30 round capacity.

In order to convert the PMAGs into 9mm magazines, all you need is to disassemble the PMAG and replace the original magazine spring and follower with the Mean Arms EndoMag. This process doesn’t require a use of any specialized tools and doesn’t make any permanent modifications to your PMAGs – you can convert them back to 5.56/223 as easy as they were turned into 9mm mags.

Some Key Functions

1. No modifications to your 5.56x45 lower! Changing calibers is now simply a complete 9mm upper for your AR platform. No nuts, no bolts, no drilling.
2. Last round bolt-hold open feature, just as an AR15 should function.
3. Built-in ejector designed to perform under intense conditions.
4. Convert your 5.56x45 PMAGⓇ to 9mm in seconds, and easily convert back to 5.56 without damaging your PMAGⓇ. No permanent changes to anything!
5. Specially formulated polymer.

I bought just the Endo mags to convert some pmags. All I can say is wow, I put 350 rounds through them on my last range trip. Not one single problem, even fed up and locked back on every empty mag. From what I have experienced, those dedicated 9mm lowers aren't as good as these mags with a regular lower.

Isn’t it funny when negative comments come, some jackball comes along and says how great the product is?

Hey, just stating my experience with the product. I bought it and it worked better than what I thought it would. I thought that was what the comment section was for.

But, seeing as you seem to have a fascination with jacking balls and fuzzy butts, maybe your in the wrong section of the internet?

I’m simply stating this seems to be a trend. White knights are real, I guess

How can you not know what a jackball is?

Neat concept but for $30-40 a mag (conversion kit + PMAG) you can buy a dedicated 9mm lower real quick. Not seeing any cost savings...even if reliability wasn't a concern I would be extremely hesitant at buying anywhere near this price point.

As always we appreciate your guys' input on these things. Being a new item to the catalogue, we're doing our best to find the right price point for the sale. However, other complete 9mm builds right now are being sold well above $500, and that's just with a dedicated 9mm lower. These 9mm are lower priced and essentially come with a lower that can be swapped into your standard 5.56 upper (it's like having 2 guns in one). There's value added there, and while I know it's a new product and people have questions on price and reliability I can tell you that we too were skeptical at first before stocking this. However, after putting 1,000 rounds through the demo we knew we had to have it. I think you guys will like this, and if for whatever reason you didn't, we have a quick and easy return/refund/repair policy and limited lifetime warranty. Also, just to clarify, we sell the magazine conversion kit with the PMAG housing for $25, not $30-40. That should save you even more in the long run.

A few cost comparisons for anyone who is interested or has questions:

9mm Complete Gun with PMAG Housing & Conversion Device $499
Add a 5.56 Upper Receiver $159
Add any PMAG+Endomag 9mm Conversion Device $25
Add a 5.56 BCG $69

Total:
You can have 2 completely functional firearms in both 9mm and 5.56 with 2 magazines for a total of $752. Take both to the range and you can change them out in less than 2 minutes. In addition, your 9mm AR9 has the same weight and feel of your 5.56 AR15 which means better accuracy and muscle memory. Especially great for any competitive shooter.

Actually your conversion kit with the PMAG is $33 (in line with what I stated) and WITHOUT the PMAG for $25.

Again, great concept and truly innovative however, I personally, for this investment, think a dedicated lower would be a better choice. Some people might feel this is worth it if they have dozens of extra mags laying around, would prefer 9mm that drop right into M4 mag pouches, might prefer the same handling for either caliber. This has its pluses, don't get me wrong.
