Presumption first blinds a man, then sets him a running.

You presume much. My argument was directed towards mfg's that cheap out w/ less durable cardboard.

$6 retail. So, when a gun maker cheaps out and sells/ ships their firearm in a cardboard box...... they're probably saving a whopping $2-3 wholesale. Cost accounting and extrapolating sales profit forecasts only serve to disappoint the current customer. Negatively influencing said customer's experience, thereby, jeopardizing any return purchases in the short term.

That also means that when a gun maker sells a gun without a nice box, the end user doesn't end up with a plastic case he doesn't need taking up extra space he doesn't have, or having to feel guilty about throwing away a gimmicky plastic box that might've otherwise raised the resale value.

Personally, I'd prefer guns 600-700$ or so and lower to come with no box, and guns above that to come with a premium box much better than this one (Springfield Armory style or better). If you'd really wish all guns came with a plastic case, either you're not keeping them all, or you haven't accumulated enough guns yet for them to become a nuisance. Anyway, to each his own. I see your point, it's just that there are different types of customers, 'tis all.
