Not bad at all. Almost back to previous prices! The Magpul substitutions are nice, too.

This rifle has been at another onliner for 1199$ for a few weeks FYI not sure if I'm supposed to link. 3% and ~shipping.

All controversy aside would you buy a 6920 or a CMMG 30af8c3 C300 Blackout. Forgive I don't have the depth of knowledge of some here.

Thats not a bad price for a Colt.
Let the resellers panic once everyone knows about rifles flooding the market.

"Meh" at the price or the gun itself? From what I can tell, seems like the lowest price out there. (This and the other "meh" you posted here: https://gun.deals/product/colt-le6920mp-b-m4-carbine-556-nato-16-barrel-9-rnds-magpul-moe-111999...)

The Gun. It's not a bad price for this gun, and it has the upgraded furniture, (although it's really inexpensive furniture), and it has a chrome lined barrel. You pay more for the "Colt" logo rolled on the side, as most (if not all but the barrel) are now outsourced by CMT or LMT who makes parts for everyone. I have a Colt 6940, and it isn't anything special, or better than any of the other AR's I have. The only advantage to a Colt is the resale value is slightly higher if you are planning on selling it down the road.

If you are looking to stay around $1000 and do not want to build your own, then this isn't a bad starting place. There is a big jump from the $1000 price point to the $1300-$1500 price point

Here is a far better option, including Back up sights, a Aimpoint Pro optic, mid lenghth, chrome lined Barrel....you can swap out the furniture anytime, better to have good bones.....

Thanks for the info. I didn't know Colt outsourced their parts. Is that just speculation or are you able to supply a source for that info?

Also, just to understand this better.. you mentioned Colt outsourcing their parts almost as a bad thing, but if the parts are being made by a quality manufacturer, in my mind that wouldn't detract from the quality of rifle at all. I'm only assuming that if Colt truly is outsourcing their parts, then they've probably taken the time to choose a manufacturer that can produce the same quality that Colt could, if not better. And when you mention the PSA rifle as a better solution, are you saying they make ALL of their own parts?

luckydog: you are exactly correct they outsource to those that make high quality and as such this is why what you see in this deal is a high quality rifle. The troll has this superiority complex as you can tell. The PSA is not necessarily a better or worse solution. It really depends on what you want in a rifle. Did you want a holographic sight? That is chunk of what you are paying for in that rifle. It has a nice chrome lined barrel but frankly you wont need one. In my personal opinion it has a few nice aspects but overall is inferior to the Colt, but that's just my personal opinion. Apparently the troll called firsts on helping you and anyone else who attempts is his stalker. It would appear someone is off their meds.

As Kennyboy (my stalker ) stated, you can find a lot of useful info at ar15.com. I figured I would grab it for you, and add to it, but apparently that is not acceptable to him. I apologize for trying to help..

Any further questions ask Kenny...he is the resident expert....LOL

Exactly my point.....why pay extra for the parts made by LMT or CMT because of the name put on at the end manufacturer......

Outsourcing isn't a bad thing if they are built in spec....I am NOT saying that, I am simply saying, if all things are created equal...EX, a 16" Mid Length CL/MP/CHF barrel.......why pay more for it because its a PSA, or a Spikes etc....?

The PSA is a better solution, because it has a better barrel, and it comes with a $300 red Dot on it....... Not because it is any one brand or not. People tend to get tied up in brand names on gun.deals, forgetting that these parts are all the same....you just need to get the parts at a fair price from a reputable company.

Again, this COLT isn't bad, and I never stated that. I simply stated that there may be better options.

Colt uses CMT for their Bolt carriers or LMT. Most companies with Military contracts outsource.....it is pretty common knowledge. FN makes most of your Machine Gun CHF barrels, LMT and CMT make most of the internal parts.

Some Barrels are made in house, but most are ER Shaw or Green mountain ...some recent Colts *have* had Green Mountain barrels - they can be identified by the stamped "G" on the chamber end under the handguards. Bolt Carriers are contracted by LMT and CMT. (those companies have DOJ contracts for replacement and upgrade kits)

Colt has the capacity to manufacture most if not all of their components in-house, but like any sensible company, if and when they are at their production capacity they will subcontract - subcontracted parts are still OEM parts, however - built, tested, and QA/QC approved to their standards.

Lower contractors:
LMT = LMT, Lauer(old), DS Arms, PWA, Eagle, Knights Armament, Barrett, Bushmaster (?)
CMT = Stag, RRA, High Standard, Noveske (old), Century (current), Global Tactical, CLE, S&W, MGI (1st batch), Wilson Tactical, (some?) Colt, Ratworx
LAR = Grizzly, Bushmaster (L Prefix), Ameetech, (?)DPMS, CMMG, Double Star, Fulton, Spike's Tactical, Noveske (new)
MMS = Mega, Gunsmoke, Dalphon, POF (forged), Alexander Arms, Stinger, Spike's Tactical(old)
JVP = Double Star, LRB
Olympic = Olypmic, SGW, Tromix, Palmetto, Dalphon, Frankford, (old) Century
Superior = Superior Arms, Lauer (current)

http://courantblogs.com/dan-haar/company-that-makes-colt-ar-15-rifles-opening-factory-in-texas/...

Its a closely guarded secret who makes what in the industry. Without pulling DOJ records, and such I am not going to take the time here....it is common knowlege that LMT and CMT make the majority of parts to Mil-Spec for most companies.

he is just t rolling because below his post I had said I would get one if I did not already have. generally probably a good idea to ignore him. This is a good firearm and a good price for it. It is not super fancy or anything but it is a good rifle and fairly priced.

edit: It is a heck of a lot better than that Sig you were asking about at Buds.

he is right about the outsourcing per se but that isn't really anything new. Aero use to make most parts of a lot of companies until they decided to do it under their own logo. I believe CMT probably built this but they are good (better than psa). The PSA rifle he linked is good but not better, it is different. It comes with a pretty hollow graphic sight but it has the most basic hand guard and stock you can find and other than the pretty good barrel it is completely basic. The Colt has while not terribly expensive all the ancillary parts upgraded to the magpul moe which can easily have rails added for other toys you may want to add on. This is not an option with the PSA one without changing the hand guard. Frankly the FDE looks better too. With prices dropping like a rock if you are not sure what you want, take your time as there are a lot of options out there. My first AR was $700 one with a spikes lower and random upper and it shot tacks and I loved it so you don't necessarily have to pay a lot for a good rifle either.

Again...you are beating a dead horse.....I explained this to him...thanks.

So you are saying that a Chrome lined barrel isn't better if you can get it for the same price? And again, you are saying he may not want a Holo sight, but then you state he DOES want the cheap Magpul Furniture instead? LOL OK....that makes sense. Lets pay more for the "Pig with lipstick" than the solid rifle with a a better barrel and BCG......that is also mid length......

again, let him decide, I was giving him options. VChanging furniture is something that anyone can do in ten minutes and and allen wrench ! The Magpul handguard is a $29 part...not a big deal.

so lets look at this:

PSA: Better CL barrel, better Mid length, FA M-16 BCG, and an Aimpoint Holo Sight......all these are UPGRADES OVER THE COLT...for the same price.....

You could buy the PSA, and sell the Aimpoint for at least $200...and then upgrade the furniture....then have a better rifle and get beers.......

The girl had never seen one before and had no clue why it came in.

I bought this model (for my wife) at Walmart last week for $1097.00 It is not a normal model for them and they could not tell me if they would ever get another. Happy to have it. They had a 6920 SOCOM for $1447.00 and foolishly I passed on it.
