$249 for a lower? When the government is your largest purchaser you really get out of touch about current market pricing.

I think you might misunderstand the fundamentals of supply, demand and branding. But your screen name already tells me that

I think you might be misunderstanding branding as a value to anyone other than the seller or stock holder. Also, you seem to think the selling price defines the item's worth. Are a pair of "Jordan's" worth $300 or a Louis Vuitton handbag actually a $1000 value? Or is there some other intangible driving up the item's price without increasing the utility?

Actually, you’re dead wrong. Somethings value is determined by what someone will pay for it. If none paid 1000 for a handbag the company would go out of business. Colt doesn’t exist solely off of its military contracts people pay this much for the lower otherwise it wouldn’t be for sale. An items worth or value isn’t determined by the seller as much as it is the buyer unless there’s high demand and or scarcity

People on this site act like retailers rule pricing. They don’t. It’s called free market. If people didn’t pay the asking price because of a lack of perceived value it would be lowered

No one is acting like retailers rule pricing (BTW Colt is not the retailer....and on one suggested they were). You can't prove me wrong by simply saying "dead wrong." LOL, you even above mention PERCEIVED value which is not actual value. Do you know people PERCEIVE cars as safer than planes but planes are actually much safer? Your perception (or spending habits) do not alter reality. Pay all you want for your designer handbag or Colt lower...that's free market, but don't shit on others for calling out "it's a blah blah brand, look how it matches my earings" mark up some brand whores are willing to pay. The quality, the material, workmanship, and crap warranty do not justify the price if you were to do a "Pepsi Challenge." Those are the qualities that define ACTUAL value.

Enjoy your PERCEIVED superiority ;)
