Purchased one and it seems like a blem. The Colt logo is only partially stamped. Not too impressed. Was going to use it with a Sig M400 upper, but this isn't worthy. Purchased a Spikes Tactical with the Spikes enhanced lower parts kit and Battle Trigger and it is a superb fit and finish. My PSA and Anderson lowers are a better fit.

Dealer price for this lower assembly is 199.99 just FYI. The "civilian" Colt AR's were made from the same parts as the military contract rifles sans the full auto parts. Chris Bartocci, author of Black Rifle II book(also worked for Colt) is having some doubts recently that some parts don't look Colt made. I know Colt extractors are a LOT tougher than "hobby guns". If you want to argue, don't bother me, contact Chris and tell him he's full of it. Here's his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_tDPoCymsSKJ4uViL3G_zQ... and a link to the Black Rifle book: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Rifle-II-Into-Century/dp/0889353484/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_1/146-2345828-3515051?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=97JYSZSAS10G7ZB2Z121...

After reading the comments on here I am positive that some of you buy the Colt branded foreign produced ammo just for the name and you probably pay twice as much for it.

$50 more for a lower because it says colt? When the government is your biggest customer it should be no surprise your overpriced.

When they roll off the line and don't meet spec, it is considered a blem. Even if its just the fcking roll mark being off.

Yes PSA lowers work just as fine as a colt, No the PSA will not resell for as much down the road. When I think of resell and collectible PSA is not the first thing that comes to mind. As bad as I hate to say it, Colt does come to mind

Why can't they just call these what they are? Looks like they came out the shop as a batch of factory blem lowers which Colt then decided to assemble anyway and just tagged them with a different serial prefix.

Should be "Colt 6920 BLEM lower, Complete."

What do you claim is a blemish on these, the roll mark? Lmao, if you think that's a blem then you haven't seen many Colt rifles.

Yes you can getting similar quality for less. But I'm happy to pay extra for the name. This is still very cheap in my mind. Im not putting a psa lower on a $1000 daniel defense upper. Plus in the long run $100 is nothing to me. Thats 1 less dinner out.

So I'm guessing you're an AR snob guy and unless you're paying $800 to 1000 the upper it's a piece shit lol I can still didn't you in the head for my backyard with my Bear Creek Arsenal or radical firearms or Diamondback I hate people like this I tell you Bravo Company is the best manufacturer out there or Wilson Combat is better than Sig Sauer....... shit I could use a 22 magnum and be more effective for my backyard and you will be with your $1,500 AR

I have to disagree. Intelligent folks don't pay more for "the name" when they know they can get the EXACT (not simlilar) SPEC or quality for less. Doing so just doesn't make sense other than doing so because you can -which we've got too much of going on in this country these days.

Poor money management is nothing to be proud of or brag about. Everyone suffers, just look at our governement.

P.S. You also paid waaay too much for that upper.

Respectfully disagree. Plenty of intelligent folks have plenty of money (meaning credit cards paid off, cars paid off, ahead on a 15yr mortgage, good money in their kids' 529 plan, etc, etc,) and chose to spend it on a name. Poor "money management" for spending $100 more on a name (Colt vs. PSA or similar in this case)? Believe it or not there are people who manage their money well who would think nothing of it. Not knocking one who chooses to save the $100 by going PSA or similar, and getting effectively the same product, but it's insulting to insinuate that someone who pays $100 more for a Colt is not intelligent, when intelligence may very well be the reason they are in a position to not notice/care about an extra $100 in the first place. Look at Gunbroker ... Colts go for wayyyy more than PSA's. Don't get me wrong, I have PSA's, and Colts, Noveske, KAC, etc. PSA (not just their lowers) is a great product for the money. That said, variety is great too if you have the spare cash. So please spare me the shame of spending the extra $100 for a Colt lower. Most people spend more than they have to on several things (TVs, cars/trucks, BOATS, houses, clothes, VACATIONS, etc.). Why? Because we can ... and in America capitalism is great and we should be able to do such without the misers of the world shaming us. The big caveat here is I'm only referring to people who are not going into debt spending excessively and/or blowing off retirement savings (yes, that is bad), but using available fluid cash.

I'd usually counter but you just used the ultra liberal term "shaming" on a gun forum... There is no longer any common ground... and for that reason, I'm out.

Sorry my word hurt you. Please come back snowflake ... I promise not to use hurtful words anymore. Lets pretend I didn't use a hurtful word ... what would your response be??? P.S. I think you are taking the easy way out vice coming up with a reasonable response. Seriously, tell me why you think I am wrong ... if the fact I used the word "shame" is your best response, that's beyond weak.

Interesting discussion in this thread. I think (hope) everyone knows they could spend $100 less and effectively get the same thing. That said, how many of us spend way more than we need to on cars, booze, food, shoes, clothes, appliances, knives, etc when we'd effectively get the same thing for a cheaper brand option? Plenty of folks don't bat an eye when they drop $50,000+ on a vehicle when a $20,000 car/truck will get from point A to B just as effectively. If you are on a budget and can't afford a $50K car/truck, it's stupid. If you have the money and your finances are in order, good on ya. We're only talking $100 here, for a much more iconic name. For me, spending the extra $100 for nothing more than the Colt name is worth it. Not that I sell my guns, but if I did, a Colt would almost certainly be an easier sell. It's also a better pass down item for the kids decades from now IMHO. Heck, as far as lowers go, this is still pretty cheap as folks are plopping down $100's more for KAC, LWRC, etc. lowers that are also basically the same as this and the Andersons, but an even more premium "name". Not even mentioning the $1000's one can easily spend on a custom or "high end" brand AR or 1911, which might not be all that better than $500 counterparts. In this case, if the extra $100 breaks the bank and means one can't afford a decent optic or upper, or one is a penny pincher, then the $120 Anderson is a great option, but I'm content spending a bit more for the name.

I suggest you spend your $$$$ on ammo practicing perhaps a aimpoint ;) also research where all these forgings come from .....

So much confusion , my original point was that lowers are lowers. The brand of a lower doesn’t mean anything. Only part of the lower that matters is the trigger. Some people here started to defend colt but I wasn’t attacking colt.

You could save $100 on a lower and invest that

When buying a weapon you may need to defend your life and your families life with reputation means something. That’s why people buy Colt or Daniel Defense or BCM. Anderson, PSA and the like are toys

Stripped lowers are pretty much the same , it’s the parts that go into the lowers and uppers that matter. If you think a “brand” is going to save you then I feel sorry for you. Abrand stamp

Maybe in the upper..... Not in the lower. Have a 6920 and a psa. Lowers are equally manufactured.

The price is $239.99 out the door. List price is $249.99. With the $20 off coupon code it takes the pre-tax and fee price to $229.99 (with Free Shipping) however there is an additional $10 FFL fee so the final total cost is $239.99. That said, $239.99 for a Colt M4 lower is still a good deal.

As far as all the mentions of budget AR-15 lowers from entry level distributors like Anderson; sure you can buy discount parts and build your own budget AR using cheap parts. It may even perform well for you. You will however be hard pressed to find anyone to trade it to or sell it to unless its a non-standard caliber. Few buyers will want a used 5.56 gun made of the cheapest parts available. That said, there will always someone that will trade or buy top tier manufacturer AR's (Main stream factory gun makers and boutique AR's shops.) So I could not disagree more about the Colt brand not being worth anything.

You could never be more wrong. I struggle to resell my top tier AR’s. As a hobby I buy cheap parts to build budget AR’s (lot of Andersons). I sell them faster at $420. People are more out for budget AR’s now days.

I think you're wrong. even during hurricane Harvey, ABC still applies. Always Buy Colt. Maybe you found some back woods hillbilly to offload your cheap AR, but anyone with brains knows to spend their money on quality and reliability. No one, in their right mind, wants your Frankenstein Walmart AR.

Feel free to continue to pay for overpriced items... I think technology is pretty caught up with ALL weapons manufacturers... DPMS/Bushmaster etc... ALL USE THE SAME WHOLESALE LOWERS. ALL you are doing is paying for the COLT name... just as bad as paying for that overpriced spider on your lower receiver HAHA and please... my own "frankenstein" of a build has tighter tolerances than an out of box Colt..

Sure... Next time colt is looking for a new rifle design. I'll make sure to point them to Duh Panda's super tight tolerance AR-15.

Colt has been skating by on its name for so long, they forgot the word quality at some point in their products. Would you buy a Dodge Ram with reviews being poor or prefer to invest in something with better reviews like a Toyota Tundra? When the time comes that all these "Black Guns" become banned. A Colt might bring in more money by itself. For the price, you could buy 2 or 3 Aero Precision lowers, or who knows how many Anderson ones. Which will sell for more in the long run. When I build an AR styled rifle, I don't buy cheap MIM parts, nor do I skimp in key components. I've seen far too many Colt products lately that look like they were made in a third world garage. Name recognition only goes so far. At which point, a S&W or Ruger AR would do nearly as well in the resale market and have a better customer service.

Is it my fault that a LaRue upper mates up perfectly with an Anderson Lower WITH ZERO slop in the receivers... UNLIKE that cute pony on yours lol
Awww coooool guys.... Colt is making a special edition lower that says 6920 on it instead of LE6920... LMAO

With plentiful Anderson and PSA complete lowers to be had at $150-$160, this is far from a deal. The Colt name really means nothing anymore

1 vote
1 vote

I get what you're saying and you're not wrong, but I think the more accurate way to say it is the Colt name really means nothing to more and more shooters these days.

2 votes
0 votes

Not sure why you would say this, I would rather own a Colt lower than an Anderson or PSA. I think all the forgings will be of equivalent quality but I trust the factory Colt lower parts and machining more than the others.

3 votes
0 votes

I personally wouldnt trust factory Colt parts. They seem to rent their name out to whoever pays. Example: ever shot any of the Colt ammo? Its crap. Give me a PSA stripped lower, Daniel Defense or BCM lower parts kit, Magpul stock. Still comes in under this. That being said, old school Colts are highly prized, but i have no desire to pay a premium for anything from them at this point

I agree on the ammo, I wouldn't buy it either. I also know of an instance where Colt did sell an AR15 they didn't manufacture- the 6900, which was ironically made by Anderson Manufacturing. Many folks were ticked at getting a "fake Colt".

Colt has recently had some very competitive pricing on "real Colts", like the LE6920-R Trooper which was going for less than $700.

I believe there is a lot of good stuff out there today but I still believe Colt makes a very good firearm and is one of the few I would trust my life with. To each his own though, competition is good for all (of us)!

This is a great deal ! If you get 2-3 lowers , however the way the market is lowers are averaging $100-120 each for complete lowers and as low as $80 for Anderson,Omni etc brands

If you’re asking this question you shouldn’t be trying to buy it

Why not? Just because they didn't know the Lower Receiver is the "registered component" doesn't mean they shouldn't buy it. AR15's and the split upper/lower is quite a bit different than many guns, it's not as obvious.
