These rifles were manufactured during the 1994-2004 Assault Weapons Ban and therefore restricted to MIL/GOV/LE sales only. Since the Assault Weapons Ban ended in 2004, these rifles are no longer restricted and have become collectible.

I don't get it... why would this be a 'collectable' item for anyone who cared/cares about the 2nd Amendment?

In 08 I would have paid for it. I am not crazy about the carbine gas system. I think a mid would make it look properly proportioned.

Nostalgia for the fixed carry handle. I bough a Colt with detachable as it was the closest I could find. Hated having to lug it everywhere while in the Marines, probably not logical but I miss it.

You can buy detachable carry handles and put them on literally any ar with a rail

One of the main draws of these is the Restricted Gov/Law enforcement use only on the right side of the receiver and the barrel markings. I'd rather keep my newer 2013 versions.
