THIS IS THE FAMOUS TEXAS RANGER DRAGOON! This Rare Revolver Fully Engraved and Plated in Pure Silver Commemorates the Life of One of Texas's Most Celebrated Rangers that But For a Trick of Fate Was Saved From The Famous Fall of the Alamo, Where so Many Historic Americans met Their Fatal End.

In 1848, Sam Colt Presented a Beautifully Embellished Colt Whitneyville-Hartford Dragoon Serial Number 1337, to Major Ben McCulloch, a Texas Ranger whose frontier exploits during the mid-years of the 19th century have passed into legend. Ben Became one of the most famous Texas Ranger of all time and was the Basis of the Popular Movie Series "Lonesome Dove"!

In May 1861, Ben offered his services to Jefferson Davis, of the Confederacy, and was commissioned a brigadier-general, and ordered to Fort Smith, Arkansas. During the Battle of Pea Ridge, March 7, 1862, McCulloch commanded the Confederate right wing that overran and drove the Union forces from their position. Later, riding through the undergrowth to ascertain the new Union position, he was shot and killed.
