Do companies pay income tax on shipping fees? I have a feeling that's the reason why many businesses charge high fees on shipping

They jacked the price $40

It's $339, plus shipping and handling (probably $30 knowing J&G)

BUYER BEWARE!
As a member of the gun buying public I think we are made up of some of the most honest and up front people in this country. I am sad to say that not all the online retailers we deal with share that virtue. The practice of advertising a low price on a gun to get your attention and then inflating the S/H cost at checkout borders on dishonest and is deceptive at best. I request you join me and minimize the business we do with companies engaging in this practice.

the tan is listed for $339. Only the black is listed @ $299. And I don't see a link for the MIR.

I see a lot of complaining about shipping costs, and I don't see the issue. For me, shipping is $10. Even if it was $20, it's a good deal. Better than most actually. You're still getting it for under $300 all in. I own one, and paid a little more for it than this with FFL transfer. It's a great gun. I'm so impressed with it that I'm actually buying a second one. Those who say they're holding out for the TP9SF are not holding out for anything really. The decocker takes a lot of force to activate. It's not something you can accidentally do unless you beat the gun against something.

Decocker solution

https://youtu.be/I_ikQa4YS6k...

Takes 5 minutes, and it completely reversible.

Nice find, I like quick simple reversible mods. Other pistols have decockers, versions of HK these I know have it, HK45T, P30, P2000, USP, you don't read everyone avoiding them. Takes something like 7 pounds of effort to engage it.

There use to be GM parts place online GMPARTSDIRECT, they gamed the system, lowest price to show up when searching then stick it to you for shipping to make a profit.

Shipping is more on a firearm vice most things, signature is required extra cost for the shipper, sure they put insurance on it, cover's their interest vice the buyer, they are passing the cost to the buyer. You save sales tax buying online, you pay the FFL you might not at your LGS.

Not like we're forced to buy from J&G or any of the other retailers, there is the Deal Info box on here, see the price listed. Some offer a cash discount or add the 3% credit card fee to the buyer, they disclose it.

Bud's deals keep being posted by an insider on here, "make an offer" Why not just post the price vice making a buyer wait to see if their "offer" is accepted or not. Too much like buying a car, rather see price, decide if it's the right price for me or not.

We just have to decide, overall cost worth what they are selling to us.

Just to let you guys know, Canik has a new version coming soon to the US. They removed the decocker. It's called the TP9SF. I'm waiting.

Yeah I have bought from J&G before and while I never had an issue I still fell like I was screwed when I went to check out. I agree I would rather be charged more for the gun and get 10.00 shipping than get to the check out and discover my deal really was not a deal. It sucks but J&G is not interested in listening to this argument. To be honest when you factor in the shipping cost you really could buy this cheaper other places. So that makes this not a deal.

I'd be interested in this gun if J&G didn't require your first born son as a down payment on their shipping.

Seriously. I'd rather they price this pistol at $320, and tell me that shipping is $10, because I simply can't get behind any volume retailer that charges damn near $30 to ship a tiny pistol.

J&G - if you're reading this, lower your fucking shipping prices you idiots.

You can keep beating them up over the shipping as many of us have and specifically on this pistol. They won't do shit about it. I'm in the same boat, it's the principal that they are screwing the consumer.

For all the people bitching about turkey not helping with the fight againest Isis. Its been confirmed that turkey has conducted bombing missions against Isis. Buy the gun.

Yes. View my post below that I posted the day before your comment here cheering what appeared to be a major policy change by the Turks. I was reconsidering. But I got up this morning and read that not only is Turkey targeting ISIS, but unfortunately took opportunity to bomb the KURDS. Not sure I am willing to give them any kudos for that.

I own this gun and several cz and cz clones some from canik 55. This is a very good gun. Although I have to be honest the CZ clones are my favorites. The price alone makes this gun worth a try. Also makes a good truck. If you loose it to a thief or the police it will not be like you lost a $700 sig. Of course you could say that of almost any Canik / Tri-star (same company). Last reason would be the price. If you decide you don't like it it is easy to sell and get your money back. All the accessories make it very attractive to a lot of people. Like I said I own it and still like it a lot. It is worth the $300.00.

This is an interesting pistol. However, could someone give me a reason to not just stick with the tried CZ clones that have been so excellent?

0 votes

I can't give you a reason to not go with the CZ clones, as I like those quite a bit and at 300-350 price point along with a few 15-30 dollar modifications you end up with one hell of a gun. On that Not I do own this gun and for 300 you can not go wrong. No need for replacing springs or any of that to improve trigger and with a 18+1 capacity you'll love it. You may want to look at the TP9V2 also if the decocker on this rendering the gun dead is a big deal for you, the TP9V2 eliminates that with a true DA/SA trigger.

Maybe Canik can bring home the upset and win me over. Love it for its looks and general reviews to date. Get rid of the decocker please and keep the price where it is and I'll buy it in a heartbeat...once Turkey joins the coalition against ISIS.

Hey, I may be in the market to buy a Turkish gun now that their government, thanks to recent elections, appears to be joining the fight with us against ISIS. Bravo. And good for me since the only reason I haven't bought one of these Canik was the principal of their not supporting the fight against extremists in the middle east. Now I can buy a new gun!

So far I have 750 rounds through my FDE TP9SA. I have not had any failures at all with several types of ammo. The decocker has not been a problem the first time. You would really have to go out of your way to activate it. I like this gun so well I plan on buying a second one sometime in the future in black. This is a great gun for the money. Do not let the decocker stop you from trying it.

This is an excellent firearm. The features, accessories, and function is better than you can get from most American made weapons at 2x the price. I thought we were supposed to be here sharing our opinions regarding this fire arm not our self righteous political, religious, and social opinions. Most of which are exposing our ignorance and prejudice. What the hell does the president have to do with how we feel about the quality of this gun? What the hell do we care if a Muslim helped to produce it? Your so concerned about people's religious preference that it blinds you to the fact that the worst acts of terror in world history were carried out by Christians, not Muslims. The worst domestic terrorists in the histoy of this country were in fact good ole home grown Southern Baptists. AMEN!

Can we just talk guns please?

Strike fire pistol with manual safety. No thanks.

This one has a decocker that could be bumped, leaving you with a dead gun. At least Ruger's safety I can ignore or remove altogether (I've disassembled my SR9s for trigger changes).

I answered my own dilemma. I'm going to go with a gun at $292 and only $6 bucks shipping as opposed to $317 plus $20 shipping for this Turkish made gun. I admit I'll have to buy another mag and holster, which the price difference allows for, but more importantly I'm buying American high quality, and without support for Turkey and more importantly without the goofy decocker issue on the Canik. Yea, go Ruger (America!) Duh! I already own this gun as a compact (SR9C) and I love it. Time to buy the full size discounted version. See this link:

Reviews have been generally positive except for one issue, the decocker disabling the gun totally. I was really liking this TP9SA. Very cool gun and looks solid with nice ergos and great trigger. Some reviews are great, but then I watched one review that really sunk in about the critical flaw of this gun compared to it's forefather TP9. Before you jump to any conclusions please review all of this comment, since I am still not convinced to pass on this weapon. Lots of value even if it is only a range gun, but more if it can be used confidently in self defense.

I have to admit there appears to be a fatal flaw for a self defense gun to have this decocker that is exposed on two sides of the gun that effectively disables the gun. Add to that, this is a single action only gun without a manual safety which some will find dicey. I agree with the following reviewer that the decocker still exists probably because the manufacturer wasn't willing to go another step in the redevelopment of the gun because of costs. So anyway, it sounds like a great affordable range gun at this time, but not necessarily the best defensive gun to rely on unless you are one that never accidentally changes the channel with the controller, or fat fingers any typing, or bumps into things by accident. You see, if you hit the decocker on this gun at any time then you have totally disabled it and you then have a small club instead of a pistol. See this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2TJh--Oztk...

Having said that, I got a response that the decocker can be disabled and this gun can be a top notch defensive handgun if you like tinkering with the design. Check out this link: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_5_36/157293_Disable_TP9SA_Decocker.html...

Would love to hear opinions. I like the looks and function of this gun except for the decocker.

I wouldn't buy the declocker version. Spend a little more and get a better handgun like Sig 2020 ($50 more). There is declockerless version called the TP9SF. Really nice pistol without the flaws in the TP9SA. Not sure if they are going to import it. If you can wait wait for the TP9SF. TP9SA is a gimp pistol IMO.

Here is a video on it but its Turkish.

I know, this gun is made by the Turks, who despite being our "NATO ally" appear to be more interested in quashing the poor Kurds in Syria and Iraq than helping us (as our President so famously says) "degrade and eventually destroy" the ISIS fanatics. Not to digress, but why doesn't he just say "Destroy" ISIS and forget about the degrading part? If we destroy them, won't they be degraded? Anyway, sorry for the sidetrack commentary, but I do have a serious problem with Turkey on this issue and I concede everyone's argument about boycotting goods made in Turkey until they join us civilized nations in beating back such heinous evil as ISIS is something to be considered when buying a Turkish gun. I guess the rape and murder of innocents is just a little over the top for me when it comes to fanatical Islamic extremists. That Turkey doesn't oppose this when it is next door to their country presents some questions for me. Opinions there?

A Little Speculation...

The gun is NATO certified.
The barrel is rated for 60,000 rounds.
The company is ISO certified.
The company wants to build a factory in the U.S.
The U.S. military will be conducting trials to replace the M9.
The gun very closely resembles the Walther PP9.
The Walther PP9 costs $200 more.
Colt is in bed with Walther.

So why doesn't Colt tweak the P99, make it in the U.S., set a street price under $350 and send all of the competition scrambling?

Want to bet some form of the TP9 gets into the military trials?
How will opinions change if it wins?

Genius. As Colt can rarely make guns anyone wants, licencing has been their bread and butter.

Great gun in it's original form and I wouldn't mind having some permutation of it as a range gun to test when all things are settled in it's final trial format.

Remington has imported Russian made guns (SPR210 & SPR 453). Too, besides pistols and walnut, Turkey has manufactured guns for Smith & Wesson, Weatherby, Benelli, Charles Daly, Kimber, and some others. For many the decision to purchase a firearm is based upon price rather than the luxury of politics. I know of men carrying well-used Mosins, Mossbergs, and Hi-Points to protect and feed their families in a time of $5/lb hamburger.

Banker, does any of this seem like deja vu? ;)

Yes, but read all of my other points of argument. The SR 9E is a better gun than the TP9SA for the money regardless of the Turks who are f...ing the Kurds. I bought the Ruger SR 9E tonight because it is the better gun. Way better. F..k the Turks until they step up to the plate as real allies. I like the Ruger.

Congratulations!

I am glad you like your Ruger. My favorite sidearm is my Super Blackhawk with custom Altamont grips. Yep, I prefer single action. A Ruger will be around long after we aren't. I consider a Ruger to be like a Lamborghini, they also made tractors. You know that means no more foreign ammo. lol

For pure self-defense, it will always be my S&W Model 27.

Sorry for my delay in responding. I disappeared for a little vacation. Got back and picked up my Ruger 9E. Love it. I already have the SR9C, so I am very familiar with this gun and although the finish on the gun is a bit less and there are no extra mag or hard case with mag loader, not bad for $292. I'm not a prepper, but this would be a good "stash gun" with extreme quality for the price. My first pistol was a Ruger, which was "single six my dad and I bought for $80. My second pistol was a Ruger mark 1 auto which I bought for $95. Ok, that dates me to the 1970's unfortunately, but I'm probably back home with Ruger on pistols right now, but open minded. Maybe Canik can bring home the upset. Love it for its looks and general reviews to date. Get rid of the decocker please and keep the price where it is and I'll buy it in a heartbeat...once Turkey joins the coalition against ISIS.

J&G has all-black for same price.

http://www.jgsales.com/canik-55-tp-9sa-9mm-semi-auto-pistol,-single-action,-black,-by-cai,-new.-p-80090.html

I used to own one. It is supposed to be a clone of the Walther P99, but it comes up short in a number of areas. Like the other P99 clone, the Magnum Research MR9, they chose to copy the 3rd generation of the P99. Had they gone with the 2nd Gen, they would have avoided the biggest issue with the other two clones: the shallow and narrow strip of serrations on the lower rear of the slide coupled with its heavy recoil spring made racking it a PITA.

If your fingers were moist, the word, "slide," will stand for what your fingers will be doing when you try to get a good grip on the serrations.

Where they did not copy the P99 - and should have - is where on the slide they started the indentation in the shape. In the P99, the indentation begins in front of the trigger guard and runs the length of th slide; wheeas, in the Canik and MR9, the indentation begins behind the trigger guard. Sort of like trying to find space on a CZ-75 to do an overhand rack.

A lighter weight recoil spring would do this gun wonders.

As for its alleged ISO9000 standards, too bad it was not certified ISO9002 because I found a number of quality control issues on the frame - like sharp edges on the grip around the mag chamber, under the trigger, and along the edge of the trigger. I happened to be one of those who liked the ambidexterous slidereleases built into the trigger guard as levers. The mag buttons on the Canik are too far away from the trigger and rtequire you to reposition your shooting grip to get at them.

One of the 2 mags that came with the Canik kept getting stuck on the last round inserted into it. A little sanding with my Dremel tool along the inside of the feed lips took care of the problem. The sights were a little off to the right and down. An enclosed hex wrench helped to adjust the rear sight back on target. The gun was fairly accurate. I was getting 2" groups at 10 yards using Winchester 124gr. NATO. Recoil was about average for a full-size, lightweight polymer pistol.

The trigger was the best part. Absolutely fantastic. Breaks crisp and cleanly at the same point each time. The split trigger design is similar to a Ruger in layout, but far more sensitive, like the one on a Beretta PX4 Storm. Only shot a box of 50 of the 124gr NATO followed by a box of 50 Federal Champion 115gr. No firing or cycling issues. It has the same take down system as the P99 which is one of the easiest around and can be dpone without the need to decock the trigger (although it is a good idea to do so to make sure you won't havean AD).

I love the concept of the deocker on the P99. This has two of them, both mounted on top within an inch of onr another. I think that they could have gotten away with just having one as the off-hand side can be worked with a finger as easily as a firing side using a thumb.

Egonomics make itg a natual poinbter - although it's on the flat side for a double-stacked mag. It comes with two extra sized back-straps - although they do more to lengthen the distance from grip to trigger than to fill up your palm swell. A Houge tamer or Pachymar grip is highly recommended as the grip - being on the thin side - does tend to rotate in one's hand if given to sweaty palms.

Considering that a genuine Walther P99 sells for $500 and only comes with a year's warranty, the Canik 55 TP9SA (which is similar to the P99QA or "Quck Action") gives you a lifetime warranty for a clone $200 cheaper.

However, I, too, don't like the idea of funding an Islamic State that openly backs ISIS. Turkey used to be a secular democracy. Not anymore, and it does not look like it will grow any closer to the West in terms of ideology.

In light of that, I'd recommend the Magnum Research MR9 over the TP9SA if it did not cost do much more than it does because - coast aside - it is the better of the two clones. It uses the same frames as Walther does for its P99.

Two months ago, you could have gotten an MR9 for $416.

But, for everything you get with the TP9SA - the 2 mags, the holsters, the cleaning tools, the extra back straps, the warranty - it's a definite deal if you can master the racking issues I mentioned..

Neither Turks Nor Turkey are on the wrong site mate, Most turks hate the president and his corruptions, 89 percent of turks want to maintain democracy and secular state there are however those who support president becuase they all got some piece out of his corrupted deals. Hopefully this years election all his authority will be buried to the ground You can't blame the whole nation and it's people because one guy is (trying) ruling the country

This is a significantly different gun than the TP9. You can still get the TP9's for only $230-270.
