haha, yah after Rob Ski and MAC got done with them the entire AK community knew the tRASh47 and C39v2's were garabage

Yes, I admit us "old" people who were alive in the 90s can never catch up to someone who has to be under 17 in terms of wits and internet knowledge. Tell the Hawaiian god Uli I seek his forgiveness and blessings.

Ras47: good fit and finish to make the buyer think it is a great quality rifle. Truth: metal is soft and carrier is cast meaning it will (not just maybe) break if you shoot it enough.

Imported AKs: not the best fit and finish but will last 10x longer than this junk

Good info thanks. I'm confused now. Annoying having an extra $1200 the wife doesn't know about as I can't made up my mind;). Good problem to have though...

Is the n pap the same as m92 but rifle version?

Both are made at the same factory in Serbia (former Yugoslavia) and share some features. Price wise you might be better off buying a M92 and a "brace." It would come out cheaper than a RAS47 and be better quality. Be aware though because of the short barrel the M92 is loud as crap (from the shooter's perspective) and creates quite the fireball!

I also looked at an Arsenal sam7r last weekend which I really liked but it didn't feel quite right for some reason. Also a little more then I was hoping to spend..

I was actually looking at the n pap. I am very late as absolutely love AR's so never really paid much attention to AK's until my last two AR's in 7.62x39. They are my new fav's. Freaking love the caliber. I ha my had any of the problems you read about online. With that said I gotta get an AK asap. I see what you say about hard to find he oldie but goodies as I really want something special since it's my first. I called custom copper armament as they love AK's and seem to know what they are doing. They have some interesting options (check out their site). Just feel like they are a bit over priced but beggars shouldn't be choosers. I see both wasr's and m papa seem to be fairly attainable so I might start with one of those until I learn more about them. Can't believe I've been missing out all this time on such a great round;). I am sure you guys hate those but the RRA Lar chambered in 7.62x39 caught my eye. They have some great features and are on sale at Kentucky but I need to hold firm on an AK and not get distracted;)

Which versions?

-I have had success with these CIA guns:
-A M92 pap which as a 'pistol' was brought into the US whole and was quite nicely put together. No crappy American barrels or receivers. Sold it due to the only range within driving distance that allowed more than pistols stopped allowing "stockless rifles"...as they put it. They later closed that rifle range completely due to the fact there was a subdivision behind them that didn't like getting hit with bullets. Go figure.
-A M70AB2 underfolder which has never jammed and spends most of it's life in my car.
-Just bought a N-Pap and it is quite sweet too.
-A C308 which is a freaking BEAST.

I know none of these are Arsenals but are a good bet for the money and for what it is worth I think you get more of a 'battle rifle' for your money with an AK than an AR. Hard to break, easy to clean, work 99.9999 percent of the time, like any ammo, and are just easy to shot.

The problem is you are coming to the party kinda late. I would suggest a rifle built in a former communist armory if you want an AK. The recent WASR rifles are superb, but Cugir is too busy making rifles for armies. Word on the forums is that next year to start importing more.

Seems like this is a terrible option for an AK per the feedback below. I'm an AR guy but really want a solid first AK. Any recommendations??? And where I can find whatever is recommended as all I find are these CIA and IO options...

I personally have had decent luck with CIA stuff. Wouldn't buy a RAS though.

Yeah! Now I can risk death and dismemberment for even cheaper than before! Keep dropping the price, Bud ... junk shouldn't cost a fortune.

I wouldn't buy any Century, or IO .... even for $300.
I've never liked the idea of a rifle exploding in my hands.

Other than a class action against Century for the ability to move the safety lever so far above the gun it turns into a over the dust cover vertical grip and might be able to fire in that ridiculous condition I am not aware of any exploding AK's made by them other than 4th hand reports of RAS models. RAS47'S are indeed crap (in my opinion) based on just handing in a gun store...feels like Airsoft.

He is talking about Uli and I.O.

What is a Uli? Tried googling without much luck.

I gave you everything you need. Put "uli" and "I.O." in your search engine and tons of info such as this:

http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=c5332edc4876a2d3cfa6a302c70e0c3c&t=273436...
or an archived from high road:
http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-571874.html...

Or try to get the information from the context. Try "uli" and "a rifle exploding in my hands" to give you an example from the start of this sub-thread (EarthIsFlat).

Sorry, when I tried Googling that stuff my results came to and in this order:
-the hawaiian god 'io - JStor
-The Hawaiian Supreme God - Let Us Reason
-slither.io ULI DEPIETRI - YouTube
-Tutorial de slither .io -Uli Games ! con mi hermano - YouTube

'My' search engine must be broken....but I did manage to pickup from the context that you are still a flaming douche bag ;)

Just trying to achieve accuracy in firearms discussions.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings, I guess.

But at least now you know more than you did before, so .... you're welcome!

Teaching people how to use search engines is rather off topic, especially when your advice leads to Hawaiian deities and not firearm related topics. Where was the "accuracy" you were trying to achieve?

BTW, you did not hurt my feeling even if that was your original intent. Much like your Internet 101 class that too failed miserably.

Not off topic when you need it to learn something, like obviously you do.

I don't really care about your feelings, just don't want you doing what you normally do, spreading misinformation.

As little about firearms as you know, I bet you were recommending I.O. AKs. Thanks to me, you can stop now. Your welcome, again.

Funny thing I was actually trying to have an adult conversation (and I am the one you accuse of being a troll!) and you had to pull out douche bag kit and go all Courtney Love on the situation then you are pretending to be the teacher? You are a hopeless twat who cannot even explain how to use a search engine. But thank you....for what, I have no idea for what however I am under the impression that you need me to say that too you to feel slightly less inferior.

Do you need any money towards getting your tubes tied? I am happy to offer a donation ;)

Are you out of touch with reality?

Everyone can follow the thread from above.

You stated "I am not aware of any exploding AK's made by them " so I made you aware. No trolling there.

Then you asked me a question, and I replied. No trolling there.

Then, after admitting you cannot use google (partial retard?) you get more butthurt for helping you.

Then you rant about "off topic" as if that matters on the internet, then get so butthurt you claim I failed internet 101.

Super big troll by you there.

Now the one right above this, mega butthurt with an obscure 90's reference to Courtney Love (are you that old?) proving you are trolling me as usual.

It is hard for you to lie about what happened because people can actual read our posts.

You are priceless.... "butthurt"..."retard"..."mega butthurt"...You got me. Sorry I tangled with such an obviously savant.

It doesn't take a savant to read the above posts where you were clearly trolling, however, you have learned something new today!

You are right, that Uli name was super obvious and your instructions to google it led me countless pages of links to Hawaiian Gods. Stupid me. You win.

Many upvotes..........but not enough quality for me to spend over $500.
At this price, there should be several better models.
(AND THERE AREN'T DUE TO INSANELY STUPID DEMAND)

My beef with gun dealers is a keep using fear to jack the price up . for example if you check this AK on deguns.com site on the bottom of the page "On 16 July 2014 U.S. President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order banning the importation of Russian-made firearms,,blah blah blah"

They want you to think Obama is getting a cut of the price hike :-)

I agree with that, and I had some beef with prepper's doing that in another thread, but I think it is more supply and demand with the new found popularity of the AK driving the demand.

Retailers tested the waters with increased prices and the market corrected them slightly back down. $499 WASRs were suddenly $649 and demand wasn't there. Now they hover right around the middle at $575 or so.

Look at the AR market. All the scare tactics in the world could not raise prices. Corrected for the time-value of the dollar and they are at historic lows.

The scale tips to supply in the AR market (hence low prices), but the law of supply and demand still applies.

Lol i don't drink coke. I am a seller so I am always going to have to get the better deal on all products since I will go direct to the manufacturer.

That's the part you took away from all this?!?

Ok then, let's focus on why you hate capitalism.

Been a socialist your whole life?

These rifles are massed produced. It's easy for them to come out with a few hiccups!

0 votes

These should cost 350.00 to 400.00 max all day long but our country has to many money hungry pieces of shit living in it. They are not happy receiving the normal 200% Mark up.

0 votes
0 votes

Capitalism requires that the owner of his/her property gets the most amount of money for it.

The markup has nothing to do with it. I guarantee you have several injected molded plastic items in your home right now that enjoy a 1,000% markup. For example, this item cost $8:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rubbermaid-Roughneck-10-Gal-Storage-Tote-FG2214TPMICBL/202260839...

But costs less than 70 cents to make.

Even buying a fountain coke only cost the retailer 8 cents per 12 serving of boxed syrup AND locally sourced CO2. Yet a typical fast food restaurant charges over a dollar resulting in a 1,250% markup.

The problem with your logic is this, you will pay 1250% markup for a coke that you'll piss out in an hour, but won't pay 200% for a rifle you will love forever?!?
