Saw these many years ago for under $90. I'm old.

If these are anything like the "early Chinese" ones that RTI had a few months ago, they are garbage rust buckets. I have no problem paying a premium for a well-cared for/stored rifle, but I wouldn't have paid $100 for the condition mine was in. "No returns" doesn't sit well for me...

Why does everyone continue to expect SKS's to magically show up again for $100?

Gas will never be a dollar a gallon again. Do you sit around bitching about the price of gas compared to 30 years ago?

As "supply" dwindles, "demand" goes up. $260 for an SKS is at the low end of the market right now, and only expect it to go up from here.

As "supply" dwindles, "demand" goes up.

As supply decreases the supply curve shifts to the left reaching a new equilibrium price, which is higher than before. This has no effect on raising demand other than lowering it due to price sensitivity.

I passed on the last batch of good surplus Yugos a few years back and regretted it ever since. I wasn't about to pay the crazy money they are asking now for these. Yesterday I walked into a local gun store, and on the rack was a beautiful unissued, numbers matching Yugo 59/66 in the cosmoline for $450 with 1000 rounds of Russian Wolf ammo, and 2 new 30 round steel mags, as well as the stock 10 rounder. The ammo is worth $225, the mags at least $15 each. So then just the gun was $195. I now have my SKS. The deals are out there if you are not in a hurry, and run out and buy the first gun you see.

Not a good deal, their a grade sks go on sale every 2-3 months for $260. Pawn shop in town sells yugo sks for $300 anyway

Almost $300 with shipping. Should be $199 w/ free ship. Funny that I emailed them several times and they always denied having this exact product!

Correct it does not in fact trust me when I say do not risk it. I have sent back a couple of firearms I had serious issues with.

I have two of these from RTI very poor condtion but good shooters for $219.00. Now it would be nice to have one in better condition But it looks like paying more money here does not guarantee you will get one in any better condition than mine. Is that a correct assuntion?

Hawg, I have not yet found a meaningful correlation between higher price and better condition when there is no guarantee of condition.

What works well for me is to purchase a firearm whose condition is specified in the ad, and then do so only if the retailer is reputable enough to stand behind his rating of the firearm. Problems (concerning my satisfaction as a customer) tend to arise only when I vary from this approach.

BTW, I do not consider either RTI or Classic to be reputable retailers that will stand behind their products.

Don't listen to this crackhead... One round shy in many ways; just follow some of his comments across his many posts.

Hiprollc is just sore because I exposed him as a shill for Century Arms. Just follow some of his comments across his many posts and it will become obvious that he is a shill poster trying to make it appear that the drunken monkeys at Century can engineer something other than chaos.

Ha, ha, ha, ha... Yep, that's me. Just read my positive comments on the few threads on which I have commented versus this jack off's negative BS on all threads. Ha, ha, ha, ha.

That is exactly why I went with RTI's low price. All these Chinese SKSs seem to have one common denominator. They were rode hard and put up wet.

The first rifle I got from RTI was missing the push rod and spring but they sent them to me as soon as I called so my experience with them has been postive.

Learn how to inspect a weapon at your FFL, I received one with a stock that was completly broken, there was more sand than cosmoline. The metal was really rusted and had deep pitting, several metal parts would have to be replaced just to be safe to shoot. I would have been more than happy with the ones I seen in the video reviews. Refused at FFL and Classic was friendly and fast at returning my money. I've purchased more than once from Classic and this is the only one I've refused.

Ordered one of these. Took a few weeks to receive it, unusually slow shipping from classic. Not a big deal I'm a patient person and I'm sure they were swamped with orders. I gotta say though of all the SKS's and C&R guns I have bought over the years this one has to be one of the worst I've seen. This one had more cosmoline than my last 10 mosin's combined! despite that, after breaking down the rifle wiping away most of the cosmo so I could even see any markings this one has a lot of rust and pitting. the metal I'd say is 50% and that's a generous assessment. The stock is beat like few others I've seen and has more names and initials carved into it than the picnic benches we had back in Highschool. I've seen nicer stocks on type 53's and those are complete junk lol The rifling doesn't look to be real strong either. I have no doubt once I finally get it all cleaned it up it will shoot. Shoot well ?? we'll see. That being said, I'm not knocking Classic in any way I have bought many guns from them and will continue to do so. We all know it's a crap shoot with some of these surplus guns and I have no doubt some folks received ones as good as they claim on here I just think people should know they might get one not so glamorous and be prepared for a pretty rough condition firearm. I hope mine was the exception but if it's not I'd say pass on this batch unless your really into working on super dirty beat up guns. there are much better condition SKS's out there for a few bucks more. I admire your moderation. I would have been upset when they say it is NRA Fair to Good condition. By way of comparison, about a year ago I bought two "U-FIX-Em" SKSs from Century for $179 and $159, respectively. I expected them to be missing main components like bolts etc. which is what Century warned me to expect. Instead, I got two SKS with all matching serial number parts,95% bluing, perfect bores and absolutely no rust. The more expensive one had a very small piece cut out of the stock in preparation for a repair that was not made. Very easy repair which took me less than an hour to complete. The cheaper one had a terrible stock with lots of tin can patch repairs, so I just bought a replacement stock for $30 and it was perfect. Given that, I don't think I would be very happy paying $270 for an SKS in the condition you mention.

These are a great deal. I have 5 ,sorry yes I have a problem and need to seek professional help. Count on the stock to be beat to hell but the metal I have received has always been free of rust. These are packed in cosmiline so be prepared to spend a good couple hours cleaning it off. If you take the time to refinish the stock and clean it up you easily have a $450 rifle way better than what the hack dealers at the gun shows try to sell people for that price. Finally, Classic has been great I did order one that I knew was coming with a cracked stock but was suppose to be shoot able but it was not. Called and they apologized and refunded me $45 the cost to go buy a replacement. You rarely get customer service like that these days.

Paid the extra $20 for a serial match and ended up with a fully number matching Sino-Soviet SKS in the first 150k units produced (based on serial number). The original stock was beat to hell, so I put a replacement Chinese wood stock I had on it, overall bluing was at about 60%. It shoots great....yeah, they're extending the sale so go ahead and laugh....but, if you don't have have one of these in your collection this isn't a bad deal.

(edited to pacify the scrub who got his panties in a wad because I quoted the serial num match as a $10 add-on instead of the actual $20.)

$269 pricing extended! For the third time LOL.

Classic firearms:
Until 5/14! Dont miss out.

Oh wait, we will extend it until 5/19! But you wont get them this cheap ever again!

Just kidding.. $269.99 price extended until... well we havent decided yet.

How did you pay $10? The serial matching is $20. Im questioning the legitimacy of your post.

I joked with my friend about this, he said "Damn I might want this before the sale ends.." I said "Don't worry, it'll never end." 3 extensions later we still laugh about it.

I bought one of these from Classic a while back. The stock was very well used, but I kinda like it. The rest of the gun was in great shape and it performs like a champ. Sure, I would like it to be cheaper, but with the current market, I would be happy to pay this for a rifle of equal quality to the one I received.

I'm surprised this is getting down votes. The market rate for a Chinese SKS in 2014 is between $300 and $400.

"But I want a Russian SKS!" - if you didn't buy one ten years ago, they ain't coming, brother.

Amen to that! It is still a great bargain and the Chinese version with chrome lined bore is a real advantage for cleaning. Accuracy is superb. I own 3 Chinese SKS versions and all have great triggers and are very accurate.
