Gee. A Beretta tooling Taurus pt92 for $400. A Chiappa knock off for $430, or the real thing for $500. I know which one comes in last.

Heck, you can get a "very good" used Beretta for $279 many days on here, I have Chiappa and it is a good gun but not worth almost the same money as the gun as it is mimicking though.

If Chiappa thinks they will compete with Taurus, they must have been smoking that good shit. Personally, I'd take a Taurus over a Beretta, so Chiappa doesn't stand a chance with an M9 copy at this price point. They sell the PT92 at a local shop for $379, brand new, and I'll take the frame mounted safety/decocker every day over the slide mounted variety. That's besides the fact that there are too many other Turkish, Czech, Russian, and other import pistols for far less, that have MUCH better quality than Chiappa is known for. I think Chiappa's on crack at this price. It had better be a damn good copy to cost more than a Taurus.

I haven't seen a PT92 anywhere near low $400 since last year. Not sure how good the Chiappa M9 is, but it looks like a carbon copy of the Beretta. They are fairly new to handguns here in US and neither have a good solid reputation like Glock, nor a so-so reputation like Taurus (lets be honest, the PT92 is good but Taurus is known to have issues).

This Chiappa doesn't have a single review on the net. I am interested how good it is.

Chia prts are the worst junk on the market with no quality control or customer service. It's like throwing your money away which is probably what you'll feel like doing if you buy this which probably won't even be a decent single shot. Other than that I think they're great! :(

I think you are right about actual Chia., products but this M9 clone is Turkish made so it may be okay. Handled one at the gun show and it seemed to be of good quality as far as what you can tell by just handling it.

Are you saying that you haven't seen a PT92 below $399 recently?

You must not have or inspected a beretta 92fs. It is not a carbon copy in the least. First, the cocking serrations on the slide are wide like the Taurus pt92 (which is a great value and firearm by any standard). Secondly, there are no finger grooves on the grip of a Beretta M9 or 92fs. Also, the trigger guard is a different shape. Finally, the barrel on a Beretta is 4.9 inches and sticks out more than this Chiappa clone. I'll bet the barrel isn't chrome lined like a Beretta either. If you want a clone look alike, it can pass. But it won't fool anyone who is familiar with the real thing. On that note, the taurus pt 92 is one of their best firearms and I would much rather have that instead.

I had a small trigger reset issue with a PT25 once, but Taurus sent me a shipping label, and I had it back in just over 4 weeks. That's one thing about Taurus that makes them worth so much more. My dad had a PT92 for over 20 years, and never had an issue with it. It's a sweet piece. I honestly saw a brand new one about two weeks ago at my local dealer (in blue) for $379, NIB. People talk shit about Tauruses, but those that have issues can sell em for a loss, and the new owner can sent it to Taurus, and they will fix whatever it is, free of charge. Taurus will ALWAYS repair their guns that way, no matter how many previous owners. That makes it a value in itself. I like the Taurus design better anyways.
