This handgun is unsafe! Please read all the people sharing the safety issues they experienced first hand with this handgun. Do not buy handguns that are poorly made and sold without any type of Quality Control!!!

Any round is lethal. A 22lr is lethal. Yes it has more power and punch but shot placement is a much larger factor in lethality

A fall can be also lethal.

I prefer the new manufacture model in 7.62x25.Great gun and that round is lethal especially hollow points. M57 I believe it is.

Bought one a few weeks ago when they were $179 shipped at Kygunco. Cleaned all of the cosmoline-like packing oil off the gun and was very happy with the fit and finish. Unfortunately, I was unable to fire even one shot as it had a pretty severe case of hammer follow. When the slide was allowed to fall fully forward under the spring tension, the hammer would move forward and contact the firing pin. Pretty unsafe. I contacted Century Arms and they immediately sent a shipping label and RMA details. I haven't heard back yet, but they claim their turnaround on repair is 6 weeks. Probably would have been easier and cheaper to just send me a new drop-in hammer assembly, but they claim to not carry parts for the Zastava pistols that they import. Hopefully all will be well when it is returned as I really like the size and heft of this little pistol.

Warning to anyone that buys this gun
It is very hit or miss when it comes to quality and reliability. I got mine and it's very defective. The slide locks back every time I shoot it l, even though I still have rounds in the mag. I sent it to Century to repair it but when I got it back it still had the same problem. I had someone else shoot it and the problem persisted.

I'm a sucker for single action "cocked and locked" carry pistols. Zastava has been making great functional handguns for many years and this M88A is no different. I was surprised by how small this gun is.....and that is a good thing. Thin and shorter than the T33 type Toks we are all used to. Fits a yaqui holster or a 1911 holster no problem.
I strip and clean all my new pistols. Dont care who the manufacturer is.
Learned over the years some simple mods for a "Tok" type pistol.
Polish the trigger bow. Straighten the trigger retun spring (leaf spring) a tad. I snap off the mag safety as it drags on the trigger bow. Polish the feed ramp in the frame and on the barrel. Lube it like a 1911. Slap a tad of your favorite color on the front sight and go to town.
Carry it cocked and locked with 100% confidence. Ball bearing safety (factory) and firing pin block is absolute for this single action pistol. Mag release may require a simple adjustment but again no big issue at all. Easy and obvious what to do.
I filed a bit off the front sight to bring up the POI= POA. Again....simple and basic stuff here...about 5 or 6 strokes of a file put it dead nut @ 10 yards.
Reliable and built like a military weapon should be built.
By the way Sig sights fit this gun. So if you wish night sites or Big Dot type sites Sig will fit.
Bottom line is this is an excellent vaule and one helluva relibale/accurate weapon/.

Specifically which Sig sights fit the M88?

I agree with the tweaks you've done to yours Sarge, it can pretty easily be made into a much better shooter with a little work. I stone the hammer and sear as well, and even 'straighten' the small leaf spring on the trigger control group to lighten the trigger pull.

At $200 for non-member, I would go with the Taurus G2 9mm, at least the comparison for this gun is the same price but with less capacity and mags, and from the Pic it looks like it has jagged edges which would not make it as good as a CCW as the G2.

I have not shot this gun but have shot the Taurus G2 and the snobs can criticize Taurus all they want but as you notice everyone is always comparing other guns which are usually much higher in price to Taurus and its price to quality ratio.
Add a lifetime warranty and Taurus usually comes out on top. I just scored a $300 stainless steel PT-911 from PSA and I dare anyone to find a better gun at that price point!

I sold my s&w wheel after I bought my ultra lite m85. I have over 1000 rounds through the thing and not a hiccup. I will be buying a taurus 1911 soon. They have really stepped it up from where they used to be. Haters gonna hate ;)

One of the best value truck guns on the market

I don't own one, but I can see the attraction, since it is a good looking gun at a good price, but it seems there are some better pistols out there in 9MM for nearly the same cost. Don't get me wrong, I know the Zastava manufacturing makes great guns, and I own an NPAP that I love and it's outstanding quality for an AK, but I just cannot see pulling the trigger on this gun (pun intended) unless I just want one to have in my collection to say I have it. For $200 you can buy a Taurus PT111 G2 which is lighter, has two mags, carries 13 rounds, has a rail, is easily concealable, has fully adjustable sights, and generally has great reviews online. Double down that Taurus, despite its reputation by some snobs, does have a good warranty. In the interest of full disclosure, I own one and love that gun, but no, I'm unfortunately not getting paid to endorse it. Like I said, probably better options out there for a cheap truck gun than the Zastava, but it's not a bad option otherwise at the cost.

Basically comes down to steel or polymer. I prefer a heavy gun in the console. If you run out of ammo with this, you still have a nice jagged hunk of steel to fight with. You could also use it to break a window with ease. Just load up a few extra mags and throw it in the console and forget about it. I definitely would not advise this gun for carry, the sights for one would seem to get caught on clothing easily. Truck and plink only. It's actually fun to shoot, and will eat any ammo with ease, even +P.

Forgot to add, the biggest flaw of this pistol is the mag release. The button is easily engaged. Especially if you try to carry it on your side. They need to make it smaller or less sensitive.

You guys both have good points. It is kind of a cool cheap gun. I am no gun snob I have some very expensive guns and some really inexpensive guns and can tell you I get far more pleasure finding that cheap diamond than a 1800.00 gun. I can tell you I will never own another Taurus. After 6 months of dealing with their almost useless customer service I will never buy another one. I have to say I have never owned a PT111 so it may be great. I can't seem to bring myself to trust their quality control with my life. This on the other hand really would make a good truck gun. Cheap and if it was confiscated by the local law enforcement I would not feel as if I lost something special. Anyone ever tested one of these out?

I understand. I don't trust any manufacturer or retailer that won't stand up and back their product. For me Taurus has been outstanding. On a a call regarding a second hand 709 "Slim" that I bought that was double feeding, even though I was not registered at all with them, I just gave them my address and the guns serial number and I requested them to send me a new extractor, which they did with no questions and no costs, and I received it within 7 days! My bargain gun buy was fixed by a simple warranty request. Sorry you had so much hassle on your Taurus. I am not sure how the Zastava warranty works on the M88A though. Not sure you can just make a call and get someone on the line like I did with Taurus. Hopefully so.

My guess is that you would be dealing with Century for any warranty work. I had a shotgun with issues that I had to send in for work. In my case, I had to pay to ship it to them. In hindsight, I would have been better finding a gun buy-back event.
