Crappy Seller. Classic is notorious for selling crap and then not only refusing refunds but not allowing any negative reviews on the bad stuff. I had bought a few rifles from them in the past and in one case some addon's they had made. One of them was a Zastava M77 that they made an adapter for that would allow you to use the AR tube and stock. The adapter they made would not fit, they would not allow any negative reviews on the package they were selling them in nor would they refund it.

I thought they were a great company and then that dark side of that company came to light. I didn't even believe the things I was reading about them at first till it bit me. I think I was far madder about the not allowing the negative reviews on a product to warn others of the issues before they could sell them out than I was about them refusing to refund the crap they sold me. If you cannot rely on a company to have integrity then what do they offer? You get a bad deal and you are stuck with it. They decided to sell out their crap to people and not refund it rather than take any loss themselves. I think in the end you are better off taking a small loss than pissing people off to the extreme and losing sales over the years to a bad reputation.

They never tried to make it right but did figure out who I was once before when I posted such a review as this and spammed the hell out of my email with their ads for the next few weeks. Very Classy Classic....

i have the Zastava O-PAP, everything on both the N-PAPs and the O-PAPs are made in Serbia except: Fire Control Group, Gas Piston, Pistol Grip and Muzzle Brake.
Serb's craftsmanship is top notch. the finish is 2nd to none(better than my MAK's and VEPR)and CHF barrel accuracy is par with my VEPR.
i've been on a parts and ammo spree lately, but if i needed other AK it would definitely be the N-PAP DF.

look at the pics, you can see the receiver is stamped ZASTAVA, SERBIA.

A stock military Cold hammer forged barrel is a huge plus. Are the receivers made by Zastava? If they are, then these are hands down an incredible buy. Does anyone know? I’ve seen sellers say they are of a certain make then you get a CAI receiver... I would spend the extra $60 for the underfolder.

I'm not AK savvy at all. The general consensus seems positive on this.

Plain and simple.. Should I buy this? Is this really "that good" of a variant at "that great" of a price?

I hate dragging feet and later feeling like I missed out.

I own one of these and will +1 wormrapers comment. Also these guns are known for "yugo cheekslap". To see what I'm talking about look for Mrgunsandgear doing a video on it. If you shoot the irons on one of these they will smack you in the face every time you shoot. They are solid and reliable but you may end up like me wanting to swap out the furniture so I can shoot the gun without getting knocked around.

How do you manage to get slapped in the face? I couldn't find Mrgunsandgear's video but I did see the AK Operators Union dude trying to explain it but the way he was illustrating the problem was basically the stock touching your shoulder with absolutely zero force. I own this exact gun with only irons and have never had that problem. I am dumbfounded.

sub $500 for a good combloc gun? can't say no. Just a word to the wise, Zastava SERIOUSLY undersprings this gun (and may be over gassed as well), so it's HIGHLY recommended to swap out the recoil spring with a +15% wolff xp spring, or the ALG ACT spring. Lots of people have chimed in with similar reports that it beats the rear trunnion with the stock spring over time and the harder spring helped mitigate that drastically.

Best price I have seen in years. I never see these at sub-$500 price points. I bought mine from J&G Sales a couple years ago during a labor day sale for $499. Great gun that is every bit as accurate as my AR. Mine does have teak tone wood furniture whereas this one comes with polymer. Still $479 is a 'as low as it gets' price.

A couple years back i was able to pick up a used one with a crappy thumbhole stock for only $380 out-of-door. Haven't shot it tho.. but seems like a way better gun than RAS and maybe slightly better or same a New WASR

Do you own a RAS47? Bc I do and I have put 2500 rounds through it with not one problem.

And lots of people didn't die from under-inflated Firestone tires, Toyota's suddenly accelerating cars, or cyanide-tainted Tylenol....guess that disproves any DOCUMENTED problems, right??? Hell, 4 out of 5 people survive playing Russian roulette. Guess that makes it safe as long as we find a success story!

And to answer you question: No, I am not dumb enough to buy an AK built with CAST PARTS when you can get a commie-spec gun for the exact same price. You had the choice of a nice steak dinner or a cold Big Mac for the same price and you picked the Big Mac.
