Mine shoots walnut sized groups at 50 yards and the trigger is surprisingly not bad. Only issue I had was the pin holding the charging handle in was backed out a hair causing rough charging. Smashed it back where it belongs, and now it works great. This is hands down the best semi auto .308 for this price point. And far and away better than century’s prior offerings in the hk world.

I have 2 PTRs, and I love 'em. Had two Century CETMEs years ago & they were total junk. PTRs are real close to the real deal from Germany. Watch out for a new Zenith G3 thus year which is made to HK specs in Turkey including the polygonal barrel.

My nephew-in-laws has a PTR and I had a C308 and they were VERY close in terms of form and function. The PTR had a much better fit and finish though.

I guess it's a good thing that Century had PTR make the receiver pressings for the C308s then, isn't it?

Century CETME vs C308 are different products. Have some real experience with the rifle and know what it is before you feel the need to have an input.

Shipping is 10 bux. I shouldered one at JG sales yesterday...really nice gun for the price. They wanted 700 bux with one left.

I had one and it was a great gun for the price however at 5' 9" this was too big / awkward for me to use as anything other than a range toy. Replaced with an AR-10 and couldn't be happier. Still get nostalgic when I see these posted for under $500.

I like mine. PTR made receiver and upper, surplus inner in great condition, trigger is nasty but is smoothing out use use. It is a hoss of a rifle and seriously fun. I'm getting 2.5 moa with cheap Perfecta ammo. Only thing you might want is to swap the trigger pack. Would be great with wood stock but it's always sold out.

Even at this price is an investment in ANYTHING Century Arms really a good long term investment?

years ago I purchased two Century Arms made CETMEs and they sucked.. looked like HK 91s but would jam, rip apart cases on extraction, needed a rubber mallet to drive out receiver pins, sucked in every aspect. Sold 'em.. Later when they became available, I purchased two PTRs made by JLD Enterprises. Cost 2x the $$ but they were worlds apart, well made, pretty accurate, never ever failed in any way, just a joy to shoot.. So as a seasoned gun owner and collector, my recommendation: spend the extra $$ and get a PTR. They have a great range of available models, life time warranty and are fully compatible with HK accessories & furniture. A decision you shall never regret.. thanks.

Your caution is well-advised, but the almost universally good reviews the C308 has rec'd., combined with the verification that PTR bent the receivers for them has removed some of the trepidation one would normally have with buying a Century Arms-built gun. They've also apparently learned from past mistakes and tried to improve their game. The only caveat would be that during pre-acceptance inspection you apply the bolt-locking/headspace check that is critical & vastly different from other guns for the roller-delayed design.

A good deal at the posted price [$500 on 12/7/18 - sometimes the product listings get reused and price changes aren't easily determined.] To put it in perspective, you can't BYO with a CETME C parts kit, U.S. barrel, receiver flat & necessary tools for this price, which is $200 less than the best price you could find on them a couple of years ago! Smokin' deal, if there was a way to get a "featureless" one behind the Granola Curtain where I live I would do so, but the window on these closed a couple of years ago come Jan 1st...

Santa's bringing some great deals and I could see $400 realistically on this one. Check the reviews though. I think you could build something nice from PSA for comparable/less money. They've had some real sweet deals on AR10 components for hunting season sale.

I really like mine. Could use a trigger job but overall a great fun gun that packs plenty of punch. No BS mine is shooting about 2 MOA with cheap Walmart perfecta ammo. For the price I don't think you'll find a better 308 semi auto.

I bought one from another dealer and had to return one because it was very obviously heavily used and the next because of canted sights. I don't know anything about this dealer but just make sure you buy one from a decent dealer.

I bought the PTR with the "match barrel" and it shot about 3 moa with federal gold medal match and 3-4 other 168-175gr loads. Pure shit. I sold it and bought one of these just to hang on to since I already had glass and 20+ mags for it. I saw several with canted sights and other fuck ups when they first started putting them out but the one that i just picked up seems fine. Came with a five round magazine and two 20 round aluminum surplus mags.
