There is very few things I can do in my back yard that is illegal. Shooting a gun is not one of them.

I've used a bunch of different cans from generics, store-brand, big-name and, for whatever reason, diet Mtn Dew has been the best from a 'not exploding in the barrel' standpoint, and visibility. Happened to be on deep discount when going to the store to pick up a case for the cannon and been using it since. (Regular Coke is just about as bad as some of the generics, about 1 in 3 just explode either in the barrel or rupture on the way out)

Shot from cannon:

• Standard cans
• Tall cans
• Minicans
• Shaving creme
• Whipped creme (both shaving and whipped, while expensive, are spectacular when they explode)
• Tennis balls
• Flaming tennis balls
• Spam (half soda can and cut out of center of Spam chunk)
• Various other things that fit in half of a soda can...
• Homemade spear 'thing' (wooden circle base, foam circle to keep it stable in 'barrel', a few poly streamers to keep it stable in flight. Its about minute of cow at 100Y ;)
• Some other darwin award nominee-worthy things...

The most fun folks have is 'can clays'. While a lot of clean up afterwards, it seems to bring huge laughs and grins to all who come out and take their turns at shooting at the flying cans.

Have you noticed that the more up ward angle you have, the more likely the cans explode? If you angle down, fewer blow up.

Running about 30-degree angle on most can shots. Much higher and it send the can higher than we prefer for can-clays.

Really surprised on how far the cans fly with that much angle. We've got two of them for double-can clays. Given how fast these fly that second can is a real challenge for most folks.
