I wanted this but ended up buying a saiga instead.

Bought 2 of these, one came perfect, but the other has a piston rod pinned too long. This makes for a sloppy bolt. Although at first it looked pretty unsafe to me, I'm guessing with the AK design it won't make much difference functionally.

Anyway, FFS suggested I send back to Century to see if they will fix it. But once you accept the package at your FFL, not much you can do with them...even if you refuse it seems like they will just send back to the mfgr for you. See here: http://www.firearmsforsale.com/return-policy/...

I'm sure FFS just doesn't want to take back tons of firearms because people change their mind or what, but for a brand new gun it's hard to accept that it comes somewhat broken. If it was just cosmetic it would be different, but in this case without taking it to a gunsmith I won't be able to tell if it's functional or safe, and will probably have to get them to fix it in either case.

Since nothing was offered to me by FFS, no discount, coupon or apology...I have a hard time to order from them again.

i just got mine 4 days ago and it's a really well made rifle. I also own an Arsenal SLR 107f and it's not as awesome, but considering the fact that the SLR 107f costs twice as much, I have to say that the n-pap is an amazing rifle for the money. way better than a Wasr. fit and finish is great. the yugo mag that came with it was kind of crusted in old oil, but that's not biggy. clean your gun, go shoot it, and you'll be in love with the sheer value that the n-pap offers. glad I got mine when it was $470. I'd hop on this deal while you can. haven't seen AKs in the $400 range for a while. probably not gonna see them ever at this price again, especially if Mrs. Clinton get's in office (let's pray that never happens).

did yours have a bayo lug?

No, but it did come with a cleaning rod. I was worried about it not having one because some of the other distributers of the n-pap say "may or may not come with cleaning rod" and one of the pictures for the rifle shows it without it.

Can anyone share part numbers for accessories for this gun? I'm having trouble finding a butt stock and a scope mount for this rifle. No one lists the 3rd gen as a match. I'd like to get a 6 position foldable butt stock and a quick release scope mount. Thanks!

Can the furniture on this be swapped out for wooden ones?

0 votes

Yes but Yugo furniture is unique so make sure you are specific in your search. If wood is what you want I would just go ahead & buy the O-Pap instead of the N-Pap. Heavy duty RPK receiver, surplus wood, may or may not have a crest on it (mine did & I actually like it, didn't think I would. Looks hokey in pics but in real life it's very unique) & will have a serial # in the wood which kind of sets it apart. Lastly the O-Pap is as close to an Yugo military issue weapon as you can get, it's full auto cousin is battle proven. Just my 2 cents but bottom line the only reason to get the N-Pap is for the black furniture, other than that O-Pap all the way.

Anybody know if the "buffer tube" for the stock is made out of metal or polymer?

its polymer but its very rugged and well made. The whole stock is made by tapco and you know they make nice stuff with polymers. Hope this helps...

I just got one of these in today. Shipped fast and was exactly as stated with 1 steel mag and 1 Tapco (and cleaning rod). The steel mag appears to be surplus, but that is no problem with any AK mags that I have. The gun had very little Cosmoline to clean up which surprised me. I disassembled and gave it a good, quick cleaning and took it to the range. Now the fun starts. I ran 300 rounds of various ammo through it (mostly Tul 122grn HP) and it liked it all. The bolt seemed a little stiff on the initial mag load, but quickly loosened up and ran smooth as butter. No FTF or FTEs. The gun is a little heavier than my other two AKs, but feels real solid. The jury is still out on the buttstock. After a few more mags, I'll decide whether to keep that buttstock or upgrade.
All said, I really do like this gun and could easily recommend it as a good purchase for the money. I may even pick up another one. Two thumbs up.

I ordered this rifle last week. Firearms for Sale shipped it quickly. The rifle is nice for ~$460 bucks. It came with two magazines. 1 surplus steel and 1 tapco. The steel mag was semi-clean but I will probably take it apart and fully clean it before using it. It looks like it still has some bits of cosmoline on it.

The rifle is *heavy*. It is noticeably heaver then my M+M. I'm a bunch shooter so it doesn't make much of a difference to me but if I had to lug this around in the field I would choose something else.

As others have mentioned the stock is weird. It's almost too big and is uncomfortable to shoulder and put your cheek on. Again this isn't an issue for me as I mounted a surplus commie red dot on it.

One other complaint. The stock doesn't have a mount for a sling. Not really a big deal but would be nice to add.

Overall for under $500 bucks I'm happy and I'm definitely glad I picked this up. I'm anxious to get it out to the range this weekend.

I made it out to the range this weekend and put about 300 rounds through this rifle. Steel Mags, TAPCO plastic and a 75-round drum. The rifle performed flawlessly. I did put a ak style red dot on it as I believe using the iron sights is probably a real challenge. The rifle has a kick/rise to it but overall very manageable. So far I'm very pleased. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this firearm. :)

I have this rifle in a wood stock. It was a great buy at $499 and a perfect first AK buy. SHoots well and built great. Now I want another!!!

Hey guys, I have several pistols, shotguns, rifles, etc, but have yet to own an AK and don't know much about them (but want one for collection at some point). Is this a good all around AK to round out somebody's collection if they only planned on getting just one "best bang for the buck" AK? This looks like a good deal, I just don't know that much about the world of Kalashnikov. I'll appreciate any feedback, thanks guys!

AK's are hammers not precision instruments. About the only real AK advice a 1st timer needs is buy a new factory build with a cold hammer forged barrel (chrome lining only matters if you're shooting corrosive & don't clean your weapon) both of which are covered with this N-Pap. Price wise $466 seems high to me for ANY AK but I'm old & grouchy & remember when the dollar was actually worth a dollar. In todays market this is a solid rifle at a reasonable price. Buy it. But beware AK's are addictive.

Awesome! thanks Jabes0623, much appreciate your thoughts and it looks like I may be taking your advice and adding this as my AK in my collection. Thank you

Any feedback from anyone else is also appreciated. Happy shootin' fellow Americans!

You can see my brief review up top, but I'd have to say "go for it"! But as Jabes0623 said.....they are addictive. I have a safe full of ARs and find myself grabbing my AKs for fun.

It's ok deal nothing to fret about. But looking back a year ago same rifle was close to $700. Prices are dropping. Good sign

The 15-off coupon works. It wouldn't from either one of my tablets, but worked fine from my laptop. You can also get another $5.00 off by registering for their website.

coupon does work, although I purchased a different gun, seems the box is preset for 30-off which is for over $500 so you have to stop the screen from loading so you can change the 30 to a 15 then hit apply.

I cant help myself with that price. first the m92 for $400 then a decent N-Pap for $466 shipped. Curious how long these prices will stay around. I will review once mine comes in.

definitely cant get the coupon working either. Is it functioning and can anyone confirm this price is current? pooper....

Try coupon code 15-OFF. It worked for me.

You can ask them in chat what coupons they currently have. When I talked to them two weeks ago they said the 5% off coupons expired. It was certainly the case for the one from the pop up and the arfcom one. I think they just forgot to get rid of the five-off one until now.

Ok folks cross your fingers I just asked the gf if i she would buy this for me. late
birthday gift you know?

not sure why the neg votes i would guess its from the ak purist who prefer wood stocks... but it would cost you more time and aggravation than the extra $69 to outfit a regular $500 m70 with a collapsible stock. I own this gun and can tell you it runs flawlessly and is a good buy at this price !

a few reasons for down votes:
1. yes, the M4 stock looks dumb on an AK (an opinion tho)
2. $570 bucks for an NPAP is tooooo much
3. J&G Sales in general, like Corpsie says, they go through the boxes and take the mags out
4. Century is below average for reliable AK's... glad you got a good one
5. seriously, collapsible stock is retarded on an AK
6. J&G customer service is very condescending and unprofessional

I tried the side folding/collapsing ati stock on my ak and i never adjust it because it feels awkward and is to long to shoot comfortably, side folding is cool i guess but really nothing more since im never shooting in confined areas i dont use it. Waste of money and an ak imo,ill be going back to the wood stock once i get around to refinishing it, oh and the ati polymer handguard is a waste to it just feels cheap and the rail always come loose

Probably because these rifles ship from Century with 2 magazines and J&G sales takes one out of the box. Shame on J&G

You have to physically type in the code SLICK-FIVE, the code is still working. If you just click on the 5%off link, it applies a different code that is no longer valid

Five-off. Have to add the hyphen

For me, SLICK-FIVE was not working. Neither is the Five-off at the moment. The site still has the "pop-up" come up that says take 5% off a firearm purchase, though I didn't read the terms. I clicked on it and nothing happened as I went through the ordering process. Guess I'll go back to pursuing the Yugo M70AB2 folder, my first choice anyway.

It no longer works although the promo was reposted and promoted on gun.deals on Monday, i had 2 NPAPS in my cart with the discount applied and paused to complete checkout, when i resumed the checkout, the discount was no longer working, as confirmed by Sam Drysden from FiIREARMSFORSALE.COM, "This discount coupon has been pulled because it was created for the wrong item. I am sorry for the confusion." This is aside from the fact that the pop up on their website had you submit your email address for 5% off all firearms, which i did, but also did not work, a giant waste of time and a disappointment, very misleading at best!

Anyone having any luck with the 5% coupon? I was able to apply it to a new order but the guy I talked to said that it's only good for December and he can't apply to existing order.

Just picked it up. I couldn't resist. $449.95 with coupon....Even If I don't like it. It will sell instantly for the price around here.
Thanks

Pretty good deal. In for one. I know CAI has earned itself a terrible reputation, but I've owned two excellent Serbian Zastava firearms that were imported by Century. The PAP 7.62 pistol and the Sig 226 clone, the CZ99. Both were incredibly high quality, on par with brands that retail for double of what I paid. I've been looking for an AK in the $450 range that wasn't Romanian, Egyptian, or Chinese.

FYI - the coupon code above still works. Got $5 off.

gen 2.. gen 3 is the opap. The early paps/ npaps had the single stack bolts and trunnions but were weeded out a long time ago. These should definitely have double stack bolts etc....
