What do they mean when they write pre-cut foam
pick-n-pull foam maybe, where the foam has serrations cuts in a grid pattern for you pull out only what you want.
Looks like a Pelican knockoff. Anyone have any experience with these?
The xtreme series of cases are nice. They are made of a glass filled composite material that is very stiff. Foam is of a good density and pre-cut. Hinges and clasps are metal. Good gasket, pressure relief, and locking points. Very comfortable carry handles that have a good stiffness in the handle hinge to avoid flopping around. The only weak point of the entire design is that the Cabela's label is easy to remove which is probably a plus overall, and some might prefer non pre-cut foam. Overall these are great cases and if you are close enough to do a store pickup with the sale prices, there is not much room to be disappointed unless the size is not right for you. The two pistol case is pretty big and could fit two 1911's with a few mags/accessories if you lay them out right, or two compacts with a bunch of other stuff.
Agreed. I have a stack of (rifle) cases, Pelicans, Stormcase, and even some of the Plano 108360 weather guard (WM Black Friday from a few years ago). I bought two of theArmor xtreme rifle cases on one of the Cabela's super sales and while they are much more rigid than the Plano 108360s, they are not as rugged as my Plano 1700 series cases. For the price, if you are looking for a decently-rugged weather-sealed case with metal latches you can get one for less than half the price of a comparable pelican (again, my comparison is rifle cases), while only giving up a little in durability. Would I ship something internationally in one? No, I use a Pelican or Stormcase for that duty.
