Hitting 7" target at 275yards with a 243. Eye relieve is almost too much, clear glass and generous eye box. It's the best $60 scope I've ever bought. Downside is the turrets are a little mushy but for 60, If it holds up, will be in the good buy category.
12/26/2017 range update
Mounted to a savage mk2 fvsr 22lr
Great eye relief, Very clear glass, good construction, light weight, positive feel adjustment knobs, good price, no complaints. Zeroed in after a few rounds and lovin it. Makes this bolt action a nice tack driver.
Thanks for the reply. I bought one for Winchester Xpr 243 budget build ($200 after rebate at cdnn crazy cheap!). I think people need to realize that modern manufacturing, even in china, can deliver yesterday's top shelf scopes for very affordable prices. heck even bolt action rifles are cheap and reliable today.
so who makes these scopes or what are they comparable to? Burris Nikon tasco? any info would be great.
I would say about vortex crossfire ish. Maybe a touch better.
I was impressed for 59$ clarity is really good. But, I’ve only got so many rounds through one so idk how t would hold up.
Update .they shipped it today 1-23-16.:-) I completely forgot about it
Just got a new update from cabela.
Backordered:
Estimated: Feb. 10, 2016
Bought 1 last night and got an email stating they went on backorder until February 5, 2015.
Bought one.
Does anyone know if they have a sunshade for these?
Thanks
got one, inital impression is good. Especially for the money. Havent' got it mounted yet so all Im really commenting on is the clarity and eye relief. Will up date after mounted and sighted.
Bought 2 of these last week. One is going on a Molot Vepr in 7.62x54R, the other will start out on an AR but might also eventually be installed on an AK. I haven't done much but mock-up the scopes and get them positioned for eye relief. So far I'm pretty pleased with this model. I'm going to hopefully get them sighted in this weekend. Eye relief is good, glass is clear, and there's no discoloration or other issues on the edges.
This scope look's like a weaver kaspa..... not so nice scope
I purchase 5 rifles a year. Not really sure why but I do for some reason. 4 out of 5 will have scopes. I just like good glass.
I have purchased several of the 149.00 scopes from Cabelas. The are some of the best sub 300.00 scopes I have owned and work very well. At 59.99 this is a really good deal. You will not be disappointed.
In response to 'crusselltn' question:
I purchased the Cabela's Alpha scope last year in Nov. for around the same price to replace a tired, big name 3x9-30 scope on my .270 deer rifle. I was so impressed with the Alpha, I ordered 2 more. One for my AR and the other as a gift for by buddy who shot my setup and wanted one for his .30-06.
This was my reasoning:
1. After researching near price point scopes, the Alpha represented an exceptional value supported by the confidence of a no-nonsense lifetime warranty. Value at the price point is the key here--understand that this is not a $500 scope, so set your expectations accordingly. That said, it performs better than most $200+ scopes I've used.
2. The glass is clear and captures a decent amount of light. It's coated glass unlike some of the very cheap Chinese scopes. There is no loss of clarity through the zoom range. And despite the usual rough fall/winter hunting temps, I have not experienced any fogging. The build quality is very good--feels rather solid. The reticle is nice--simple and clean, yet offers subtle graduation marks at 100 yard intervals.
3. Excellent usability right out of the box. And eye relief is respectable for this price point.
It took 3 shots to sight in at 100 yds on bench using my .270 bolt action since I had the benefit of barrel sighting with the bolt removed first. A year later after the usual bumps and bruising in the truck and woods, the scope maintains the same POI with the same hunting rounds.
My AR took about 7 rounds to sight in at 70 yds. And again, there has not been any shift, reticle bounce, etc. after about 600+ rounds.
4. I mentioned the warranty above. Cabela's is very good about claims--they do not hassle or require extraordinary steps to claim a warranty concern.
I've heard first hand stories of folks attempting to claim warranty on low end Chinese scopes purchased online. It turns into a series of painful gymnastics with no confidence of a real resolution until you've wasted time and money in shipping back to the merchant.
There is perhaps one point worth noting: since these are made to 'Cabela's specs' by a Chinese mfgr. there is some question as to one year's 'batch' meeting the same quality level if different mfgr. is contracted. But, again, they do come with a solid warranty...and after all, if you don't like it, you can simply return it to either a store location or ship back to Cabela's. The downside is defined.
Hope this helps--
Can you tell me what type of turrets this scope has?
Anyone have any experience with this scope? I need something for my new Savage .17 HMR.
