I believe Smith and Wesson still produces this rifle but they come with updated slimline furniture.
To get these to move they are still going to have to drop price further.
The only way this comes off the shelves, is $150 off the price tag and shipped free. Rifle that’s no longer in production for a reason.
Mid-length vs carbine
4150 vs 4140
1:8 vs 1:9
Drop the price 100 bills and you got a deal
If the barrel was 1:7 I would have bought
Trying to decide between this and Colt 6920 at gunprime for $750.
You can get the Colt expanse MP edition for less and I would go with that over a pencil barrel M&P.
Far superior rifle for cheaper:

This is their higher end model NOT the sport. This has never been 499 even without magpul
Little overpriced. Gun can get frequently for $499 and furniture not worth $200 more.
Not a sport. Go read about the rifle before you post.
What’s the difference between this and a sport outside of some furniture?
It is difficult to find the differences on the internet There is mostly just people telling others that they are wrong about this rifle not being the sport and then it is left at that.
Mostly, the difference is barrel, and trigger but there are specific customizations to make the Sport II more affordable.
Watch this video for a comparison of the Sport II vs two other S&W AR-15 rifles: https://youtu.be/iIuqF5Vq9_o...
Don't need another AR.......must have Magpul lower.......
In case anyone missed out on this deal, we have very limited quantities of this item remaining and today is the LAST day for them to be sold at $900 plus free shipping. They will be $940 starting tomorrow.
Updated some quantities to the site. We only have 7 FDE and 3 Black left as of the time of this posting!
This is an awesome deal on a bad ass rifle. I have th 311053(LE) and it is a great rifle. Chews up anything, Tul, Wolf, Herters, etc. I paid $860 LE price so $900 shipped is a steal. The 1/8 5R barrel and Magpul stamped billet lower are awesome. So very happy with this rifle. Through a Vortex red dot on it and crushing Tac courses on a budget. S&W really did something right here. All the Magpul goodies factory, and an awesome barrel coupled with an amazing warranty. Carried a Bushmaster for duty and shot many Colts. This one doesnt miss a step.
Sweet deal! The free shipping and possibility of no sales tax, make this the best price I've seen on this one. I've owned the M&P MOE for about three years and have a Colt issued at work. The SW is just as good as the Colt but less expensive. Anyone eligible for the rebate would be missing out on a huge deal on a quality AR if they miss the rebate.
So if I'm military and get the rifle for $850 AR is that a smoking deal or so so? Also, is the quality of this rifle similar to the Colt variant that looks exactly the same? Looks like the S&W has 1:8 twist and the Colt has 1:7. I've been contemplating building my own with an FN barrel from PSA, NiB BCG from aimsurplus, BCM charging handle, etc. for $200-300 less than one of these that is built. Which way do you experts recommend I go? Thank you!
I can just tell you this. The colt dealer cost is around $1040 with no rebate if I am not mistaken, and the S&W dealer cost is around $940-945 with a $100 rebate.
Edit - Also, the rebate link above should say excludes M&P 15 Sport. It is only good for 5.56 caliber rifles.
This M&P is not the M&P sport and it is a 5.56 rifle.
So are you saying people are selling the Colt and S&W for less than they pay or am I misunderstanding what you are saying? The Colt LE6920MP is $959 right now as well.
At $680 this certainly ain't no "deal"
