I used to think that rubbery Duratouch Armor coating on these was neat until I started reading reviews about it. Not sure if it’s been improved but the older reviews say it gets sticky after a year or two. Not sure if maybe the reviewers stored them in high humidity or what the conditions were, but it made me skeptical about buying an X-Bolt with it on.
Your skepticism is well founded. I have one in .308 and initially loved the gun. Accurate, smooth action, consistent. However, even after storing in a temperature and humidity controlled safe, mine became sticky after about 3 years. YMMV. It's not terrible, and you kind of get used to it. Certainly suboptimal, to say the least.
