Having shot a baby rock on a couple different occasions, and owning a Browning 1911-380 BL, I can attest that both pistols have snappy recoil. The added weight (or weight distribution) of the Baby Rock seems to help a bit in this regard. IMO, as the bulk of weight for the 1911-380 is in the slide, recoil is actually exaggerated a bit but it's still very controllable given the slimmer grips and checkering on both the front and back strap. If I recall correctly (and I may not be) the Baby Rock doesn't have checkering which, IMO, it could use...but I'm sure opinions will vary in this regard. As far as build quality is concerned, I would place the Browning at least a notch or two above the baby rock, and the trigger of the 1911-380 is significantly better than the BR.

The RIA is a blowback action and has a snappy recoil like a Walther PPK. I know I had one. The Browning is a locked breech design with modest recoil..

Read the reviews before you purchase. These are great looking/feeling guns and its definitely a "cute" little 1911. But they have a lot of plastic parts including the frame and have questionable reliability - again read the reviews. I just about bought one - but ended up going with the Baby Rock by Rock Island Arms. Same caliber, same size, ALL Steel, and only 2/3's the price. And the Baby Rock mags cost 1/2 as much as Browning mags. Sorry Browning, for the price and reliability these are kind of a fail :(

Agreed..No substitute for cold hard steel... Just not sure on the quality compromise... Interesting to see how well it stands up, & accuracy.

So it has a plastic frame ...... like a glock ... one of the most reliable pistols out there .. I almost took you seriously till you compared a browning to a RIA ... The first one we got in the store had to be sent back and we bought back 4 more after that ... never saw a browning come back
