M16 Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group 5.56x45mm Nitride
Cartridge: 5.56 mm NATO
Finish: Nitride

Designed for Lightweight, Low-Recoil Rifles

The Brownells M16 Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group is purpose-built for AR-15 owners looking to improve aspects of their rifle with a simple component swap, eliminating the need for major component replacement or amateur gunsmithing work.

The Brownells M16 Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group is machined from 8620 tool steel and features a heavy-duty bolt made using 9310 tool steel, which is then magnetic-particle inspected to ensure quality. The bolt is light enough to reduce the overall weight of a lightweight AR build, and the lightness of the entire assembly also reduces the felt recoil of any AR-style firearm.

- Available with nickel-boron, titanium-nitride or nitride finishes
- Weighs 8.2 ounces
- Compatible with AR-15s chambered in 5.56 NATO, .223 Rem., 300 Blackout and .204 Ruger

The Brownells M16 Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group ships completely assembled and features the necessary black insert and O-ring around the extractor, as well as a torqued and staked gas key.

can someone answer me this, Whats the difference when a BCG says "M16" vs AR15? is it overall strength for full auto?

A BCG rated for/as M16 is a little heavier (more mass at the back) than one listed as an M15 BCG. An M16 BCG also has a different cut to it in order to run an auto sear. You can run, and many people prefer, a M16 BCG in your AR15. It's added weight will help slow down your carrier speed and this in turn would cause a slight reduction in felt recoil as well as a small increase in dwell time. Other than the added material at the back of the carrier, and the difference in the cut on the bottom of the back of the carrier, they are identical and interchangeable.

Minus 3 oz! Great for a lightweight build. I would buy another. My Spikes Tactical bolt weighs 11.35oz and my Brownells weighs 8.2oz. Made a big difference in the "perceived feel" on a lightweight build. I purchased the Nib BCG for $99 during one of their promos. Nice looking Nib coating. Running it on a BA Hanson barrel with non-adjustable gas block. The Spikes BCG with T1 buffer and carbine spring ejected at 4 o'clock with Wolf Gold. When I changed to the Brownells lightweight BCG, it was ejecting at 3 o'clock. Switched to a $20 flatwire recoil spring and it ejects in a nice little pile at 4 o'clock. No FTF, FTE, and BHO - great after 100 rds.

I have one but haven’t run it yet. It appears good.

edit: Tried pairing this with a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block but every setting gave WAY too much gas with standard American Eagle 223 and a2 buffer. Hit the shoulder like my bolt action. May try another gas block with more settings.
