The core operating system of the popular BRN-180™ with new straight charging handle, fits standard AR-15 lower receivers.
Based on the 16” BRN-180™ Gen2, the BRN-180™ Sport foregoes the ejection port cover allowing for the use of a straight charging. This arrangement allows for a slimmer profile on the ejection port cover side and avoids interference with wide optic mounts and accessories. The charging handle location is also lower, making it faster to actuate with the firing hand of right-hand shooters.
Operating system of the BRN-180™ Sport is unchanged from the Gen2 models, with a reliable short stroke gas piston that can be easily maintenance with removal of the handguard. The gas system is also adjustable, with two settings, ensuring you can select the softest shooting setting. Handguard is retained with a single screw at the bottom, near the trunnion. Loosening the screw allows the free float handguard to be slid forward. MLOK slots surround the handguard, allowing attachment of various accessories. Monolithic like upper & handguard fitment ensures a consistent top Picatinny rail to align optics.
Like other BRN-180™ Upper Receivers, the Sport fits any standard AR-15 lower receiver.
The BRN-180™ is chambered in .223 Wylde - for extra flexibility in ammo choice - with 1-8"" rifling, so it handles both .223 Remington and military-type 5.56mm NATO ammo with equal aplomb. Up front there's a replica of the AR-180's unusual three-prong flash hider: the hemispherical bottom prong helps prevent the muzzle blast from kicking up a dust signature when shooting prone. Standard ½-28 tpi muzzle threads let you swap on a modern AR-15 muzzle device should you be bitten by the customizing bug.
