AK platform is dead imo you can only Bank on loose tolerances making it go bang every time you pull the trigger for so long. The prices they have on the platform now is just ridiculous if the air breathers can't see there's better options for the money now they never will. All that counts at the end of the day is putting lead on steel at any range the AR platform does it better for cheaper.

***Your statements are so jacked I am going to need to take on one line at a time***

“AK platform is dead”

The most produced and still most commonly used firearm around the world is “dead?” It’s super simple design and ruggedness stopped serving a purpose in exactly what year? The larger caliber has many advantages (and disadvantages) to the AR’s much smaller, however faster round. Many states will not even let you deer hunt with a .223 / 5.56. I am surprised someone like yourself, who seems so worried about cost, does not find that to be a huge benefit not needing to own both a hunting and battle rifle.

“you can only Bank on loose tolerances making it go bang every time you pull the trigger for so long”

Are you suggesting that reliability is not a desirable attribute or anyone who is serious about firearms is not going to EXPECT in any gun they buy? BTW, most cheap AR’s have very loose tolerances while many AK's don't. You are recycling 20 year old shit from the "parts kit' days.

“The prices they have on the platform now is just ridiculous”

Like another user stated; import bans. PSA makes some really nice entry level AK’s for almost the same price as any decent entry level *reliable* AR. AK’s require more labor as well as special tools to make so I can forgive them for the extra $50 premium some run.

“if the air breathers can't see there's better options for the money now they never will”

“Air breathers?” Did you mean *mouth* breathers? I hope you breathe air otherwise I am going to call the M.I.B.

“All that counts at the end of the day is putting lead on steel at any range the AR platform does it better for cheaper.”

If all you care about is cost and “putting lead on steel at any range” why don’t you buy a semiauto Mossberg 702 at Walmart for $112? That steel isn’t going to mind the 22LR cartridge and you still have almost 400 dollars for your pampers.

Damn dude, have you even held an AK?

While I am extremely fond of AR 15's, AK's are not dead. AR's are easy to assemble/build and can be very accurate with the right components. Ak's also can be very accurate. I really like my WASR 10 and it is accurate. Classic Firearms had a good deal on AMD 65 barreled upper receivers and all parts except for the lower receiver, less than $300 shipped. I purchased two and am getting into building AK's. I am super excited about it. I will mention that building AK's requires an entirely different set of tools and in my opinion is a bit more complicated than AR-15's.

I contemplated getting into AK builds but the dearth of reasonable parts kits turned me off. 15 years ago sure, but now days it doesn't seem like it makes much sense.

AKs dead, from the guy that doesn't own one, clearly....

It only seems dead because American import bans keep out the ones who know how to manufacture them. To me it seems more related to American manufacturing being dead. Its incorrect to think aks are reliable bc of loose tolerances. Any monkey can put together an ar15, it takes a craftsman to build a proper ak47

Ak platform is dead eh? Maybe the rest of the world didn't get that memo for the last 60+ years. If your justification for the platform being "dead" is the rising ak price ... then I suggest you be poor somewhere else. Hard to compare the AR to the AK. Both are tools of destruction, one a scalpel the other a sledgehammer. I choose the sledgehammer
