You OBVIOUSLY don’t know shite about military grade firearms. HAVE u ever even served? This sounds like a bunch of idiots that don’t know there asses from their mothers.... I’ve used a number of different “heavies” in various theaters around the world (including the scar heavy, the Sr 25, the M 14 (yes it’s still used in various missions in AFG) and trained with the HK 417 (all are amazing rifles with the the KA SR 25, the scar 17 (and 16 although it never saw a lot of actual combat), and the 417 without a doubt are (3) of the the finest military combat rifles ever manufactured. The fact that we can buy the Scar 17 and mod it out to our individual specs is such a privilege and joy. With the Geissele super scar trigger, it instantly becomes of the greatest rifles in military history. It’s hear to stay cry babies, so go suck your thumbs and quit pretending you know jack about military style assault rifles. Your probably too dam cheap or poor to buy one. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard such horrid claptrap.....

I'm no spec ops hardass but I've spent most of my career attached to sof teams. I can guarantee this voyager guy isn't who he is pretending to be. Ass whooping when CO'w are nowhere to be found? That statement in and of itself shows how fake you are.

I bought one because Navy SEELs say that SCARs are the best rifle for LARPing on Instagram with.

Best price for a scar? I guess no one ever told them about gunbroker where you can get a new scar over $100 less than this even after the coupon.

Shocked there is still a market for these given their lack of VALUE when compared to any $1500 AR-10.

But then again some guys really like to LARP

I think that's a fair complaint with the 16 vs AR15's because the scar 16 really doesn't bring much you can't get a host of other places with the AR15, Bren, etc. However, in the .308 world AR10's are heavy and poorly balanced (some are getting better), also there are a lot more functional issues, and reliability issues with the AR10 platforms than the AR15. So while I don't see much advantage to the Scar 16, with so many other good 223 options with similar weight/balance, the 308 platform is a bit different. As time goes on though that difference gets smaller, more AR10s out there, more options, better reliability.

Speaking from personal experience, there is no other rifle I would rather go on a mission where walking distance is required (pending on criteria etc. ) than a suppressed Scar 16 SBR....In my experiences, I consider it to b the Most reliable suppressed rifle I’ve ever had the privilege of shooting. This rifle is vastly superior to ANY standard direct impingement rifle on the market if your mission requires the sustained heavy use of fire using a suppressor. They run incredibly well and are extremely durable under the harshest conditions.

All of the direct impingement rifles that are of military quality such as DD, Knights Armament, FN (DI), etc. may be run suppressed but with sustained fire will begin coughing around the 400 round count assuming the rifle is extremely clean and properly maintained initially.
Those may sound like big numbers but in a firefight (until the Air Force rescues you), even the most disciplined soldiers burn they ammo really, really quickly. ITS IMPERATIVE that you have a rifle that’s 110% reliable under these extremely harsh suppressed conditions.

If I needed a standard M4 type carbine for regular troops an M4 variant WOULD BE FINE. Colt, DD, FN, etc etc etc are fantastic rifles. HOWEVER, If I’m going after an Osama bin laden type, I want the SBR suppressed scar 16....there is no better, more reliable 5.56 available currently on the market. If you have worked extensively with suppressors and SBR’s, then compare my beloved knights Armament SR 15 SBR 11.5” rifle with a QDC CQB Suppressor to a Scar 16 10” rifle using the same suppressor. You would be SHOCKED at how utterly reliable that SCAR 16 is under heavy heavy usage....I’ve fired almost everyone in the us military arsenal including the DDM4MK18.....none of them when suppressed could hold a candle to the scar 16 SBR under heavy sustained fire. It’s that great...

I've owned so many AR platform rifles it's downright comical. I liked most all of them. Most were fine performers from manufacturers like Sig, Colt, Daniel Defense, Barrett, Spikes, old Bushmaster, Aero Precision etc. However, none handled or felt like a SCAR. 16s or 17s. I'm not saying the "juice is worth the squeeze" but most AR10/15 rifles don't even belong in the same playing field with the SCAR16s/17s. Best is subjective, although I've more than given the AR platform it's fair share of tries. I only needed one SCAR and I was hooked. You only YOLO once. And no, I'm not a Call of Duty nerd. I actually own and shoot them.

I'm guessing he's asking how exactly does a SCAR out perform a quality AR or even a Mid Level AR. How can a SCAR justify the cost of 6 mid level ARs put out buy companies like Ruger and Smith or the Price of 2 ARs with a hand picked DIY build. Where are you using this AR other than a shooting range that calls for stuff a normal AR can't handle? What are you shooting at that a hand picked AR can't match the accuracy? I'm of course just guessing at his question because that's what I would like to know. I can shoot a $300 Smith as well as a $800 Sig but I choose to carry the Sig. I've had 0 problems from either but, I choose the SIg because "I" like it. I could not explain how it is any better than the Smith that does the same thing for less and is just as reliable if not more so. If we are talking 308s then that would probably be 3 mid level AR10s and 1.5 DIY builds. My YOLO is having lots of cool toys not just 1.

I totally understand and respect your opinion on the whole AR10 vs SCAR 17 argument, but its apples and oranges. Sure, I like the taste of both but...one is sweeter.

Look at it this way, you can buy a decent quality AR10 from Larue with their build an upper kit for like ~1700 (2 mags, cerakote, and muzzle brake). Or you can buy a 17s for ~3000. Which is a better buy? At first, you might say logically it's the Larue because it is more accurate and cheaper plus American made. Great, I think that is fine logic and have added it all to my cart a dozen times. However, the SCAR at 3k (FDE, but Black is 2.7k) only has the potential to rise in price (election year) plus it will sell super quick on second hand market. Financially, it's the better choice because let's be honest, most of Ameica is all about their "mUH PalMEtto StaTE ar10" and give no shits about quality (low quality vs high quality AR10), but let's me real, every grown man is a kid at heart and wants the baddest rifle on the planet (SCAR 17s prices continue to reflect its dominance in this respect).

From a financial and modern field proven/tested perspective, the SCAR has no competition other than MAYBE the CZ BREN 2 BR (which is as elusive as a truthful politician in America).

This is America so you are free to choose whatever, but after about owning 125 guns at my young age...you learn quick (I'm young and learn quick so there is still hope for Ameica right?) that you can only tote one rifle at a time so buy the best you can afford.

Ya, why is it better, and when you say none handled or felt like it, in what ways do you mean?

Or go get an ACE galil for half the price

My most accurate AK variant is the IMI Galil (new version). It’s more accurate than my Milled Receiver Arsenal AK 107...with golden tiger ammo I can hold 2 inch groups at 100 meters which says a lot for an AK....most ak’s 4-5 MOA....they are extremely reliable Imho.....however they don’t have the “precision “ that some missions may require.....

The Galil ace while a fine rifle isn’t close for my mission requirements. It has be sbr’d, it’s has to be suppressed and it has to extremely accurate out to 300 Yards and 110% reliable. The Galil is a great carbine or decent SBR, but it’s not a suppressed SBR that can handle accurate heavy volumes of fire without choking. I love the favors also. I forgot to want to mention one aspect of the Scareither 16 or 17 is that it requires purchase of a guys look super structured which is fine because the rifle is so good it’s well worth it .

The Galil is another overpriced POS like the SCAR.
