Striker fired pistols are becoming an important segment worldwide for the Military & Law Enforcement sector. The Beretta APX, utilizing a removable, serialized chassis frame, can be easily modified with a replaceable grip frame housing and is simple to disassemble and maintain. The lightweight frame housing is made of fiberglass reinforced technopolymer. The APX’s extremely low profile and snag free design make it easy to carry and draw from a holster. Ease of use was the key driver in the development of the APX. A slide catch lever is located on both sides of the frame. The operating/locking system is based on a tilt-barrel, locked breech. Beretta APX pistols have a unique feature that allows the user to deactivate the internal striker mechanism prior to disassembly. This means the pistol can be field stripped without pulling the trigger. The Trigger Safety stops the trigger from traveling rearward through inertia, in the event the pistol is dropped. When the trigger is intentionally pulled, the Trigger Safety is instantly deactivated.
Frame safety, magazine safety, and a loaded chamber indicator are available on request. To accommodate right or left-handed use, the APX’s magazine release button can be easily reversed. The high-definition 3-dot sight system is designed for quick target acquisition. The new sight system, patented by Beretta, allows the user to adjust both front and rear sights. The sights can be removed for replacement with other types of sights. Thanks to a newly patented modular system, the pistol adapts to different hand sizes with interchangeable back-straps of different thickness and configuration for individualized performance. The pistol comes with a standard Picatinny rail (MIL STD 1913) under the barrel.
DUTY GRADE - The APX was built with professional end users in mind. Nearly 1 million rounds fired during extensive laboratory and field testing ensures the highest degree of reliability and durability.
ERGONOMICS - Control Placement, grip angle, bore axis, and grip texturing on the APX are designed for maximum efficiency to achieve speed and accuracy.
TRIGGER - The wide, flat trigger design with a clean, crisp break and short tactile reset allows consistent engagement and fast, repeatable shot placement.

Why does everyone always complain about new guns that come out? It's nice to have options on the market for new and old shooters alike. It's always glock this glock that. Don't get me wrong glock is a good gun but to make it a great gun you have to buy add ons or modify it and now you have companies making guns that are just as good if not better right out the box without having to purchase anything else for it. This is a nice gun and it does have great ergonomics. IMO it fits nicer in the hand then a glock 19. People shouldn't complain about who buys what as long as people are buying guns. I don't care what color caliber or brand, if it's bringing non-gun people over to guns shut up and support them . As gun owners we face enough bullshit so there is no need arguing amongst each other just because someone likes something other then a glock or s&w, or picks a 9mm over a .45, striker fired over hammer, or polymer over a 1911. As long as it's for the right reasons support your fellow gun nuts cause one day we may need their help!!

No, when I posted my comment the title said 4 x17rd magazines but when I tried to order it was only 3. Now the deal title has been changed to 3. Oh well. Just keep waiting as overall prices continue to decline on almost everything.

I say again, since you insist on yet another unqualified and only marginally related emotional rant....

Not exactly sure what you are trying to communicate "Gym."
Can you expound on your personal experience for us as it pertains to the Beretta APX?

Sunway;

I understand and support the "value" in the APX over a stock Glock, but would you please share your reasoning for stating this new and completely unproven weapon (of similar design/materials etc) is "superior quality" than a Glock?

The deal title here just hasn't been updated

Istill don't get it. Baretta already has several guns that carry the same amount of rounds and cost about the same amount of money, as do 10 other gun companys, and they all are copys of the Glock, "the stryker fired ones", to what end does it serve?Walther, Smith ,H&K, CZ, Remington,Sig, Glock etc, similar in every way. You can take any of them and swap out the parts, like Zev, or Apex, and spend 2 grand making one shoot like another, or buy a Sphinx or CZ semi custom and spend 2-3 grand on a hand fitted gun. It seems like until someone makes something really different, this is what will keep coming out every month, which is why the firearm business is dying right now, several are going belly up with to many models and too few sales.
A man really only needs 2 oe 3 pistols at best to cover all of his needs the rest is just overkill iMHO. People are starting to figure this out since the elections. I don't see the need to keep coming out with copys of copys, as good as they may be. The Canik was the ideal idea of a good gun for a cheap price, how much better is everything else? I don't own one, but if I were in the market for a duty or HD /SD gun, I would look that way.
It's all marketing at this point, flashy film clips. The guns are all similar. Does anyone really care what the seals carry or Rangers, they carry whatever they want, usually a Glock or a Sig, whatever is reliable, light and carries 15+ rounds of 9mm.

Update: the pistol shipped within a day. Nice

I bought one and have been very pleased with it. The trigger is certainly better than a stock Glock not to mention the ergonomics. Yes you can upgrade a Glock but why, when you can buy an upgrade like the APX for less money and superior quality? The PPQ of course still holds the title for the best out of the box trigger. Beretta did a good job with this one and it looks much better in person than the photo.

How does the trigger compare to nicer striker fired pistols like those from FN, Sig, Steyr, HK, Walther?

The trigger is not quite as smooth as the PPQ but pretty much on par with the HK VP9 that I have.

Can you expound on your personal experience for us as it pertains to the Beretta APX?

Come on, does anyone need a half dozen guns that do the exact same thing the same way? This is sheer stupidity a this point, Be it Baretta Sig, H&K, M&p, Walther, they all follow the same leader, Glock, they only took 30 years to decide that they needed 3 sizes of stryker fired guns that all do the exact same thing. It's like chevy ford and chrysler.
They have a small mediun and large car. does anyone really need 15 guns in various sizes that all do the exact same thing,
Aside from the trigger, which they make kits for now in every model, it's all marketing, no one is going to make you a better shot because you got the latest super duper 9mm pistol. The Sphinx is the latest hammer fired Swiss watch type quality gun copied from CZ, but honestly if you can't shoot well enough to know the difference this is an endless game of taking the consumers money with the latest new pair of Basketball sneakers that make you just like Jordan, Not
Save your money and shoot what you have more often, perhaps a Revolver which is now making a big comeback, like Vynal records. Yep they are back also. After 40 years of hearing how much better cassettes, 8 tracks, dvd, and streaming was, now peple have gone full circle spending Thousands on Turntables, kind of like guns.
Realistically unless you are a collector, "who doesn't buy plastic guns other than a Glock to protect the others, it's a giant waste of money, unless you are buying something that actually has purpose and value. Otherwise you will just lose money next month when Hammers gome back in, or some new Rifle or shotgun becomes the must have thing.

Your seriously overthinking this.

People buy polymer pistols other than glocks for various valid reasons. They like a pistol with better ergonomics or firepower or a better trigger.....all kinds of different things. Choice drives innovation. Besides, every big maker has to have their own line of striker fired pistols to get LE agency contracts these days. For those guys, hammer fired guns are on the way out and have been for years because striker fired pistols cost less and simplify training. Another valid reason to own multiple brand's pistols is because you can.

Handled one yesterday. Grip feels ideal and what a G17 should feel like after a custom job. For an out of the box gun, the texturing provided ample grip, did not abraid the hand and due to the reduced size neck on the backstrap a very comfortable and high purchase was acheivable.

The slide, though easy to grip in many places, asthetically reminds me of the Walther PPX. I own 3 PPXs and though is racks easy, feels great in hand and has a very smooth trigger, its one ugly son of a bitch. Why do I own three then? Cuz the only cost $269/each and function beats form for me when it comes down to either/or.

I must give it to Beretta though. For all the new striker fire guns coming to market, they really have made a gallant effort to incorporate many modifications as factory offerings that many customers would make to their guns after purchasing. A great deal of thought went in to this piece no doubt, however a few things, the trigger in particular, could have been excuted a little better.

The PPQ still reigns suppreme in factory triggers from my observations.

So is the APX better than a bone stock Glock? Probably (I'm an ardent Glock supporter). But can a Glock be modified to outperform the APX? Also, probable. On the other hand, if we are talking about out of the box value, The APX is a better choice. I personally love the look of the slide serrations, but won't be buying one since I already have 3 bulky slide guns...with a better trigger...for almost half the price.

The gun to look out for is the new FN 509.....

From all reports it's an extremely flat and soft shooting piece.

If they come with 4 mags from the factory, that's gravy.

Also has a really nice trigger for a striker fired pistol.

Never shot one, but I got to handle one at my LGS. I thought the slide was ugly until I got to handle it. Hands on, I can say that it's really easy to rack the slide anywhere you grab it. itand as

FWIW, they do look better in person, but still 'boxy'.
I have a few Berretta hammer-fired's and I like them all.
Not really a striker guy, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with my PPQ either.
Still, I'm just not 'feeling it' as far as the APX goes,,,

This was Beretta's entry into the XM17 competition which they lost to SIG Sauer (P320 variant). From what I've read -- but have no way to confirm, of course -- our military wasn't going to give serious consideration to anything Beretta was offering because of some negative experiences over the years with the M9. My personal experience with Beretta has always been good, so I'd love to give this new one a try. Gotta pick up a new P320 first, though :-)

Almost looks like it belongs in the toy section of Walmart to me. Really want to see, hold, shoot one though. Not been impressed w/Beretta personally but if this was going to be the future sidearm of the USA military it either must have something going for it (perhaps great lobbyists) or it could be a FUBAR. W/proven beasts like new Glock 21 Gen3 for <$400 and 19 Gen4's showing up for <$500 it'd have to be pretty special to justify that price.

Yet ANOTHER striker fired polymer 9 mike-mike. "Modular, crisp break, short reset, trigger safety, low bore axis..." blah, blah, blah! How many Tupperware Glock/M&P/FN/H&K/SIG/XD clones can humanity endure? Who on gun.deals doesn't already have a first cousin to this thing in his safe? When is somebody going to invent something truly new? I'm bored to tears just looking at the thing. Sheesh.

You never hear, "Yet ANOTHER hammer-fired gun", but for some reason striker-fired are held to some lofty standard of offering something revolutionary or they shouldn't exist. I'm so goddamn tired of hearing people complain about additional choices.

Yes, isn’t it awful having so many choices of reliable, accurate handgun systems at increasingly affordable prices. Woe is me. Guess we’ll just have to deal with it until someone harnesses Directed Energy in a cheap, portable package, and we’ll all have CC death rays.

Could I buy 2 $200 Botach Gift cards for $170 each and 1 $100 Botach gift card for $90 and essentially get this gun for $455? Or is there limited use with the gift cards?

0 votes
0 votes

Before I basically quit doing business w/BoT, I've bought gift cards and used later to purchase firearms with no problems (except the usual BoT stuff -never know if you're actually going to receive order, weeks/months in processing, good luck w/refunds, etc...) so if you're a patient gambler you might save a few bucks. I haven't heard much about this gun yet but given the times and the abundance of inventory in this category (unless it shoots laser beams) I fully expect to see it on sale fairly quickly. Competition is good!
