Functional but not the prettiest upper I've used. Anodizing has a few blems. Some rough edges and tooling marks outside. Several dings in the material before anodizing. Inside looks fairly clean. First stripped Bear Creek upper receiver I've used. Based on this example, I think Anderson MFG. does a better job for the money.

I received this stripped upper that I purchased for $25.99+tax+shipping. It looks perfect, the finish is black and uniform and it came well packaged.

Anybody have any real experience with these? I know i've had issues with bear creek stuff in the past... also, most of the anodizing on other upper recievers from lower end brands (anderson, etc) is off a lot when i'm trying to match them with different lowers. My gun always ends up with a two tone black, which i'm not a huge fan of.

Mine was a deep black, however it had a couple spots that were dark brown where it looked like it was touching something in the anodizing tank. Personally, I would choose Anderson over BCA. Anderson's annodizing may vary in color from batch to batch, but it is more uniform across the part and their machining is much cleaner than BCA in my experience.

But a can of Duracoat aerosol. The stuff works great

In my experience the finish not matching has nothing to do with the quality of the brand. They're just different from one brand to another. I bought a BCA 7.62x39 upper half and mated it to a Tactical Machining 7.62x39 marked lower. The finish happened to match perfectly and it runs 100%. I even put the BCA upper half on my M16A1 lower and it runs 100%. Of course that's only a sample size of one, so I wouldn't draw any broad conclusions based on my experience.
