I ordered a 10.5 inch m4 barrel got it in last week they sent me a heavy barrel and im building a lightweight SBR well I was angry but im in no rush to build it I called them they answered the phone on the second ring I told them what happened, they email me a next day shipping label. yes shipping is pricy but they double package the barrel so the extra money didn't bother me I will update when I get to shooting it. But overall still a good deal with great customer service...

They want $19 bucks just to ship a barrel. The barrel weighs less than 2 lbs... Obviously this is part of their profit strategy on selling such a cheap barrel. Still a fair deal, but sneaky tactics like this turns me off..

Look, their prices may be great but their shipping is S-L-O-W. They have great customer service by email but no one will answer the phone. For instance, I ordered a barrel on 05/06/2014, they printed the label on 05/09/2014 but no product has gone out as of yet. Tried to call several times and the machine just keeps telling me to call back. if they are doing that much volume and charging FULL retail for shipping then they should consider that they need more assistance in the shipping department. You can provide many excuses for the problem but until it is fixed, I consider it poor customer service. I mean the charge has already hit my account, they have my money already, my products should be shipped by now. Anyway, there is my two cents worth.

Got two of these barrels right in front of my keyboard. I'll try to answer some questions posted. As I haven't installed them yet, haven't had a chance to check headspace but looking at the rest of it, that's a toss-up imho. Finish is excellent, but I wish it had been where they cheaped out, rifling on both barrels is so shallow it's like someone drew it in with tiny markers. What I don't understand is if they bought blanks, why would they bother finishing them into barrels if the rifling is so insufficient, but then, they probably bought the blanks as defects or did the broaching themselves.

TL;DR: Yes, these are barrels for $70, and yes, they are worth about $70, and if you're not building a gun for someone you dislike, you'll wish you had paid $140 for a still-cheap barrel from somewhere else.

Honest review...Trolls need not apply! Bought 2 of these $158.67 shipped to Ca and were in my hands 5 days after my order. Priority Mail double packed in bubble wrap. I checked both under bright light, Mitutoyo caliper, gage pins and using a workbench magnifier lamp. The finish was even and seems to be well done. Overall no rough edges, machine marks or other issues. The gas port measures .068, gas block area is .750 to .751, chamber is smooth, rifling looks good (no chatter marks), crown is clean and centered, M4 ramps line up with a Spikes and JoeBobs Cerro forge uppers. The barrel extension (without nut) is snug in the Spikes and slightly loose in the JoeBobs (both about the norm). The barrels are marked .223 Wylde 1:9 USA.
I have built over 50 AR uppers and have seen alot of good and bad. These look like a good value and are better than or equal to the PTAC barrels I have worked on. I built both and there were no issues. The negative reviews seem to be more internet FUD or from the must cost the most to be good crowd. This would make a good low cost utility build. Would it be a good SHTF build? If its what you can afford, yup!

Range report!!! Put 10 boxes of a mix of Tula (Herters) 62gr and Fed 55gr 223 through one of the uppers. To my surprise it ate Tula. I used an AIM NIB bolt carrier group $99 and a Joe Bobs upper $60. Put a cheap Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on it $50. Monday, 90 degrees, 5 mph wind, sighted in at 100yds, best 5rd groups with Fed were 3" and Tula were 4". The red dot is 4moa, so its hard to do a bunch better. I will drop a low end 3x9 on it and my handloads in the next week or so to see what it will really do.
I have a bunch of that Herters .223 and my DD upper (factory build) sticks every other case. My Spikes barrel middy (my build) will fire 200 or so, before a case sticking. The Bear Creek barrel ate 99 of 100 with only 1 FTE at around shot #70. The Fed was 100%.

Trolls be vanquished! Great review. Do you have the capability to check the hardness and type of barrel material? Too, are you able to chuck it up in a collet to check to concentricity and alignment of the extension as well as straightness of the barrel?
I am a machinist, but not a member of the "I (over) paid for my equipment so I could brag yours is not as good as mine" club. Just two things left to add: First a range report for 50-250 yards and once again saying "Great review!"

When no one else is selling barrels at $69.99, that should be enough to tell you to stay away. I have built 100's of AR's over the years, you really do get what you pay for. Do not cheap out on barrels or optics. No need to go high end or low end, plenty of quality in the middle that will perform flawlessly for years.

There isn't a .223 barrel in existence that cost more than $69.99 to make, that's materials and labor. So when you pay $400 for a boutique barrel you're getting stroked and jerked with a razor blade mitten. Straight skinned I'm telling ya. Bloody RAAAAWWWWWW.

This entire industry has exploded due to profits from skinning fools, ie NOT getting what you're paying for. Why do you think everyone and their brother is mortgaging the house for a CNC machine to produce unfinished 80% lowers? --The ABSOLUTE PINNACLE of not getting what you pay for... Right there along with the colon crushing $199 Geissele .308 Reaction Rod (AKA the stiff one) or just about anything Rapeveske.

I believe what you say with optics, buy once cry once... At least there you can SEE a difference... but $250 triggers or an inch difference at 500 yards because of a supposed super barrel at 300% mark up??? Knee Grow Please.

Are they at least worth $69? Can you please post a link to some photos of yours? I ordered one that should be here tomorrow or Monday and if fine I was planning on ordering a bunch more. Are your two both messed up in the same way or is the quality all over the place?

about 1 post away from unsubscribing. Slickgunners, please stick to the topic. I want to see posts about quality, results at the range. Not name calling and condescending banter.

I took a chance. The order is still processing. I'll try to post an update once I receive the barrel.

Regardless of manufacturer, for 85$ Shipped this makes it the cheapest barrel I've seen in a long time.

Well I can fully say that the barrel was worth it so far, no issues, no marks, nice packaging (big usps box), and encased in bubble wrap. Good tight fit, no marks in the barrel, gas port drilled nice (no burring), crown looks centered and threads were good on the barrel. Only thing was that there was some oil in the barrel, but other than that looks great.

Probably going to get it to the range next week.

Got my barrel. UPS looked like they punted the box around during lunch hour. Good thing the barrels were wrapped indivdidually and also had the chineese finger trap plastic wrap. Barrels are stamped 223 Wylde 1:9 USA. The finish seems very good. M4 feedramp extension. Time will tell as far as accuracy but initial reactions are Good. Much nicer looking than the SG barrels.

ya and the condition of the last "mossberg" Sportsman's guide barrel I received was not like a previous order. Much more cosmetic blemishes right out of the wrapper on the second sample I received from SG. For this price, I'll give it a whirl.

Also, I wish I could still get the mossberg Melonited 1/7" barrel for 100 bucks from AIM Surplus but haven't seen that since Christmas.

Used to be Moore Machine, guess changing their name will make people forget the crappy AR's they sold...

Yes, but how are the barrels? They must receive rifled blanks and machine them so are you saying they headspace bad? Gas port is drilled oversize? Do you have anything to contribute regarding the barrels, themselves?

Newmex,

I have no personal experience with these guys but here's the thread from yesterday. It may better help you come to an educated decision. Just keep in mind that that PDB guy in the link, is at best a clueless meathead with an IQ a little lower than a grape popsicle.

https://gun.deals/product/ar-15-rifle-223-556-nato-caliber-semi-auto-flat-top-rifle-w-m4-conture-barrel-30-round-mag-a...

My advise I'll leave at this;. Go to any gun shop that was out of AR rifles 6 months ago and you'll notice racks and racks of them now for sale. If you go to Walmart, most stores have multiple 5.56 ammo cans now sitting waiting on buyers. Those are a clear sign that the great panic buying of 2012/2013 has mostly run it's course. (well until the next lunatic goes on a killing spree, and we still have a Decepticon socialist anti gun president sitting in the oval office)

It's a buyers market right now & the deals are coming faster than a 10gr bullet launches out of a 5.56 barrel.

Do a quick search for Moore Machine AR barrels. Their work was bad enough that they changed their name. Maybe they got their stuff together and trying to get past the terrible reviews they had before, maybe not. I know I don't have enough $$$ lying around to risk a bad one, but I can come up with enough to buy one from a reputable company for $113-$130 so why not stick with places I know I'll get a great barrel from..

I've done more than a quick search. Everything comes back from 3 or 4 years ago. Even the current posts only reference "I heard MMC sucks ass, so you better stay away!" or "my nephew's uncle's sister's compadre's brother-in-law has one and it sucks!"

My question is this: "does yours headspace ok? Is the gas port in spec? Are the threads messed up? @mogunner: What problems does YOUR barrel have?

As for the price, I was asked to help a local youth shooting club get some additional equipment. They have $8k to spend and want to see if they can add 20 rifles. Barrels at $130 would mean $2,600 instead of $1,400 or an additional $1,200 expense. You wanna tell they kids they got short changed?

Sounds like you have a financial investment in Moore Machine, or possibly Classic Arms to me...

Hopefully, all your barrels arrive in perfect shape with all the machining and finish work done immaculately. Hopefully, the Moore's have hired actual machinists by now. Hopefully, by now they have learned how to manufacture firearm barrels. Hopefully these are better than the $99 Mossberb barrels that newbs bought in droves. I'd buy a barrel from the guy selling them on ebay before buying from a company with such a bad rep that they had to change their name...

Sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about. Do you have any idea how far Albuquerque is from North Carolina? Financial investment??? In my entire life I have purchased three items from Classic. Why am I interested in these? They are $69, you troll. If I was pushing a vendor selling them for $200 then the sounds in your head may make sense.

Did you even read my post? It really sounds like to me, you don't even own one of these. In other words, your comments are NOT helpful. Oh well, another useless contributor pretending to have first hand knowledge about firearms yet not owning anything.

TROLLgunner would be a more appropriate handle.

ICE Arms still sells out, and they acknowledged to have put out defective barrels... I didn't see an attempt to fix those already out the door either. No need to go to eBay or Mossberg to get a shoddy barrel :-(
