I ordered one on June 6th. On July 30th I was told my order was canceled due to an internal error and to order again. I placed another order and am still waiting.

I received my order last week. I was told that the last month of shipping delays occurred because the NCStar carrier color chosen was out of stock and they were waiting for more to arrive even though the shipping label was created. The plates have a "made on" date in the last two to weeks. I'm happy with the quality for the price, but taking over 5 months to get an order is extreme.

Waited 3 months for a response, then I cancelled my order. Beware...

Strange how you lack the ability to use the reply button....could it be prepubescent hormones affecting your ability to reason ?
Why yes, I think it is.

Seems to be pretty normal these days. Even Natchez took a month to get me my Lil P prism optic.

I ordered 2 weeks ago. They said it was in stock... and now they say they have shipped... but FedEx says they only generated a label.
Customer service is not amazing. Product quality still totally unknown.

The tan version I ordered was OOS so I got the black one. It's light, comfy, and yes has a 5 yr lifespan. But mine is a year old as shipped. Loud velcro but fits. Worth $100 for a little peace of mind plinking.

It's more likely someone bought the real one from Botach, took the real one and replace with the airsoft fake, and you got the fake one that was a 'return.'

Or you're lying. One of the two.

Just ordered one. For the price it should be Ok....

Admittedly, I think of door-kickers and persons who live in compounds in northern Idaho when I think of body armor...but your comments regarding post-disaster scenarios make sense to me. Thanks again!

Hey leave us Idahoans out of this! lol

ElCero,

I live in Florida, while I don't consider myself a prepper per say, and I agree that living in a fortified compound in Idaho is a bit out there, but I will say that being prepared is never a bad thing.

Being a Floridian, hurricanes are a concern, as are the aftermaths, I have mitigated my risks, I installed 12mil hurricane/security film to all my windows, 9 years ago when I was home shopping, the home had to meet some basic standards.

It had to be stucco over concrete and the roof had to be fairly new with hurricane clips. My garage door I strengthened and I now have a pretty solid home.

While I live in a really nice, relatively safe area. Hurricane Katrina clearly showed me that bad people lurk in the shadows simply waiting for opportunity. I'm not trying to be political, but take Black Lives Matters for example. Why is it so many of their protests end up with Wal Marts being looted? It's because many of them are opportunists.
They demand change by others, but they ignore their root problems like black on black crime. It's ridiculous as all lives matter. But when you have a president and A holes like George Soros perpetuating bad behavior, it will only get worse.

Being prepared for violence, looters and hurricanes is always a good idea. A few years back an home invader decided to pay me a visit, being prepared saved the day.

I own better body armor than the armor I was issued in my military service, A LOT BETTER.

I pray that it gathers dust and is never needed, but the fact is, just a few bad people given the right opportunity can cause a lot of grief. With Hurricane Katrina, police were afraid to patrol. Look at Baltimore, just a few months ago the Mayor ordered ALL POLICE to stand down and let the city riot. LEO's were forced to watch car jacking and such right in front of them. During events like that you need to protect you and yours.

While I respect and appreciate the police, they simply cannot be everywhere at the onset of chaos and violence.

That why terrorism is so effective, one person can shut down a city, imagine what a few dozen could do if coordinated.

I'd rather be considered strange for owning body armor than end up being a statistic in a body bag. ...either way I pray for peace

When people who look more like you "loot", the media that you probably call "fake news" says they're searching for food. But in the end, they're looking too. Don't pick and choose what you want to believe from the media buddy boy.

Please dude..90% of the looters are black or Hispanic. That’s a fact.

That belief comes from the FACT that 8 out of 10 minorities get convicted of their crime while 2 out of 10 whites get convicted for the same crime when charged, proven time and again an inherent bias in the system. [Freakonomics 2009]

Dylan Roof was provided a meal at Burger King by police after killing 9 - rationalize that how you want!

The population is 72% white and that proportion also carries, more or less, as how many are poor...and same for crime.

I'd wager big fat dollars that you would not have the nads to take a drive with me, thru Compton California, or Paramount California, at night, doors unlocked, windows wide open.
I don't care if you're black or white, or green.
They are mesmerized by the whole gang ideal and strive for "street cred". Do you think your ideals or religion will save your narrow ass ?
Nancy Pelosi and Obummer won't save you either.

Where do I collect my fat dollars from this internet tough guy ..not to rub my junk in yer face but....

In 2003, I lived off Redondo Beach Blvd and worked in Compton. It's exactly like the scumbags portray Chicago; like it's a war zone. It's not! Ditto Compton. If you go looking for trouble, you're in the right place but if not and yr not a punk, no one cares and no one bothers anyone else.

Amen Gunsgunsguns I applaud your response to an ignorant comment. Although, I believe Crabby Sam is dead on with most of his comments and that he meant no harm. He took the Black Lives commets to far. Which says a lot coming from me being that I don't support the BLM movement.

I remember during Hurricane Katrina Fox News got called out for describing a white guy's actions as "searching for food" exiting an abandoned store with a cart full of groceries but later they decided a black dude holding a loaf of bread was a "looter."

Everyone has different thought processes, I know. To some people owning body armor makes them think a person is an aspiring terrorist or cop killer.

I'm curious...who is buying this? I like guns and love going to the range, but I honestly can't figure out why people would be buying this. I think that if you're in a job that requires body armor (police, security, etc) that it would be purchased by your employer. Am I mistaken?

Why buy a fire extinguisher?

I never thought about buying a ballistic vest, but now I'm considering it. I wouldn't necessarily be buying one in preparation for any type of national disaster, but I figure that in the case of a break-in, I would much rather be wearing a ballistic vest if I had to confront an intruder who would most likely have a gun.

Because if shit goes down it will be pretty hard to buy this after or during the event. Do you buy a spare tire AFTER getting a flat? A civil war or Red Dawn invasion is not likely (but possible) however events like Katrina should have proved to the world how weak some Americans are and how quickly they can turn to animals after being deprived of things other nations might consider "comforts." Also, with terrorism increasing and growing support for Nationalists who think taking over federal buildings and threatening to kill FBI agents is a proper reaction to their cows not being allowed to eat government grass for free, I personally do not think we are on course for calmer waters anytime soon regardless of who wins the election. I for one would rather have a set of body armor go unused for the price of a couple of nice meals at a decent restaurant. Neither I can take with me to the next life but at least one of the two will not be flushed 8 hours later.

Well, a civil war [technically, 2nd revolutionary war] keeps getting more likely as the Anti-civil rights promoters continue undermining the 2nd. As soon as the 2nd is gone, the 1st will follow & then the rest. The time to start voting from rooftops is getting closer all the time, & 3a ain't gonna cut it... :-(

I will never order from botach ever again! Ordered a stock for Glock that try claimed was by Fab defence. Came in a piece of horse dropping. Wiggly-wobbly, missing all correct Fab markings (I actually own the real one made in Israel, so I know what it should look like and how it should work). And it did not fit into G17 handle. Tried to get an RMA, etc. long story short - only after getting my CC involved I was able to get the refund. Even then they tried to charge my card again for S&H. Total BS company.

Received reply from Botach about heat. I asked if this rig could be kept in a vehicle during summer conditions. Answer was yes and it has a 5 year warranty. That is all that was said.

Possible solution, to get something lighter to keep in vehicle, get Botach's hard polyethylene armor with a III+ rating,3.5 lbs. each, and put the kevlar you already have behind it. Around 10 lbs. total armor weight, front and back. If the poly isn't what it's claimed to be, maybe with the kevlar behind it,it will still be good against rifle ammo.

Absolutely! And free shipping on the replacement! The resulting lawsuit might get them enough for a trip to Disney World. Might! FYI, I came across some interesting stuff on eBay in body armor, cheap steel, etc.

Regarding heat and polyethylene body armor, the more I read, the more I find about testing that shows it can take the temperatures you're likely to encounter in a car and more. There is just so much crap on the internet about anything. Way too many "experts".Do your on research and then do some more...and some more. And as I always say, I don't know nuthun bout nuthin...and neither do most folks!

I wish there were more real info about polyethylene armor and maybe videos of people testing it. On my order I asked Botach if they would send me a defective or damaged panel so I could make a review of the kit including being shot from varying distances and calibers (and give them a nice plug on YouTube for both their Website and armor brand) but they replied they didn't have any spare panels. I was kinda bummed but their reply was not unexpected. It would be cool to do a review of two panels from the same kit, one being shot at without exposure and one being left in a truck or car's truck for a year and do follow up testing.

You COULD always gather 260 people to each pitch in $1.00 for your aforementioned project. I'm in for a buck. Now you just need 258 more...

I emailed Botach today asking for info about the heat tolerance of this rig. Will post what I get. The above ad says" Designed and packaged to be carried anywhere". Ain't woids woindifoil?!

Received mine today (7/9) and seems well made. The carrier looks pretty tough to but not something you would wear as a cop 40-50 hours a week. The material is a nylon stitching similar to what you would find on a decent quality backpack meant for a student except doubled up and maybe a thin padding in between. The plates from the photos look rigid however they do bend a bit. Not as soft as kevlar but not so hard so you would get poked with a corner when bending over or reaching down. Front plate is a shooter's cut and the rear is rectangular. They do have the typical sticker showing the armor protection rating and date of manufacture (mine say 6/17/2016) and the tag says that 'Black Steel is a division of Botach Inc."

Note, I assumed from the photos on the site it came with a carry bag but it does NOT. Not a big deal to me however I was expecting a carrying case.

Got mine too, like it. As you said, the panels are more rigid than kevlar so I think it will deal with the blunt force trauma thing better.I'm actually going to put it behind a kevlar panel for that purpose. Stopping a bullet is great but I would prefer no broken bones, etc. too.
Also like the carrier because it is adjustable over a wide range. Put it on a 5 foot, 120 lb. female and was able to fit it perfectly. Lots of velcro. The panels and carrier feel like they weigh nothing when worn and not bulky.Think this is just about a perfect setup for home use. If the polyethylene just didn't have the heat problem, but for stay at home , it's hard to beat.

Yeah the only downfall is the heat tolerance, the reason I gravitated to this was for carrying in a vehicle but for the price I jumped on it anyway. Super light and thin enough to be concealable under a hoodie.

Just got off the phone with botach CS about an order I placed on 6/15 for some e-lander 20 rd steel AR mags. They said they are in the process of moving and are experiencing slower than normal shipping times, but they should have all orders sent out in the next 7 days...

I actually didn't order these plates I ordered the stand alone ballistic NIJ 3+ plates.

I just check and it finally got picked up by ups. Says coming out of Nevada. The label was printed on the 17th. I'm surprised you were able to get a reply. Now my only worry is, the package says 5lbs. The plates are each 3.5 lbs. I ordered the level 3+ ballistic package with the other carrier for $299. I will update when the package arrives.

Regarding the lead times It is also possible they were expecting a delivery of these things are basically started taking preorders without admitting such or like Porkman said it could be because of their move. My order label was printed 6/28 with no scans from ups yet.

You won't receive them. They'll send you a fake tracking number for UPS and the package will never get picked up your UPS. If you inquire, they'll not respond and they do not answer their phone.

For what it's worth, I received email on 24th that my order had shipped with a tracking number given. Checked UPS yesterday and package was still at Botach. Emailed Botach last night and got reply today that they were behind on shipping. Just checked UPS and it had been picked up about 2 hours ago. Maybe there's still hope BooCocky!

More than likely they generate a ups label automatically once the order runs through their system then there is a delay in someone actually picking and shipping the item. Not exactly a new "problem" with smaller online retailers. Palmetto State Armory does this every fucking order and doesn't return emails either.

Yes, I filed a dispute and are still waiting for a response. I think they have about 6 days left to respond. As soon as I get my money back I'm going to buy the AR500 plates. I wanted these because they're light. The AR500 plates are around 9 lbs each.
