Watched these for several yrs heard all the bullshit but decided to find out for myself glad I did, after a few initial kinks she smoothed out and has been a very nice loaner rifle for me and my friends I have a few others so this one sees alot of action in inexperienced hands it hasn't disappointed keep it lubed and clean no problems

Yup, I use a PSA for a loaner for friends and family - I have no doubt these are just as good!

Relatively new to AR's, have had one for about 3 yrs. i now own 3 but I have never had a problem with the gas system on any of them.
A lot of guys are saying the ATI has gas system problems. My question is, is this a bitch to fix, or can a guy with a basic knowledge of firearms tackle the problem if needed?

They install a plastic roll pin to hold the gas tube in the gas block from the factory. The gas tube will become loose and slide forward rendering your rifle a single shot. That's the only problem with the gas system I've experienced. Easy to replace.

Have had mine for almost 3 years....no ftf fte...about 1000 rounds of mixed fiocchi and steel case tulammo. I do t see what the big deal is on people saying they are junk. I guess q/c isn't so great but overall no complaints from me. Will be free floating the barrel soon for added accuracy

Have they got the gas system problems worked out on these anybody. Bought one lately still curious want to like these but......

I bought one 4 months ago.
Shot 25 rounds and it quit cycling. Gas tube was installed incorrectly. Sent it back, the ATI replaced gas block and tube, but replied in their letter back to me that nothing was wrong with it( all in CAPITAL LETTERS) Rifle works now but bolt is very hard to charge after their repair job.
I wasn't expecting much for the price I paid for this rifle so I wasn't too disappointed. I've repaired the rifle myself and have not had any further issues as long as I feed it quality ammo.
Does not like reloads at all.
I would buy another one. Simple repair and even after spending a little money on it it's still way cheaper than those expensive competitors .

At this price, 324, its a deal even if you have to rework the gas system.

0 votes
0 votes

Really? A good deal if you have to re-work the system that makes the entire thing function? Good luck.

The only problem with the gas system is that they use a plastic roll pin to hold the tube in the gas block. It doesn't hold well. I don't understand their logic with this but its an easy fix.

Yes , 324 is a good price for a AR. Just a question " Do you void the warranty when someone besides ATI works on the rifle to that degree?"

Done with this Baby

What more can be said. Except Crap. Can't wait for the next deal. Moving on....

You show me a 800 pound forklift and I'll buy 10 of these. Farm and home supply won't even warranty these gems. Sorry, don't shoot the messenger.. If you can get this one to work..

Yeah, most forklifts weigh well over 7000 lbs.

I purchased mine in July 2017. And after 100 rounds of break-in and 2 FTF. Only ever shot steel out of them. It was fine after with no FTF anymore. Now it's at around 2,000 rounds and still kicking. My buddy and I were mag dumping before he left for deployment again and his dpms got stuck and low and behold, we forgot the all thread and cleaning kit. So we we're only mag dumping out of my ati. And no jam whatsoever.

So I think we can assume that's it's a lottery when you get a good or a bad ati.

Agree on lottery

Went to a big box sporting goods today. Saw one and looked it over. Actually looked really nice. Clerk voluntered that ATI was the only AR they had to send back. Price 699.99. Not a typo 699.00.

Thank You !

Thanks for the input on the ATI AR . Seems the gas systems don't make it out of the Factory correctly installed. It also appears to be a common issue. I really am sorry that you guys got lemons. Never should have happened.

Why can customers , in general, go buy a fridge , bring it home, plug it in and done. Seems a real shame some GUN makers can't do the same. A Gun is a whole lot more dangerous than a fridge with less of Quality Control checking being done. Ah, but I digress and compare apples and oranges - or do I?

Bought one for a friend as a gift and it wouldn’t cycle out of the box. Took it to a gunsmith who also said the gas system was a mess. He got it fixed though and there haven’t been anymore problems.

Mixed bag on these. I have seen good reviews and bad reviews. Videos seem mostly good. ATI has done mfg changes, upgrades etc. since intro of the guns years back. Most of what I find for info stops at 2014. So the question is " How do the 2017 guns run?" I look for the facts of what Owners have experienced with the latest run. I have no doubts the older models were very much a problem. Educate me - please. Thanks

Mine is the perfect hybrid, all right - half crap and half shit. Wouldn't function straight out of the box, new.
Customer service was incredibly fast, but said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They stated that they made some adjustments to the gas system and fired some test rounds. When it arrived 'repaied,' it still wouldn't chamber a second round. I tried every combination of 5.56, .223, brass, srell, 55 and 62 gr. I took it to an actual gunsmith, and he said the gas system was all jacked -up. He told me about a cheap/weak repair job that he would do that would work for a while. It runs now, but I'm stuck with something I wouldn't bet my life on, and wouldn't feel right selling to someone else. Woo-hoo!

Final update. Bought a rock -bottom Davidson Defense. 223 stainless Wylde upper (found here on Gundeals ) for $159 delivered. The combo of the two, about 1k rounds in, brass and steel, without ANY problems. The lower has convinced me that a polymer lower is not so bad...

Forget about the fact it runs a poly lower, the biggest concern is the UPPER is polymer. This should honestly be around $200. I personally watched one of these break into several pieces while it was being fired, luckily the shooter wasn't injured.

I paid $329.88 + 45 for my FLL.

I used the sportsman buyers club + discount.

It's my first AR...hopeful to find a solid budget optic and forward budget grip.

$45 for your FFL that's crazy! My gun charges $10 flat fee every time! granite I'm in there 2-3xs per week but still don't matter if your a repeat or new customer always charges same price and I respect that

He only place I’ve found is a pawn shop that does 25 for the first gun and only 10 for the second and 5 for anymore if you buy same time.

you can make a complete anderson lower with stock kit for $102 in about 5 minutes just get the $72 lower from sg and a $30 stock buffer kit. then get a complete upper with bcg and ch. ( maybe even 7.62x39?) ($200-300 depending on options) and a mag. $10.... now you have alluminum lower complete AR for under $315

I get stripped lowers anywhere from $27-$55 but $72?? Fuck that! SG sucks and price gouge and never get to giving you your order I know because it's happened to me and a LOT of others ... you've been warned

I just built 2 complete aluminum Lower AR's for $309 each, 2 Anderson stripped lowers $50 each Plus $259 for complete kit from Ceratc= $309 including all shipping and FFL fees. Very nice railed upper... https://www.ceratac.com/80-Kit-Carbine-Classic-Anodized-Builder-p/kit-556-c-ck-u-blk.htm...

The lower is polymer... Anderson and bear creek m4 style guns are at $400 and you get an aluminum lower. To each their own. I'm kind of sick of ARs now and am waiting for AKs to get down to $450

Ehhh...I vote democratic...and I definitely enjoy shooting. Democrats do not take away your guns, but the gun industry sure does make a pretty penny in making you think so.

I love it though. I buy guns cheap when republicans are in office and I sell them for a profit right before the democrats get back...even though they didn't change any of the laws lol.

You're right about them not really having been able to at a national level, but look at the laws in leftist strongholds (NYC, Chicago, California). They have made it difficult to acquire firearms and put heavy restrictions on them. Let's not be disingenuous - they would ban them nationally if they could. I agree that prices irrationally fluctuate based on fear and not natural market forces, though.
