I’m looking to purchase my first AR15, is this any good or is the S&W M&P15 Sport 2 better? SOSS has the M&P15 with crimson trace red/green dot optic for $599.

Get the s&w, don't buy poly uppers for full price. The m&p is a solid entry gun, and that price with a crimson is a great deal, especially if it has a float rail.

Thanks for your input. Been looking to get the S&W but scared to pull the trigger on it. SOSS have that deal with the crimson optic or S&W with the magpul M-LOK Hand guard and MBUS rear sight. Both comes with S&W soft rifle case for $599.

Seriously, it's a solid platform and that's a great deal for the crimson package, especially with all the bs going on. Mbus can be had fairly cheap. It has an average trigger, but shop around for what you want later. Sorry not sorry I helped set you along this path.

I got the crimson package plus I added 30rd and 40rd pmag gen m3 with it. Total $658 out the door plus $20 local FFL fee= $678. Well now I gotta think of something to tell the wife when I come home with it next week....”gun deal made me do it!”

She can't smack me through the internet, so I'll go ahead and take the blame.

You're going to be gtg out of the box, but like I said consider a trigger upgrade. I personally haven't upgraded it on my sport, but I'm trying to leave it as stock as possible. If you've got range buddies, see what they're packing and if you can try it out. I'm personally not a fan of single stage in a .556, but you may like it.

Also consider the cmmg .22lr drop in conversion kit. It's great for cheap training, just have to make sure to run it well lubed, as it can be a bit picky with ammo.

If you're hooked I'd suggest 300blk upper next, followed by a pcc. Pistol build are by far my favorite.

Yes a new trigger! You could also get some JP trigger springs along with polishing it yourself and that’ll result in smoothing and lightening the pull
