This isn't the real price they wanted to tack on a random $15 gun purchase charge. What is this an FFL outbound charge?

Are these barrels threaded or is it an insert like the Ruger sr22? I'm assuming there are adapters for 1/2x28?

0 votes
0 votes

Yeah they are threaded. It's the weird one though (metric m9 x .75)
I found adapters selling on ebay for around 20 bucks.

And they always seem to be out of the ammo you actually want. Then you just spent $50 to shop elsewhere. Not a good deal.

Not had any major issues with mine. A couple (under 5) failures here and there with cheap ass bulk ammo and a drity pistol but with good ammo, the right spring and clean gun it's been great. Run about 700 rounds or so.

I purchased one of these due to the cheaper price and the threaded barrel. I have 5 different magazines and have fired multiple types of ammo including CCI Mini Mags, Browning BPR 40GR Round Nose, Winchester 36GR Copper Plated Hollow Points, and the terrible Remington .22 Thunderbolt. I've probably fired a few hundred rounds of each type, and I've only had 1 failure to eject and 1 failure to fire with the Rem. Thunderbolt ammo.

Neither myself or others shooting it have had accuracy issues, it's accurate out to 50ft (furthest I've bothered shooting it). All of my magazines have functioned perfectly as well. I don't know if some people have had bad experiences with old models, not cleaned or properly cared for their gun, or are just snobs who think that this gun is trash based on its price point, but as an owner of this handgun I've had a great time shooting it and will continue to enjoy it.

I bought one two weeks ago and just sold it today. It was reliable enough but the trigger is poor and its just not an accurate pistol like my Colt 1911-22 and my Beretta M9-22. I only bought it because it was suppressor ready but that just wasn't enough to keep it. YMMV.

I've owned both a SIG and a Firefly and they were both junk. I don't think I ever made it through a full magazine with out a failure of one kind or another. Tried every trick posted on multiple forums, sent them back for repairs, replaced parts and they continued to fail. Ditched the both for better 22's.

This debate good/bad gun seems to go on forever. I have other guns I would be glad to diss. The revered Kahr one of them. This Firefly is good- from experience.

Let put a new view on this and I stop commenting on this one. All mfgs who outsource parts or products TELL the outsourcing party what they want. The parts should be this or that, produced this way or that , made of this or that. It is all spelled out in a contract and they follow the contract .

So if the Sig model was a problem blame Sig. They called the requirements.

Now GSG is doing this on their own. Their specs , their process, their name on the gun. I will bet that GSG has ironed out the bugs. Mine seem to prove that. As far as I am concerned we are comparing Apples to Oranges.

I agree, these people are comparing a less than 200 dollar pistol with 250-500 dollar pistol. Have you tried running it with a suppressor to see how it does?

About $175 overpriced.

1 vote
1 vote

Why do you say that? I've seen the older versions with their buggy performance, but they are the equivalent to the Sig Sauer Mosquito today in everyway. I paid $220 for one at Sportsman's Warehouse and it's great.

I've noticed that many people like to comment that have never owned or never fired the weapon they leave a negative comment about

Yep. Just ask that idiot 'rla0001'. He was commenting crap on a Taurus pistol. Never even held the model in the post, and sure hasn't shot or owned one. He also thought Glock mod 4 was put out only a few months ago in a post he made late last year. Funny, I have had my Glock 21 for at least three years! Not the smartest of kids...

Don't Understand the negative reviews. Yes this looks like a Sig but I don't know if GSG, the real mfg, made improvements when Sig no longer marketed them. All I can say is MY experience has been very good. FTF, FTE any of that stuff never happened to the two I have which were new out of the box. I will tell you that the HV spring and standard spring are no longer two different items. In spite of the claim, in the manual, and you getting two they are one and the same. Just one is a spare/replacement should you need it. Also you get three front sights and what is on the gun is the highest , low shooting, sight. Yes the manual says it is mounted with the middle one- but again it is not. Guess they didn't want to print a whole new manual. You can check this out by calling GSG , at least about the springs, even the support folks did not know about the front sight issue. All , in all , small points. The gun runs great.

I was told at Sportsman's Warehouse they (German Sport Guns) have ironed out the bugs. Mine is absolutely awesome. While deciding which one to buy I actually handled and thoroughly examined both pistols, the GSG Firefly and the Sig Sauer Mosquito. They were nearly identical with the exception of the sights. I paid $50 more, but have no regrets. It's a great pistol.

This to me looks like Sig Sauer Mosquito Sport with 1 inch shorter barrel. Which I just sold for bargain. The gun could not shoot couple magazines without jamming. And I shoot 1240 fps ammo which is pretty decent velocity. I also have Sig Sauer P938 that is falling apart (guide rod for recoil spring disintegrated). I am done with buying anything that has Sig Sauer design/logo/name /whatever on it.

Seems like the reviews here and online are less then stellar. Polish this, change that, bend the feed lips, break it in, watch for broken slides. Might be why Sig took their name off of it. With a little research you can find a Browning Buckmark for a bit more. (They are currently having rebates). All three of mine have exellent triggers and are tack drivers. Or, find a Ruger mark2, mark3 used. They are bullit proof and Ruger will fix it if it ever fails you.

After about 800 rounds it will finally make it through 3 mags without a failure. The first 500 rounds we're riddled with problems, it was rare to make it through a mag without an issue. Even now I wouldn't call it reliable by any means.

The other problem is the trigger. It's easily the worst trigger I've ever owned. It feels gritty and is ridiculously heavy.

I can handle one of those issues, but not both. I strongly suggest a p22/ sr22/ m&p 22 over it.

On the good side, it feels good in the hands and has decent sights. Accuracy is surprisingly good as well after you get use to the trigger.

Who's the price match with? I don't see a $175 price tag with any other of the sellers listed.

I THINK if you cite this link they honor it. Can't be for certain though. As for the gun, I like mine 1K+ rounds no issues using the right included spring

Thanks! I tried, but they wouldn't honor it. They counteroffered @ $189. I ordered one, then saw they had it priced @ $180 the next day. Not worth hassling over. Ordered from TX to TN. They shipped the weapon from KY. Still took almost 2 weeks. No communications from Bud's except for a terse email response, even though they promised email updates on the progress of the order, and shipping. I won't be doing business with them again.

Magazines are being clearanced out at Sig's direct store for $9.99

Comes with 2 spring sets, use the proper strength for what you plan to fire and no problems or fractures. So, use the heavy spring for HV loads, the light one will work with subsonics even. Use HV rounds with the light spring you're gonna be hammering the piss out of your gun. People don't understand this somehow. Yet it's common sense to not run a slug through a full-choke shotgun.

SG really let me down. Tried to buy this thing as well as the 1911-22 several times, but checkout says that this weapon is restricted in my area. SG is unwilling to explore the gun's "restrictedness". There are other weapons with same magazine capacity, threaded barrels, etc. that are not restricted. For example, M&P 22lr I can buy and it shoots 10 times and has a threaded barrel. Same w/ Walther. Silly.

How are your local gun laws SG's fault? Try voting for folks who won't restrict your rights.

Its actually because GSG guns are made of pot metal. It has nothing to do with the threaded barrel, the problem is that you can throw any GSG into a campfire and it will melt like solder. Before you comment yes a polymer lower will melt but the steel components will not. These "ATI specials" have no steel in them and fall under many states "Saturday Night Special" Laws. You can literally melt one into a puddle with a propane torch in two minutes. Since propane burns at 2000 degrees and these guns melt at 800, in a lot of states they are illegal. GSG mainly makes "Airsoft" guns and these are just modified a bit for .22 caliber. Sig cut their ties to GSG because too many people were lumping GSG products in with REAL Sigs. I got one of these as a "swag gift" for buying a P320. I got a Email later saying a mistake was made and this gun was illegal in my state. I had already sold it for $100, it was a jamomatic. My dealings with ATI have been nothing but a joke and I will never buy or even take a ATI for free "gun" in the future. They make and import pure garbage.

Is this the same gun Sig used to call the Mosquito? Looks exactly the same.

Yes, identical.

you are correct - sig dropped the Mosquito because of slide fractures --- GSG makes junk --- ALWAYS spend the extra $100 and buy walther

Be forewarned - THE slides WILL break --- GSG uses poor quality materials --
