This or a rock island armory

Might also want to consider a Citadel which has a (unwritten like Ruger) lifetime warranty.

ATI has 2 year warranty. Rock Island has lifetime warranty. Made by same company in the Phillipines. Put a couple hundred rounds through mine. Only hiccup was the magazine that came with it. Couple of Sig magazines cured it. Shoots steel, brass, hollow points, and plus P now. Solid gun. Shoots a little low. Like mine so far.

I've been going back and forth between this or a rock island 1911, but I've heard these always shoot low, even right out of the factory. Anyone have some insight?

Stole this from another site:
A few strokes of a file on the front sight will raise the point of impact (obviously don't do this if you have sights with dots); however, be absolutely sure it is the gun and not the shooter or ammunition. Have you checked the gun on a bench rest? Springfield sights their guns to use the "combat sighting" method where the front sights cover the intended point of impact. Putting the sights on the bottom edge of the bullseye will cause a low shot at ranges closer than 25 yards.

Are you using 230 grain bullets? If not, try them. They should raise the point of impact as well

I would not suggest filing the front sight, but instead use liquid paper and paint a dot low on the front sight and two dots high on the rear sights, and fire the gun to test the elevation, and repaint the dot on the front sight higher if needed, once all 3 dots are correct for elevation and windage then mark where the dots are and repaint with a permanent and durable paint

Insight? They actually have front and rear sights, just kidding. I own one and if I recall correctly it does shoot a little low I think, and the sights are all black, no dots, but they can be replaced

On a close inspection of mine, all it really needs is a little bit of high visibility paint on the front sight and it should be good to go.

Or painted.

I own an ATI .45 and I haven’t had any problems with it. I’ve put a couple of hundred rounds through it and no issues whatsoever.

I heard it's made in the Philippines just like the rock Island's. And it has a lifetime warranty?

I own this exact 1911. an it works flawlessly. loving mine

Then why the low rating?

Don't even consider it. ATI makes and imports JUNK. Pay more and get a REAL 1911. I've owned two ATIs, they were the only guns I have ever sold. Their CS is pretty bad also. When this gun turns out to be the turd it is they will try and stick you with the shipping back and forth. You've been warned.

We all got your comment, but do you or have you ever owned this gun to qualify for this review?

What was wrong with your two ATI 1911?
I have heard that some people will replace the trigger, hammer, both safety (grip and thumb safety), slide lock and recoil spring with quality Lone Wolf part with custom fitting of the parts and they have successfully improved the quality of the gun

That's the problem with ATIs imported guns. Plus ATIs CS is the absolute worst.
It's like talking to a Xfinity rep in India.
Lots of talk, no action. Spend an extra $150 and buy a Remington R1.
It's a REAL 5" 1911. You'll Thank me.

I decided to place my first ever online order I went with gradagun and picked up the ATI FX 1911 GI. The transaction couldn't have gone any better. I placed the order at 1:30am on the 9th and my FFL called me the next evening letting me know I can come pick it up. Sweet.
The 1911 itself is of good quality and is as tight as a Sig or Kimber. My first round down the tube was literally a bullseye and hit 3" groups at 15 yards. The only issue was a cosmetic nic in the finish right infront of the ejection port that. I saw it right when I took it out of the bag. All in all its a sweet deal.

If you're ordering, make sure to mention where you saw your ad in the order comments and to request us to waive the credit card processing charge for this sale item. When you confirm your order the charge will be there and an authorization will be made against your card. When we capture the sale amount, we will manually adjust your order totals and not include the 2.5% in the final sale amount.

The deals on these just keep getting better. Anyone know if you can use the rebate more than once? it doesn't specify on the ATI website. I'd like a to buy another one or two.

Anybody receive theirs yet? I ordered one on the 10th, faxed FFL on the 12th.

Yes. I ordered on the 20th and had the FFL faxed that morning. The gun arrived on the 21st.
The order status never changed from processing and I did not receive an email notification that the order had shipped.
I only knew that it arrived when I showed up at my dealer to pick up another transfer, he had this one also.
Maybe I received yours, I noticed that the serial number recorded on the packing slip didn't match the gun that arrived, but to be fair, an 8 does look a lot like a 6 at a glance.

I called them today. Something happened to the FFL I had faxed them. Benji in customer service said he'd take care of it and get the order processed. So, I should have it next week.

I ended up picking one up on that 295 deal after 30 MIR. I have done hours of research online and from what I've read its a solid piece.

Bought one a couple of years ago at PSA and paid way more than this. One of my more accurate 1911's. I get groups on par with my $1000 Sig and Kimber. Great deal even without the rebate. I'm going to get another one just because the deal is so good.

I'm a little concerned about the rebate. It requires a copy of the 4473 Form. I checked with my FFL and he doesn't supply copies. He says no-one does. Even if the rebate is denied, $334.99 is still a good price.

I needed a copy for a different ATI rebate.

FFL just made a copy, wasn't a big deal. ATI accepted and processed the refund in about a week.

Good to know, the FFL I refer to is also a Gunsmith. Perhaps he's too busy. I'm going to stick with him because he's very cost effective. I'll probably use my cellphone camera as recommended below. Thanks!
7/7/2014 Update:
After my FFL agreed to provide me with a copy of the 4473 form, he changed his mind when the gun was delivered and wouldn't provide page 3 of the form which includes his FFL#. He said he didn't want to send it to any 3rd party. I kept my cool and sent to ATI what I had, This included the Pistol Sale Record. Lo and behold, I received my rebate check a little over a week ago. Fast turn around with no problems and no questions asked. I'm very pleased and will deal with ATI without reservation in the future. My FFL is history though.

Take a snap with your cell phone? Yeah, those multi part forms aren't too easy to work with any how... well, best of luck, report back with any good progress; thankxs...

Good Idea. The 4473 Form requirement seems odd since it doesn't verify that you passed the background check and actually took possession of the weapon. The Pistol Sales Record, which the FFL supplies, does that. This rebate process was probably concocted somewhere off shore.

are the iron sights fixed? i bought a bargain .38 super RIA and the sights are fixed which i don't really like. if this is the same, i will pass.

Still should be able to drift pin the rear sight for left/right correction; and even file down the front ramp to raise the point of aim... but any good gunsmith should be able to put some other sights on there if you want them... don't let that stop you, go for it man!

They are fixed 3-dot sights.

EDIT: Not so awesome any more, especially with the two-year warranty! Thanks for the $25 increase, Bud's. :)

This is still looking like a pretty nice deal: http://gun.deals/product/high-standard-1911-45acp-handgun-35599...
