I agree 100% about people price gouging, but over the last 25 years you must have watch’s the price of imported aks increase over time and its known arsenal is top of the line
How do you figure it's the best AK on the market? If you're a member of the AKfiles, then you know about the trunnion issue.
Long time AK owner here and I lurk AK files quite a bit. Over the years I’ve had polytech legends, maadis, mak 90s, Saigas, all types of AKM pattern rifles. Only thing “top tier” I’ve yet to own is an Izzy. That being said, I’m not calling the folks over at the files liars. However there was also a period where WASR-10s were regarded as junk, and rightfully so. They had a lot of issues at one point. So too apparently did these. That is no longer the case. Bought one of these late June and have put 2,600 rounds through it so far. Quite a few mag dumps. Headspace is fine, trunnions are good, chamfer is how it should be, no cant, no barrel droop, no enamel flaking off, rivets fine, nothing but typical wear where one expects it. The point I’m making is whether you believe these are made by ISD or not (I don’t think we’ve ever had official confirmation?) whatever issues they may have had have been remedied. Buy with confidence. Enjoy your new collector piece. Think for yourself and do your own research. If you can’t afford $1249 (that’s already a $100 increase from when I bought mine, six weeks ago) on what you view as a gamble, you don’t have the stomach or the wallet for the AK world. They won’t ever get any cheaper.
It’s a good gun but overpriced for what it is. Just like how 9mm is now $30-70 a box. Been buying firearms (including a number of AKs) and ammo for over 25 years. Price gouge is the thoughtless shameful “elephant in the room” notion of 2A people.
