Picked one of these up from a different seller some time ago. Had wanted to get a 1911 for my collection and 399 was hard to beat, especially with a bull barrel and VZ grips.
Fit and finish are well above what the price suggests. The black on black combat sights are ok and work fine for paper punching. I stuck some fluorescent orange nail polish on the front post for some added contrast.
I've put about 250 rounds through mine and it's shot just fine from 3 to 25 yards. The only thing I'd wish for was rail for a light (for nightstand duty) and adjustable sights. I can't recall if these are Novak cut dovetails or not. Either way you could ship it off to get the dovetails milled to spec and drop whatever sights you'd like on it.
All in all not bad for $400 1911 IMHO.
I confess that even without adjustable sights that is an outstanding value. I notice they have removed the pic with the adjustable sights. The seller needs to clarify this issue.
I bought this handgun about a week ago and I love it. The fit and finish is well above par for the price. The trigger in the one I got was definitely not a factory trigger. It is upgraded. The sights on this model are adjustable. This is an amazing entry level 1911 for anyone looking to get into 1911s. my gun store owner liked even more than his sig 1911 scorpion edition. I highly recommend this gun to anyone considering purchasing it. Oh and the shipping was super fast Too. Ordered it Sunday and had it shooting Tuesday afternoon :)
I'm a bit confused. There is a pic above of adjustable sights, but this specific model doesn't have adjustable sights included in its description. I've checked other places and this model isn't described as having an adjustable rear sight.
This is a really nice 1911 and a good price. I've dealt with these guys many times. Very good.
I purchased this exact model in March 2015. Frame had a jagged chunk of metal missing from the frame where the disconnector sits. The roll pin that stakes the ejector was pround of the frame rail and was eating the slide. My first Rock Island and likely my last Rock Island. It is back at the service center and awaiting resolution. Exceedingly poor quality control on the one I purchased.
