Description

If you’re looking for a plate carrier with a minimalist profile that doesn’t sacrifice real estate, the AR500 Armor Veritas® is for you.

The Veritas (Latin for “Truth”) is the smaller and more modular design of its big brother, the Testudo. The Veritas is comfortable, well-ventilated, and lightweight plate carrier for 10”x12” hard armor plates*. Plenty of PALS webbing for attaching your MOLLE-compatible pouches, holsters, and accessories.

God is the ultimate Truth and armor in the fight against evil. The Veritas pays homage to that reality as physical armor against those who do you and your family harm.

Modularity

The Veritas plate carrier is the main component of a modular armor system consisting of a Veritas skeletonized cummerbund, multi-caliber Kangaroo triple mag pouch, padded side-plate pouches, and Adaptive Plate Insert. These items allow you to adapt the Veritas to your changing needs or mission, from a minimalist profile of just the carrier, to a full-on protective load-bearing platform.

Stay away from these guys, I ordered a carrier pack 11-2-20 and I'm still waiting for pieces of it. Terrible customer service.

As others have said, this stuff is heavy, heavy. I work out and do a ton of cardio, but when I had AR500 III+ plates, I struggled to wear them around my house for more than an hour at a time. Ceramics are a much better option, lighter, and most modern ceramics are multi-hit rated. Their also cheaper than you'd think and you can spend $400 or less and get some good options at half the weight. Yeah, it won't take 20 rounds of .308, but neither will you, body armor notwithstanding. Also, AR500 (even III+) will be defeated by M193 out of a 16" or 20" barrel. If it can't protect against a 55 grain pill that's probably the most common ammo in the US (besides .22LR), what's the point?

Be prepared to wait for a long time with a bs estimate when the item will ship. It’s been 6 weeks-supposed to be here two weeks ago.. customer service will email you a generic response of “working hard to fulfill orders”

Their plates are heavy, but also great for the price.
Their carriers are high quality material, stronger than other brand products.

AR500 company plates are fucking heavy. Weight is they KEY not the cost. Spending $1000 and saving 10 lbs off your Back is worth the money. Not lugging 18lbs and spending $150. People are gonna say they can hack it and it's worth the money, but after an hour wearing it they'll change their mind. I just spend $1200 for ceramic special thread with carrier the weight is under 8lbs, BOTH Plates Total is 7.3 lbs! and you don't have to worry about spalling. It can take M80 ball, 855A1, ak.

So one shot and that ceramic is toast, next shots coming straight through you. Don't know too many people that shoot once at a target. Drop that ceramic, fall down wearing it and its broke and compromised. The combination of anti spall coating and being a plate carrier will keep the spall down. Only way it hits your face or throat is if your heads down. And if you can't carry 20 pounds of steel in a plate carrier like all our troops do then you need to hit the weight room. Steel plates have been used tested and proven for years. Stop trying to justify over paying for garbage

I won't tell anyone how to spend their money I am more just trying to help educate people who don't know a lot about plates. And helping to keep them from making a bad purchase. I personally would only buy armor that would stop up to a 7.62 beccause otherwise whats the point why where armor if it won't stop whatever a threat throws at me? A pretty good write up on plate.

FYI - their site says their Level III plates are rated for 5.56 (Non-penetrator), 7.62x51 and 7.62x39.

I feel the same way. If you're in a situation in which you feel like you need body armor, then you're in a situation where 5.56's and other rifles with high penetration capabilities need to be accounted for. 5.56's are too common for level III plates or lower to be worth considering.

I can agree with that. 55gr at the right distance will zip through the level 3 plates.

DO NOT BUY ARMOR FROM AR500 THEY AREN'T NIJ CERTIFIED AND THEIR PLATE (even with the added coating) DOES NOT PREVENT SPALLING.

What are you talking about? Their Level III and Level IV plates are listed by the National Institute of Justice as compliant with "NIJ Standard-0101.06 for Ballistic-Resistance of Body Armor."

That is inflammatory. It has various degrees of spalling mitigation. Up to 223 it does a pretty good job from what I have seen. 762 not so much.

Nothing like being underrated overrated junk but that’s why I like to see the 3 round test on this plate.
