Both the plate carrier and cummerbund also feature PALS cutouts for all MOLLE-compatible pouches and accessories.The shoulder straps and pull tabs are made of Hypalon, known for their durability under temperature extremes, ultraviolet light, and chemicals. Some examples of this unique protection are in its edge-to-edge coverage and multi-hit capability: While ceramic and polyethylene plates are vulnerable to failure around the edges, steel is capable of withstanding rounds anywhere on its surface. And while a large part of a ceramic plate shatters upon being hit, steel plates can successfully take several shots in a tight grouping.For higher mobility, while some often claim that steel is particularly heavy (Note: Except for the most expensive models, ceramic is often basically the same weight), this is counteracted by its very thin profile and its ergonomic multi-curve shape, which both help mobility. Our Level III Steel is just .18” thick and is made in a shape that matches the shape of the torso for greater comfort when you’re moving. Also, included are two Trauma Pads.Finally, the Protector Helmet (specifications below) is constructed from high-strength aramid and coated in a matte finish with a walnut powder texture. A low-friction rubber is put around the helmet edge, and shock-absorbing foam padding fills the inside. This Level IIIA helmet is tested in accordance with NIJ 0106.01 (modified)* helmet testing recommendations, rated to stop .44 magnum, 9mm, and all lesser threats. The Protector weighs about three pounds and fastens with an adjustable helmet suspension system.
