DescriptionThe Militia HelmetMilitary units and law enforcement agencies can afford to replace their aramid and polyethylene ballistic helmets as they reach the end of their 5-10 year “shelf life,” but the average consumer doesn’t have that kind of budget. So how does the free man get long-lasting protection that won’t break the bank? We’re glad you asked. Introducing the AR500 Armor® Militia steel helmet.Modern engineering and materials mean steel helmets can offer the same protection levels as composite helmets for similar weight and size. But unlike aramid and polyethylene helmets, steel offers protection right up to the rim. Why is this important? Because on the streets and in the field, not all shots are fair. When we compared it to one of the top-of-the-line composite helmets, the Militia offered:Better protectionThinner profileRim-to-rim protectionStops FN 5.7 Green & Blue tip roundsNegligible weight differenceOne-third the priceThis helmet is part of a modular system that allows the user to add an upcoming NVG mount, side rails, rifle up-armor kit, and quick-adjust dial lock suspension system. Armor is a balance of protection level, weight, and cost. The advanced metallurgy in our Militia ballistic helmet offers the best combination of these elements.Specs:Protection Level: European VPAM-3 compliantACH Gen II ballistic compliantExcellent blunt force and impact performanceProtection all the way to the rimUpcoming Features:NVG mountSide railsLevel IV up-armor kitQuick-adjust dial lock suspensionWeight:3.0 lb. with large pads

Is this Berkeley rally bike lock proof?
Sorry, I'm not getting the reference. Did someone get beat over the head w/ a bike lock by an Antifa terrorist @ a rally in Berkeley or something?

Aye, or something

FWIW, it seems like a legitimate alternative, holding up to some real abuse. OTOH, the tests are worthless from the standpoint of determining actual protection from dain bramage, since they need to do something like putting a raw egg against the pad & then seeing if it gets scrambled [stand-in for your brain taking that blow to the head.] Maybe they can get someone who tests motorcycle helmets to do a real test to see if these work acceptably? It doesn't really matter if the helmet can take multiple hits if you're a vegetable after the 1st one... Hopefully, they'll come out w/ one that covers the temple/ears better: I'm not a low-drag operator w/ electronic headsets to worry about interference; as "militia," a profile closer to the PASGT "Fritz" design is more in line w/ my needs...
